  • CinemaRetro
(This is the second and final part of Ernie Magnotta's exclusive interview with Kenneth Johnson, creator of the classic 1970s TV series "The Incredible Hulk", which debuted 40 years ago today.)

By Ernie Magnotta

Em: Nice…I’d like to talk about Jack Colvin for a sec.

Kj: Sure.

Em: I really loved him as McGee. I thought he was terrific. Did he enjoy playing the role?

Kj: Yeah, he did. But he was frustrated sometimes and he would say to me, “How many times can I say that I’m looking for a hulking, green creature?” So, we tried to really write episodes where he had meaningful stuff to do.

Em: Yeah, that was actually my next question because the character changed a bit. He was a little unlikeable in the first season; like a weasel.

Kj: Yeah, that’s it. I love those yellow rag journalists. The tabloid

The creature is driven by rage and is pursued by an investigative reporter. The creature is wanted for a murder he didn’t commit. David Banner is believed to be dead. And he must let the world think that he is dead until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

Thor: Ragnarok Gets The 80s Treatment In This Pitch Perfect Fan Trailer

Like the Guardians of the Galaxy movies before it, it’s clear from what we’ve seen so far that Thor: Ragnarok is heavily inspired by the big, bold sci-fi films of the 1980s. You just have to look at its kitschy revised logo to work that out. Now, Nerdist has taken that idea to its natural conclusion and imagined what it would be like if Ragnarok had been made in that decade with this hilarious new trailer.

For anyone who remembers the era, the video below is a spot-on recreation of the trailers of the day. From the grainy picture quality that looks like it comes straight off a worn-out VHS tape to the jaunty music choices to the obligatory bombastic voiceover making terrible puns, it’s all here. A particularly nice touch is the clever downgrading of the state of the art CGI in the movie to resemble wonky 80s visual effects.

Thor: Ragnarok Goes Totally 80s in Cheesy Retro Trailer

Thor: Ragnarok Goes Totally 80s in Cheesy Retro Trailer
Thor: Ragnarok is almost upon us. Now have our first look at what the movie could have look like were it released in 1987 instead of 2017. The 80s vibes have already been laid on pretty thick in the original trailer, with synthesizer scoring and logos that bare more than a passing resemblance to the mighty He Man and the Masters of the Universe. Ragnarok already looks like an awesome throwback. But what if the movie were actually made thirty years ago? What would the epic McU movie look like then?

The folks over at Nerdist just happen to hold the answer to all of our questions about Thor: Ragnarok as reimagined for 1987. Director Taika Waititi has spoken at length about how the movie pays homage to the classic sci-fi and fantasy movies of the 70s and 80s, so Nerdist doubled down and made a new trailer that shows off some of

Marvel's Defenders: who should be the next four?

James Hunt Sep 6, 2017

If Netflix continues to mine the Marvel seam, which characters might come in for the Defenders treatment next?

The Marvel-Netflix deal might have met its initial goal with the broadcast of crossover series The Defenders, but there’s no stopping that particular gravy train - future seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are already on their way.

See related Here's your first look at Murder On The Orient Express

Marvel has already shows its willingness to add new characters to their roster of heroes with a Punisher series due to drop this year, and deals like New Warriors and Cloak & Dagger show that they’re not afraid of pushing D-listers into the spotlight to see what takes. So with the obvious choices already taken care of, we couldn’t help wondering: which characters should make up a second wave of Defenders shows?

The Moments Which Made You Love Cinema

Tom Jolliffe on those moments which made you love cinema…

It’s different for everyone and maybe for some it never happens. Not everyone (shock horror!) is into film. For those film buffs, nerds, geeks, or even merely casual enjoyers of cinematic delights, there are always defining moments. Maybe it’s a moment within a film. Maybe it’s a certain film as a whole. It’s never merely one moment either. Perhaps there’s a moment that re-affirms that love. A time with which the magic seemingly waned, but like a bolt of energy it re-emerged, flowing through you and reigniting your love of film.

As far as myself my love of cinema began young. That’s the case for most people. There were moments in films that brought about a level of excitement and wonder in me that hit the stratosphere. There was the simple glowing blade of the lightsaber.

An off-the-wall mix of Grimm Fairy tale characters and superhero team-up movies which, frankly, should have been obvious given the title, Avengers Grimm’s plot is relatively simple: when Rumpelstiltskin uses the Magic Mirror to escapes to the modern world taking Snow White with him and destroying the mirror in the process,

We Are Groot (But Also Howard The Duck)

As we look back at what came before ‘Iron Man,’ we marvel at the miracle that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Earlier this week, the Fsr team brainstormed the plot of Avengers 4 based on the idea that its mysterious subtitle was a potential spoiler for the still unseen Avengers: Infinity War. It was a fun exercise that briefly allowed me to nerd out over a few spandex epics penned by personal favorites, Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman. The resulting conversation spawned some excitement, and a good heap of cynicism as well…or better yet, apathy. How much further can the Marvel Cinematic Universe expand? Will Thanos ever sit up from his chair, and prove he’s the big bad Mad Titan comic book fanboys claim him to be? Next week, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will mark the 15th entry in Marvel’s unprecedented shared universe machine, and by the time we get to Avengers
