'Happy Endings' recap: Forgive and forget'ems

8 March 2012 5:45 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

It feels odd to be disappointed in an episode of Happy Endings that referenced the likes of Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Inception, but after last week’s great “Cocktails & Dreams”, last night’s “The Kerkovich Way” felt a little bit lost.

For that I reluctantly blame Max and Penny’s surprisingly lackluster storyline, which despite having aces like Adam Pally and Casey Wilson at the helm and an awesome cameo by Ferris Bueller’s high-flying parking lot attendant Richard Edson, the whole thing relied too heavily on silly sight gags and an ultimately ho-hum Penny rivalry. »

'Happy Endings': Max And Penny Meet Valet From 'Ferris Bueller'

7 March 2012 10:55 PM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"Happy Endings" (Wed., 9:30 p.m. Est on ABC) found a way to work a fun cameo seamlessly into their crazy narrative this week in an all-new episode. While the rest of the ABC lineup went into repeat mode after the close of February's sweeps period, "Happy Endings" keeps chugging along. The network needs to get through its season in order to make room for "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" next month.

It's certainly a hint that "Happy Endings" is probably not as secure in the lineup as the rest of the Wednesday comedy block, despite heaps of critical acclaim. With a weaker lead-in from a "Modern Family" repeat this week, there's a good chance fewer viewers were on hand to share a fun moment of surprise with Max and Penny.

The Cast & Creators Of 'The Adventures Of Pete & Pete' Reunite In NYC To Discuss Their Cult '90s Show

29 February 2012 11:57 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

If you were a kid who grew up during the '90s, chances are you were probably watching either MTV or Nickelodeon to get your fix of entertainment for the day. And if you watched Nickelodeon, you were probably a fan of “The Adventures of Pete & Pete,” the oddball series featuring two brothers both named Pete and their sometimes surreal adventures growing up in the suburb of Wellsville. Created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi -- who were working in the promo department at the still-fledgling network -- 'Pete & Pete' had begun as a series of shorts in 1989 before becoming a regular series several years later. But this wasn’t just any kids program. Not only did it feature an 8-year-old with a tattoo of a topless mermaid named Petunia and a personal superhero wildly gesticulating in skin tight pants but featured recurring guest stars, including Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop, »
