Louie Premieres On FX, Instantly Justifies Season Pass

Louis C.K.’s new show Louie premiered on FX last night with back-to-back half-hour episodes, and after a tense 60 minutes of doing my usual “really want to like this” versus “I hope I don’t just pretend to like this because I love Louis C.K. and want to enjoy anything he does” tension, I can happily say that the show more than earned itself a Season Pass from the get-go. My reviewy-type thoughts on the Louie premiere, after the jump: Louis C.K.’s prior attempt at a personal tv show, HBO’s Lucky Louie, failed the aforementioned test; as much as I wanted to like it, and it certainly did have its legit moments (and veteran character-actor Mike Hagerty was awesome), the three-camera sitcom format really put a lot of pressure on the actors, and the show just never felt comfortable.
