The Sure Thing - Shout! Factory - Blu-ray Director: Rob Reiner Cast: John CusackDaphne ZunigaBoyd GainesAnthony EdwardsTim Robbins. Full cast + crew There are a few noteworthy big-budget releases from 2014 hitting store shelves this week, but before we get to those let's focus on an old gem that an entirely new generation should rediscover: The Sure Thing, directed by Rob Reiner. It was his second feature ever, and it came sandwiched right between This is Spinal Tap and Stand By Me. It's a brilliant, character-driven script with two great leads in John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga. It elevates '80s sex comedy material to some endearing levels, and the whole movie has aged remarkably well. Highly, highly recommended if...

Mel Brooks Says He Wants to Direct Spaceballs 2 Next Year

8 February 2015 3:16 AM, PST | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Mel Brooks directed such films as "The Producers," "Blazing Saddles," and "Young Frankenstein," but hasn't stepped behind the camera for twenty years. But during a recent interview, Brooks revealed that he may be interested in developing a sequel to his "Spaceballs" comedy. "Maybe I could do another musical, maybe I could do another movie. I was thinking about 'Spaceballs' the other day," he said. "In 'Spaceballs,' in the movie, Bill Pullman says to me, Yogurt, just plain Yogurt, he says 'Do you think we'll ever meet again?' and I say 'Well, I don't know... maybe in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.' And I'm thinking now, if I did a movie that came out right after 'Star Wars' comes out . maybe a couple of months later . I'd have a big weekend, you know? No matter what, even if it fell on »

"Spaceballs 2" ?

6 February 2015 7:58 PM, PST | SneakPeek | See recent SneakPeek news »

When writer/director Mel Brooks' "Spaceballs" comedy spoof of "Star Wars" was first released in 1987, fans of the 'space opera' genre were delighted with the film, but most reviewers at the time dismissed the film as lame 'shtick', thinking the whole "Star Wars" 'thing' had run its course and best left forgotten. But the fans were right, the film was successful and now Brooks wants to mount a "Spaceballs" sequel:

Brooks was quoted on Adam Carolla's "Take a Knee" podcast, that he would love the original "Spaceballs" cast members to return for a sequel, with filming to start after the release of Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Unfortunately the original "Spaceballs" film has seen many of the main cast pass away, including John Candy as 'Barf'...

... Joan Rivers as 'Dot Matrix', Dom DeLuise as 'Pizza The Hut'...

...and Phil Hartman as 'Dink'.

Mel Brooks Wants to Make 'Spaceballs 2' with Rick Moranis

6 February 2015 3:47 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

With the anticipation growing by the day for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which hits theaters in December, the buzz surrounding this highly-anticipated space adventure may have planted the seeds for a sequel to everyone's favorite Star Wars parody, Mel Brooks' 1987 classic Spaceballs. The 88-year-old filmmaker was recently a guest on Adam Carolla's podcast Take a Knee, where he teased possible plans for Spaceballs 2, which was actually mentioned in the movie Spaceballs itself. Here's what he had to say below.

"Maybe I could do another musical, maybe I could do another movie. I was thinking about Spaceballs the other day. In Spaceballs, in the movie, Bill Pullman says to me, Yogurt, just plain Yogurt, he says 'Do you think we'll ever meet again?' and I say 'Well, I don't know... maybe in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.' Mel Brooks wants to make Spaceballs 2

6 February 2015 2:50 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s been close to thirty years since the release of Spaceballs, so surely the chances of Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money becoming a reality has passed, right? Well, perhaps not, as Mel Brooks has been speaking to Adam Carolla on the Take a Knee podcast, and it seems he’s not given up hope on a follow-up to the 1987 comedy classic.

“I was thinking about Spaceballs the other day. In Spaceballs, in the movie, Bill Pullman says to me, Yogurt, just plain Yogurt, he says ‘Do you think we’ll ever meet again?’ and I say ‘Well, I don’t know…maybe in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.’ And I’m thinking now, if I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars comes out — maybe a couple of months later — I’d have a big weekend, you know? Mel Brooks Wants ‘Spaceballs 2’ If Rick Moranis is Willing

6 February 2015 2:42 PM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Internet is going crazy with the possibility of “Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money” being in the works.

Well, not so fast.

Everything hinges on retired actor Rick Moranis reprising the famous role as Dark Helmet. The Canadian actor hasn’t been in anything since he provided his voice for 2006’s “Brother Bear 2.” And he physically hasn’t starred in a movie since 1997’s “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.”

Spaceballs” director Mel Brooks told Adam Carolla’s “Take a Knee” podcast that he’s working on “Spaceballs 2” and already approached the actor to replay Dark Helmet. The movie will only happen if Moranis comes out of retirement for it.

Here’s the quote from the podcast:

“Maybe I could do another musical, maybe I could do another movie. I was thinking about Spaceballs the other day. In Spaceballs, in the movie, Bill Pullman says to me, Yogurt, just plain Yogurt, »
