Back in May 2013, Warner Bros. hired Seth Grahame-Smith and his partner David Katzenberg to produce a Gremlins reboot. In April, the studio put the project on the fast track, although it was never confirmed if a writer or director had been attached. During a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Seth Grahame-Smith revealed that the project is no longer moving forward and has been put on indefinite hold. Although, he does hope to revisit it sometime in the near future.
"I think we just ran out of steam. It's one of those things where everybody got busy doing other things. It's something I would love to come back to, but right now Steven (Spielberg) is making two movies back to back and Chris Columbus is busy. We're all taking a five-minute break on that."
