Ready For A Mini Original 'Melrose Place' Reunion?!?!

Kristin Santos of E! News reports that original MP alum Amanda (Heather Locklear), Jane (Josie Bissett), Michael (Thomas Calabro) and Jo (Daphne Zuniga) will all reunite in the courtyard of 4616 Melrose Place on the 16th episode of the new series. The setting? A big party in the courtyard that I bet Amanda will behind. It reminds me when Amanda threw a party in the courtyard to celebrate new beginnings in season two's first episode, where she officially joined the cast as a Special Guest Star. Is this the same scenario here? Also, this event will mark the first time that more than two characters from the original show has appeared onscreen together in the new series. Hopefully Sydney could appear in a flashback or something to make it five?

Melrose Place is going back to its roots! They’ve let Ashlee Simpson go, and now they’re planning on bringing back even more original cast members. We’ve already gotten confirmation that Heather Locklear is back on the show, and now Us Weekly reports that fans can look forward to seeing four original characters reunite in one scene. The Fashion Shoot From Hell
Despite Riley being pumped for her photo shoot, she has the jitters, but mostly because she feels bad for lying to her class about being sick. Really, Riley? Jonah, on the other hand, has a meeting with a big shot producer on the Paramount Studios lot, which he is surprisingly calm for on the outside. The couple is as happy as two Walt Disney characters in love, and even has birds building a nest outside their house. Boy, how much a day can change!

Seven episodes in, we can conclusively say that Melrose Place gets more right than it gets wrong. Unfortunately, what is wrong with the show is often So Unbelievably Bad that it's 2-3 eye-rolling moments that end up sticking in your brain each week.
Let's start with the good things about last night:
Lauren and David. Holy chemistry! He offered to help her with her late tuition and she grew suspicious of where he gets his money, and busted him stealing. This led to a heated exchange that made us long for even more heat between them. Riley and Jonah. As Riley left in the morning for her modeling shoot and Jonah for his meeting at Paramount, expectations were high for the couple. They were not met. Tonight's new episode of Melrose Place is all about Jessica Lucas' Riley.
Agreeing to be a model, in order to help support her and her financially-challeged fiance Jonah, Riley falls under the direction of former cast member Daphne Zuniga, who reprises her role as Jo Reynolds.
As a clip from the show has revealed, viewers may be seeing more of Riley than ever before this week... literally!
Meanwhile, in an interview with TV Guide, Lucas speaks on what's to come for her character and for the show in general. A few excerpts:
On Riley hanging out with Jo: It's a coincidence. She's the photographer for the [Anton V.] shoot. Riley is actually a huge fan of hers because she took pictures of Darfur that Riley studied at Nyu. They have a weird connection in that way.

Daphne Zuniga is to appear in tonight's episode of The CW's Melrose Place reboot. The actress, who played Jo Reynolds in the original Fox series from 1992 to 1996, was confirmed to reprise her role in two episodes of the update in July. But the focus of "Windsor" is really on Riley.
Sure, Jo is a successful photographer that has been traveling around the world, including shoots in Darfur and other war-torn areas of the globe. But Riley will find herself in trouble professionally and personally this week.

David Cronenberg Remaking The Fly ... Again?

This seems quite unexpected. David Cronenberg is set to revisit his 1986 classic remake of The Fly by developing a new reboot of the film with Fox, directing and potentially writing the update. Based upon the 1958 sci-fi classic by Kurt Neumann, Cronenberg remade The Fly with Jeff Goldblum in the lead as Seth Brundle, an eccentric scientist who, after an experiment with teleportation goes awry, is transformed into a fly. Geena Davis starred as Goldblum's love interest and partner, Veronica. FX artist Chris Walas directed a follow-up in 1989 which took place directly after the events of the first film and starred Eric Stoltz and Daphne Zuniga. Although it's early in the development process, it'll be interesting to see how Cronenberg tackles The Fly for a second time. After »

Executive producers for TV series "Melrose Place" have announced on Tuesday, September 22 that Heather Locklear will return to the show. "We're ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to 'Melrose Place,' " Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer said in a statement.
"Heather's involvement in the show is something we've been working on for some time as we couldn't imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character's inclusion," Todd and Darren continued. According to Access Hollywood, the 47-year-old beauty's first appearance is scheduled to be on the November 17 episode of the hit CW show.
In August, Daphne Zuniga mentioned that she was very excited about the possibility of her co-star Heather Locklear returning to "Melrose Place", saying "No one is Heather. Nobody. The new [b**** on the show], I think her name is Ella, she's lovely, she's great as being a b****, but nobody is Heather Locklear as far as that goes. »
