Season 1 star Dean Winters returns on Wednesday's episode as Det. Brian Cassidy, now an undercover cop who is involved in the team's latest case. "It looks like he could be a little shady, and it's up to Cragen to say, 'I know Brian and he's a good cop,'" Dann Florek tells TVGuide.com. Unfortunately, Det. Amaro (Danny Pino) doesn't quite believe him. "It's contentious with Amaro," Pino says. "Dean's character is not as affable as Amaro would like."

"Law & Order: Svu" has given viewers 13 years (and soon, it will be 14) of ripped from the headlines, over-the-top, twisty cases, but "Strange Beauty" might just be the oddest.
In the episode, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) witnesses an abduction that leads her and the elite squad of detectives known was the Special Victims Unit into the world of self-mutilation and fetishes.
Tamara Tunie returns as medical examiner Warner and presents the detectives with a severed leg, one that harkens back to an old cold case. While investigating, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Amaro (Danny Pino) meet a one-legged prostitute who is quick to admit she lost the leg for a price.

Last night on Late Night, Mariska Hargitay confessed to an addiction that went really w-r-o-n-g: Scramble With Friends. A certain "Mrs. Pittman," allegedly turned off by the actress's meager 200-points-per-game average, stopped playing out of the blue, and inadvertently triggered the psycho ex-girlfriend in Hargitay. She began contriving ways to bait Mrs. Pittman into a match, texting her — "Please, could you just give me one more chance?" — and even convincing twelve Law and Order Svu crew members to reach out to her. Plus: Rashida Jones and Craig Ferguson contemplated sock marks, swan attacks, and joint business ventures on a beach in Scotland; and Cameron Diaz finally overcame her fear of Chelsea Handler. Some major television star power showed up at the NBC Upfront preview party in New York on Monday, representing a fair amount of our favorite shows and new ones we can’t wait to see. One of those would be Parks and Recreation and the shows lead, Amy Poehler looked like a stone cold fox in a Nicole Miller dress, House of Lavande jewelry and an All Saints leather jacket. Other funny ladies, Up All Night co-stars Maya Rudolph and Christina Applegate also represented. Eva Longoria was glam in a deep red Alberta Ferretti dress with Brian Atwood pumps. She probably made sure not to stand right next to Jenny McCarthy, whose sexy fuchsia shift would have clashed horribly next to it!
Other glam ladies included Law & Order: Svu‘s Mariska Hargitay wearing a white Victoria Beckham dress. She happily posed with co-stars Ice-t and Kelli Giddish. Katharine McPhee wore a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress, »

Now that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been renewed for Season 14, star Mariska Hargitay wants her character Olivia Benson to find long-lasting love.
"Ada Haden (Harry Connick Jr.) made her realize that there is hope," Hargitay told TVGuide.com at her fifth annual Joyful Heart Gala. "She was so broken and in pain and devastated with the departure of Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni), that the truth is, now that he's gone I think there's room. With him there I think she had blinders on and now she's going, 'Wait a minute there's a whole other world out there.'"

Celebrities such as Debra Messing, Glenn Close and Hilary Swank are very excited about President Barack Obama's support of same-sex marriage.
As the former star of NBC's Will & Grace (one of the first successful shows to portray openly gay characters), Messing was particularly moved by the President's statement.

"To have the President of the United States come out and openly support equal marriage rights... and [for Joe Biden] to say that Will & Grace has done more to educate the country about gays and lesbians —it's humbling. It makes me very emotional," she told TVGuide.com at Mariska Hargitay's Joyful Heart Foundation Gala in New York.
Check out what else Messing, Close and Swank had to say about marriage equality:

It was anything but a typical Hollywood air kiss for comedian Ali Wentworth and Law & Order: Svu star Mariska Hargitay when the two greeted each other on the red carpet last night with a passionate smooch on the lips.

I’m sure almost every night in New York and Los Angeles, there is a room that contains handfuls of celebrities, bankers and society ladies clinking glasses and pledging thousands to some cause or another. But, though I have been to a whole lot of those kinds of soirees, I feel like the one I went to last night, a benefit for the Joyful Heart Foundation at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC, is a little bit different from the others. I can’t imagine there are many other events where you would see Ice-t and Coco meet wide-eyed teenagers, Debra Messing loudly promising to kiss a stranger, Samantha Ronson teaching a Christie’s auctioneer how to hold a mic, and Hilary Swank dancing in her seat as Harry Connick Jr. improvised lyrics in praise of Mariska Hargitay. (I mean, it’s no Channing Tatum grinding with Elton John, but still. »

The ratings for Law & Order: Svu may have come down this season but it's still one of NBC's top-rated dramas. To no surprise, NBC has renewed the venerable cop show for a 14th season. In addition, they've ordered a new drama from Dick Wolf, Chicago Fire.
Season 13 of Svu has been averaging a 1.92 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 6.96 million total viewers. Year-to-year, the show is down by 24% in the demo (vs a 2.5 rating) and 18% in viewerrs (vs 8.48 million). It's currently the fourth highest-rated scripted series on the network.
This season of Svu has been the first without longtime showrunner Neal Baer and star Christopher Meloni. Last month, Mariska Hargitay signed a new deal to continue with the show if it ended up getting renewed. Considering the state of the rest of NBC's schedule, that »

"Law & Order: Svu" will return for a 14th season in the fall, and its creator, Dick Wolf, will also have a new show on the network, "Chicago Fire."
"Svu" star Ice-t and showrunner Warren Leight tweeted about their show's renewal Wednesday (May 9). The pickup was expected after Mariska Hargitay signed a new contract in April.
"Svu" has suffered some ratings declines this season. It's averaging 7.6 million viewers and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49, down about 15 percent from 2010-11. Among NBC's dramas this season, though, only "Smash" (3.3) and "Parenthood" (2.6) have better 18-49 numbers. With the network expected to do a pretty heavy overhaul for next season, having a little stability could be a good thing.
Wolf is also executive producing "Chicago Fire," a drama from writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas ("3:10 to Yuma," "Wanted") about firefighters in the Windy City. It stars Taylor Kinney ("The Vampire Diaries"), Jesse Spencer ("House »
