The Third Annual Yulies: Let's celebrate the absurdity of holiday TV movies!

23 December 2010 12:29 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

There you are, all curled up on the sofa, holding a mug of hot cocoa with one hand, knitting an unsightly reindeer sweater with the other. Your tree is twinkling, your fireplace is glowing, and your neighbors are caroling semi-competently on your snow-dusted lawn. Is there anything that could make this scene more festive? You bet your sweet chestnuts there is. The holidays aren’t officially the holidays until we gorge ourselves on the buffet of new Christmas TV movies served up around this time of year. Are they corny? Like an Iowa farm. Predictable? You can set your watch »

Andy’s ‘One Tree Hill’ Afterthoughts: Quinn’s Back In Town… And She’s Got A Gun!

16 November 2010 7:15 PM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Nov. 16’s Thanksgiving episode brought out tears, secrets & So Much Jello salad!

I feel like I had a real Thanksgiving tonight. Granted, my family members were replaced by the sexy, emotional creatures of Tree Hill, so there was slightly more drama involved. There was a friendly game of touch football… but it ended in a fist fight between Alex (Jana Kramer) and Mia (Kate Voegele); there was a ridiculous spread of food… but most of it came in the form of alcohol; and there was the long-awaited return of a family member, Quinn (Shantel VanSanten)… but she might also be a murderer! Yup, only slightly more drama than normal.

Jailbird Victoria (Daphne Zuniga) crashed Thanksgiving at the James-Scott household, which put her in the same room as Brooke (Sophia Bush) for the first time since their heated prison confrontation. As you can imagine, the results were… not fantastic. As a matter of fact, »

Kelly Blatz discusses making TBS’ “Glory Daze”

11 November 2010 4:23 PM, PST | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith

HollywoodNews.com: “Aaron Stone” cutie pie Kelly Blatz is finding a welcome dividend in making TBS’ Nov. 16-debuting “Glory Daze” series about a group of fraternity pledges in the 1980s. The 23-year-old actor notes, “I backed out of college before I even went, and even though I visited friends in fraternities a few times, I kind of felt like maybe I missed out. Pledging this fraternity with these guys, I get to have all the fun and camaraderie without having to do the school work.”

Blatz is part of an ensemble including Tim Meadows and Drew Seeley (with interesting guest stars like Kevin Nealon, Teri Polo and Fred Willard). He reports that the show’s creators, Walt Becker and Michael LeSleur, informed them “They didn’t want to hit anyone over the head with the 80′s thing — this is inspired by their own »

Daphne Zuniga discusses the inspiration behind “A Family Thanksgiving”

5 November 2010 10:25 AM, PDT | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith

HollywoodNews.com: When viewers tune into Daphne Zuniga’s “A Family Thanksgiving” Hallmark Channel movie tomorrow (11/6), they’ll be seeing moments out of the actress’ own life as the holiday fantasy tale unfolds. That’s because Daphne, who was in on the development of the project over four years, invested her heart and humor into it.

The charming fantasy romantic comedy has Daphne as a tough, workaholic attorney who has a great wardrobe and an upscale apartment, but no personal life whatsoever. Then, thanks to a run-in with a magical lady (Faye Dunaway), she finds herself in an alternative existence — the life she would have been leading had she fallen in love, married and had children. The movie turned out to be a love letter to Daphne’s sister, niece and nephew, and a foray into a lifestyle Daphne herself has never tried. »

Andy Says: Sophia Bush Is The Best Actress On TV & I’m Glad ‘One Tree Hill’ Is Back

15 September 2010 7:10 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Courtesy of The CW (3)

The eighth season premiere has the best ending ever. If you haven’t watched, don’t read on because I’m totally going to spoil it for you.

None of my friends believe me, but The CW’s One Tree Hill can be really good. At its best, it’s car crashes and school shootings and psycho murderers on prom night. The Sept. 14 season premiere comes vaguely close to that with a clever mixture of the show’s trademark romantic gobbledigook and the best twist ending ever!

Ready? Ok, so for the entire hour we’re led to believe that Clay (Robert Buckley) only dreamt that he and Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) got shot, and it’s very disappointing. But in the last two minutes, they both start bleeding from their bullet wounds and we see that their bodies are definitely still laying in pools of blood at Clay’s house. »

'One Tree Hill' premiere: Five Wtf moments

14 September 2010 11:46 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Caution: If you've got the Season 8 premiere of "One Tree Hill" sitting unwatched in your DVR, this is not the article for you. Spoilers ahead, kids. Which brings us to our list of Five Wtf Oth moments.

1. We waited with bated breath all summer to find out what would happen to Clay (Robert Buckley) and Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) after they were shot by Katie, so naturally our first Wtf was the reveal that the attempted murder was all a dream.

Of course, we've also seen a television show before, so it didn't take us very long to figure out that when Clay and Quinn spent the entire episode on a beach with Quinn's top off and her white shorts soaked through -- they were actually in limbo. Katie did shoot them, and their entire "From Here to Eternity" day was some kind of alternate reality shared coma dream.

2. We're so mad at Victoria! »

'Vampires Suck' Really Just Gets Me Thinking About Other Awesome Spoof Movies...

19 August 2010 10:57 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

I haven't seen "Vampires Suck" so I have nothing to say against it. I'm not big on Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's most recent spoof flicks, but all credit goes to them for starting a fun series with "Scary Movie." I think my problem with subsequent efforts, like "Date Movie," "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans," is the lack of a strong narrative thread. Most of the greatest classic send-ups tell a story first and mix in the humor second.

I hear that "Vampires Suck" does that as well, following the basic story beats laid out in "Twilight" and "New Moon." I can't say if they've been taking notes from some of the classics, but whenever one of these movies comes out I always thumb through my catalog and pull out some favorites to watch again. I figure with "Vampires Suck" out tomorrow, now's a good time to share »

Melrose Place: TV Show Cancelled, No Season Two

21 May 2010 6:46 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

To no surprise, The CW has cancelled their remake of Melrose Place after just one season and 18 episodes.

The new Melrose Place revolves around the same apartment complex as the 1990s original but largely focuses on a new group of characters. The cast includes Katie Cassidy, Stephanie Jacobsen, Jessica Lucas, Michael Rady, Shaun Sipos, Colin Egglesfield, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Nicholas Gonzalez, Victor Webster, and Brooke Burns. Appearances by actors Thomas Calabro, Laura Leighton, Heather Locklear, Josie Bissett, and Daphne Zuniga help kept ties to the original alive.

In September, despite a lot of promotion, the first episode attracted a small 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.31 million viewers. The numbers fell after that and never came close to even matching the premiere's. The April 4th episode hit a season low, with a horrific 0.4 rating in the demographic and only .86 »
