'Sharknado 2' storms in with a trailer, a book, and a video game

6 hours ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

“Forget the umbrella. Grab a chainsaw.”

Syfy has released the trailer for the sequel to last summer’s goofy made-to-be-tweeted-about TV movie. The trailer jokes that lightning never strikes twice, but Sharknado 2: The Second One looks it has all you could ever really ask for: sharks, tornadoes, Tara Reid looking terrified, bad jokes about “jumping the shark,” chainsaws—oh, did we mention the sharks in tornadoes?

Forgoing its predecssor’s loose grasp on Los Angeles geography, Sharknado 2 relocated to New York, a now everything from the Statue of Liberty to Citi Field will fall victim to the shark attack. »

Sharks On Fire in First 'Sharknado 2' Trailer

8 July 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I wonder how much it costs SyFy to churn out this crap, but kudos to them for taking advantage of a situation as they even managed to convince me to watch Sharknado, though I'm not sure I'll be equally enticed to check out Sharknado 2: The Second One when it premieres on July 30, but the first trailer certainly looks as if they've ramped up the stupidity. This time around the action moves to New York City where a freak weather system unleashes a Sharknado on the Big Apple and Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are back as Fin and April, apparently on a not-so-coincidental vacation(c) to save the day. A cast of has beens rounds out the cast including Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Kelly Osbourne, Andy Dick, Judah Friedlander and Judd Hirsch. Check out the trailer below. Sharknado 2: The Second One Trailer & Featurette

7 July 2014 6:41 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It's a safe bet that you didn't actually watch Anthony C. Ferrante's Sharknado last year, but it's equally plausible that you were caught up in the snarknado that took over social media during the movie's debut.  Now you can get ahead of the game by watching the newly released trailer for Ferrante's follow-up, Sharknado 2: The Second One.  Slightly more worth your time is a new featurette that sums up the first film in four short minutes, giving you all you need to know about a movie you honestly never need to watch. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return to combat the fin-filled funnel of fish, this time in New York, where they are joined by Vivica A. Fox as Fin’s (Ziering) old high school friend, Skye; Mark McGrath as Fin’s brother-in-law; Kelly Osbourne as a flight attendant;  Andy Dick as a police officer; Judah Friedlander as Brian, »

'Sharknado 2' Trailer Literally Jumps the Shark

7 July 2014 4:06 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

If the first clip from Sharknado 2: The Second One didn't feature enough carnage for you, the new trailer should most definitely do the trick, with Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) rallying a group of New Yorkers to fight back against this twister full of deadly sharks. While it still isn't exactly clear how this mega-storm managed to travel all the way from Los Angeles, the setting of the first Sharknado, to New York City, the latest footage offers plenty of shark carnage, along with some of the new cast members such as Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Andy Dick and Judd Hirsch as they fight to save The Big Apple.

In addition, we also have a new extended featurette, which breaks down the first Sharknado's story in what they call a "sumnado," featuring a random New Yorker introducing the characters and trying to explain the story. »

Independence Day: the film that defined modern summer movies

2 July 2014 7:53 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Independence Day was released in the Us 18 years ago today. Ryan looks at its ongoing impact on how summer movies are made and marketed...

Feature

In 1990, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin were Hollywood outsiders. Devlin was a young New York-born actor who'd appeared in a few TV shows and movies, such as the 1985 comedy, Real Genius. Emmerich was a German filmmaker whose credits consisted of low-budget films such as The Noah's Ark Principle (1984), and Hollywood-Monster (1987). Emmerich's 1990 film, Moon 44, was about pilots defending mining colonies with space-faring helicopters, and featured a glum-looking Malcolm McDowell.

Dean Devlin was also among Moon 44's cast, and it was here that he forged a partnership with Emmerich: Devlin hated Moon 44's dialogue, so he went and wrote his own. Within two years, they'd made their first film together - Universal Soldier, written by Devlin, directed by Emmerich, and produced by Carolco. »

3-Minute Sneak Peek at Sharknado 2: The Second One

30 June 2014 3:30 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

The SyFy Channel has released a 3-minute clip for their absurd looking movie Sharknado 2: The Second One. The clip features a group of people riding the subway when all of a sudden it's attacked by sharks. This looks so stupid on so many levels, and the effects are horrendously bad. I seriously can't believe that this exists.

Official synopsis:

Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished iconic sites. Only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple. And, by the way, the Sharknado that hits NYC makes the one that hit Los Angeles seem positively tame.

It's set to premier on Wednesday, July 30th at 9/8c, and it co-stars Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath. Some of the guest stars include Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, »
