Where would the slasher genre be without some of the beloved and fail-safe stereotypes that we have all come to know and love? Summer camps, teenagers, tormented classmates that returned a decade later to exact horrific revenge. Oh yeah, also some coeds and a week of sorority hazing. That’s a good one too, which brings us to The Initiation.
The poster art is a bit deceiving. It’s way less gothic than you think. No castles or women in evening gowns. Think the 1980’s baby, and all the trappings that come with it. The dysfunctional rich debutante, the even more dysfunctional alcoholic rich mother, a handsome and intelligent young scientist and dream researcher, and some really serious hidden emotional baggage that’s inevitably going to come to an ugly head.
Enter Kelly Fairchild (Daphne Zuniga), a young and rich college student whose family »
On Saturday (Oct. 12), Hallmark Channel premieres the movie-length pilot "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," which has received a 10-episode series order, probably to air in 2014.
Created by Martha Williamson ("Touched by an Angel"), it focuses on Oliver (Eric Mabius, "Ugly Betty"), the head of a team at the U.S. Post Office's Dead Letter Office, who has taken on the task of being a lost-mail detective to make sure that undeliverable letters and packages make it their rightful recipients.
Along the way, the team saves lives, solves crimes, reunites old loves and changes futures. Helping the handsome, idiosyncratic Oliver -- who believes a snail-mail letter is the gold standard of human communication -- is free-spirited Rita (Crystal Lowe), intuitive Norman (Geoff Gustafson), and no-nonsense technophile Shane (Kristin Booth, "The Kennedys").
Under Shane's inspiration, the team goes in a risky and unorthodox direction, beginning with the chance to clear the name of a »
Hallmark Channel has picked up Martha Williamson‘s backdoor pilot/movie Signed, Sealed, Delivered as a series. The show's first season will have 10 episodes and are expected to air mid-2014.
Williamson is the former executive producer of Touched by an Angel and this marks her return to series television. Starring Eric Mabius, the two-hour movie/pilot will air this Saturday, October 12th on Hallmark. Daphne Zuniga, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson also star.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered is a dramedy that follows a group of mail detectives in the Dead Letter Office. They deliver every last lost piece of correspondence to its rightful owner -- typically just when the recipient needs it most.

William Devane is set to return as James Heller in the upcoming event miniseries "24: Live Another Day" premiering in the Spring on Fox.
Devane joins his onscreen daughter Kim Raver who is already set to return as Audrey Raines. Both had major roles in 24's fourth and fifth season and were last seen appearing in the final scenes of the sixth season. [Source: Deadline]
"I’m not in it, just to put that out there. I think I’m going to be in America, so I’ll probably round up all the people who like to watch Doctor Who in the area. We’ll probably watch it and drink PG Tips and eat Jammy Dodgers, »

In surprising news, Fox has ordered a second season of Sleepy Hollow. The supernatural drama has been doing well enough to merit a full-season order (which is what most new shows get for doing well) but Fox has decided to keep the first season a short 13-episodes.
Nathan Fillion has signed up for a guest-role on Community. He’ll appear in one episode as a “politically savvy head custodian”. No word if Abed notices his resemblance to Captain Mal.

Here’s some news to put a smile on your face that will last all weekend, Stevie Nicks is a big Game of Thrones fan and she credits the fantasy drama for pulling her out of a bad time when she was grieving for her mother and battling pneumonia. She’s even written poetry about the characters and wants »

Exclusive: Hallmark Channel is expanding its scripted portfolio. I’ve learned that the cable network has given a 10-episode order to Signed, Sealed & Delivered (formerly Dead Letters) ahead of the backdoor pilot’s October 12 premiere as an original movie. I hear the decision was made based on great testing results for the pilot. Created and executive produced by former Touched By An Angel executive producer Martha Williamson, Signed, Sealed & Delivered is a comedic drama about an intrepid group of mail detectives in the Dead Letter Office who will deliver every last lost & dead letter to its rightful owner just when the recipient needs it most. Ugly Betty alum Eric Mabius is leading that cast, which also includes Daphne Zuniga, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson. Williamson is executive producing with Joel S. Rice, Michael Prupas and Jesse Prupas. The pickup comes on the heels of the second season renewal »

The Inititation, 1984
Directed by Larry Stewart
Kelly Fairchild has become a college student and a member of the Delta Ro Kai sorority. During all her life, she has suffered from a nightmare where a man is burning. She meets an assistant professor who can help interpret the dream. The sorority's initiation ritual is a nighttime breaking-and-entering into her father's department store.
Slasher movies and college kids tend to go together like peas and carrots. Throughout the 1980s there was a slew of these 'over-sexed teenagers getting axed' flicks that more often than not fell into the lower half of the quality scale. The Initiation is one such film, but there are some redeeming factors.
Stars: Vera Miles, Clu Gulager, Daphne Zuniga, James Read, Marilyn Kagan, Hunter Tylo, Robert Dowdell, Frances Peterson, Christopher Bradley, Peter Malof | Written by Charles Pratt Jr. | Directed by Larry Stewart
Like any blossoming all-American gal, Kelly is looking forward to her sorority initiation with a mixture of excitement and apprehension – and she s got every reason to be anxious considering the prank her sorority sisters have tasked her with a late-night break-in of her fathers department store. At first, it seems pretty straightforward and everything goes to plan, but once inside the mall, Kelly and her fellow pledges finds themselves locked in, and they re not alone…
Making its second appearance on DVD here in the UK (the first was an “only just better than VHS” release by Pegasus), The Initiation is one of my personal favourites from the Eighties slasher boom. Taking its lead from those slasher movies that came before it, »
