Icons of Fright Talks Exeter With Director Marcus Nispel!!

2 July 2015 7:37 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Director Marcus Nispel might be primarily known for helming 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 2009’s Friday The 13th remakes, as well as being in my opinion, one of the best music video directors of all time, but this week sees the release of Exeter, a film that has went through three years of shuffled release dates and name changes. Originally titled Backmask, Exeter is a breath of fresh air when it comes to the exorcism subgenre, a film that knows what its audience is, and revels in that self aware approach.

Nispel was nice enough to chat with us for a bit, regarding the long journey of Exeter and its do it yourself approach, the difference between a film like this and a big studio reboot, and…Charles Manson? Read on for one entertaining conversation with one of the nicest filmmakers working today, and catch Exeter when it hits »

Greg Grunberg says Star Wars: The Force Awakens is all about “the story and family”

26 June 2015 3:46 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

If there is one thing Star Wars: The Force Awakens has done well (despite its heavily publicised production) is keeping its story a secret. We’ve had two trailers already, but we don’t actually know all that much about the plot of J.J. Abrams’ new adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

One of its stars Greg Grunberg however has given some details about the theme of the movie in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I can only say that practical effects are as important—if not more important—than the special effects,” the actor said. “And it’s all about the story and family. I mean that’s what J.J. is all about. And these new characters, these actors are unbelievable. They’re so well cast. We got our script pages, only the scenes that we were in. Not even what was being shot that day! »

There.s a new poster for the upcoming comedy which will strike a chord with anybody who was a sci-fi fan in the 1980.s, especially if you.ve seen the first film. The poster via the Ted Facebook page, is a reproduction of the original 1980 Flash Gordon movie poster. Ted looks just as evil as Max von Sydow.s Ming the Merciless. The folks over at TheForce.net have posted the below image which shows Mark Hamill as Luke with his grey beard and metallic hand. They don’t say where they got the image from, so this is far from official.

Warning – possible spoilers below…

Since the announcement of the movie, we’ve known that the likes of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia would be back for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there have been plenty of rumours about other possible returning roles (but not Lando it would seem). Well, starwars7news.com believes it can confirm two returning characters, along with information on a new one.

If you’re a fan of Return of the Jedi, you are in luck. According to the website, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will see the return of Nein Nunb and Admiral Ackbar. Check out the photos below that the site claims are 100% legit:

Music and Sex: Scenes from a life - A novel in progress by Roman AkLeff (first installment can be read here; second here; third here; fourth here; fifth here).

[Warning: the chapter below contains "adult situations." Seriously, this one's not for the faint-hearted.]

Walter’s new home, Carman Hall, was an utterly soulless pile of cinder blocks. No effort at all had been made, during its design and construction two decades earlier, to build in anything conveying the slightest sense of warmth. No carpeting in either the halls or in the suites, no wood anywhere except the doors, no decorative touches, nothing but bare straight lines. One imagined it had been designed so it could be hosed down with minimum effort between school years to as to be literally as well as aesthetically antiseptic. There was not even any accommodation made for cooking; not only were there no kitchen nooks, even hotplates were forbidden (though, given that they were horrific fire hazards, that made sense, »
