Aliens Make Contact in New Falling Skies Trailer

28 December 2010 7:11 PM, PST | Horror News | See recent Horror News news »

When the aliens came to town they arrived in really big ships, and we weren’t gonna attack them with the nuclear bombs ’cause they might’ve wanted to be friends. Told from a child’s perspective the new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s alien invasion series Falling Skies packs a wallop. Created by DreamWorks Television Falling Skies follows the same formula established by War Of The Worlds, and the invading aliens are tentacle monsters with lots of crazy weaponry that can disable human technolgy and the only explanation for their attack apears to be conquering the Earth and its inhabitants. The only thing standing in the alien’s way is Noah Wyle and his group of civilians planning to get their civil unrest on. Their plan is to make so much trouble that the invading alien force will turn tail and run, not bothering to take over the puny »

Watch: TNT teases Steven Spielberg's 'Falling Skies'

28 December 2010 4:52 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

TNT has unveiled the first glimpse of Steven Spielberg's summer aliens series "Falling Skies."   In this extended teaser -- you might have seen it as pre-show entertainment at AMC movie theaters as early as last week -- we get the basic premise for the Robert Rodat-created series: ETs arrive on Earth. ETs aren't nice. Humanity falls. Humanity tries to rise again, with the help of a scruffy-yet-erudite Noah Wyle.   Wyle's character is a history professor who, in true Spielberg tradition, has to lead the uprising and protect his two sons, while also seeking out his third son, captured by »

'Falling Skies' trailer: Noah Wyle battles aliens in Steven Spielberg's new TNT series

AMC has zombies. HBO has vampires. And this summer, TNT will be getting aliens. The basic cable channel released its first trailer for Falling Skies, the upcoming Steven Spielberg-produced series about life on Earth six months after an alien invasion. Of course, nobody does ETs better than Spielberg, so our expectations for this two-minutes of footage were pretty high. We were not disappointed. There’s a creepy little kids voice-over setting up the plot (“They didn’t want to be friends — not at all…”), a couple of classic Spielbergian reaction shots (close up on star Noah Wyle gazing into »

'Falling Skies': See the trailer for TNT's new series

28 December 2010 7:09 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The aliens are coming. They'll be here in June, actually.

The first trailer for TNT's new series "Falling Skies" has hit the web, and while you won't see a whole lot of the invading extraterrestrial horde, it's a well-made teaser nonetheless. The show, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, stars Noah Wyle as a history professor who becomes a resistance leader after an alien invasion decimates the planet.

The trailer (which opens with a spooky, Spielbergian bit of narration by a little girl describing the invasion) shows a good bit of the invasion, but the series will focus more on the human resistance: Wyle is the father of three sons, one of whom has been captured by the invaders, and as he tries to lead people against the aliens, he's also trying to be a good dad. The two-minute teaser, which is below, reminds us a little of an earthbound "Battlestar Galactica »

TNT has released a trailer for its new show, Falling Skies, set to premiere in the summer of 2011. With Steven Spielberg as an executive producer, Noah Wyle as the star and hordes of bloodthirsty aliens as enemies, there's a good chance that TNT has a hit on its hands.

But how original is Falling Skies? Could it be just the first in a potentially long line of shows trying to recreate the success of The Walking Dead?

First Trailer for Steven Spielberg-Produced Alien Invasion Series Falling Skies

TNT has debuted the first trailer for Falling Skies, an alien invasion drama executive produced by Steven SpielbergNoah Wyle (ER) stars as "a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force."  Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Drew Roy (Secretariat), Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters), and Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender) also star. My hope is that the Spielberg influence acts as a counterbalance to the potential limitations of a basic cable budget.  The trailer is encouraging in this respect, in that I see nothing hokey about what is presented.  Certainly nothing that my man Noah Wyle can't overcome.  Judge for yourself after the jump. Courtesy of Pop Wrap [via io9]: To frame an extraterrestrial presence from a child's point of view seems like a very Spileberg-ian thing to do.  This exchange really struck me: "We weren't gonna attack them with »

Video: First Trailer for Steven Spielberg's Falling Skies

27 December 2010 5:15 PM, PST | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

In TNT's alien-invasion drama Falling Skies, due next summer, Noah Wyle stars as the de facto resistance leader against aliens who invaded Earth. The producers insist the drama will focus on what the aliens left behind rather than the invasion itself, although you wouldn't get that from the first trailer.

Check out the rest of today's news

The series from Steven Spielberg seems to draw not only from his own War of the Worlds remake — an adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel — but from many sci-fi facets, including Battlestar Galactica (with cylon-looking drones) and V (with the idea of joining a resistance).

You’ve seen the pictures, now here’s the first trailer for TNT’s new sci-fi series “Falling Skies”, which stars Noah Wylie of “ER” fame as a college professor turned resistance leader who takes to the hills to escape the invading alien horde. Noah Wyle returns to episodic television in the summer of 2011, in Steven Spielberg's new alien series Falling Skies, which will be airing on TNT.  Wylie was last seen on television in TNT's very popular Librarian television movies, which is also rumored to be hitting the big screen in the future.  Moon Bloodgood, who recently stared in Terminator Salvation, will also be joining Wyle in this new series about a group of people struggling against an alien force that invaded Earth.

Below are several photos from the pilot episode, as well as a full length trailer for the new series.

Trailer: Falling Skies

27 December 2010 2:07 PM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

TNT has finally released its first trailer for Falling Skies, its new sci-fi/action series set in the months following a devastating all-out alien invasion of Earth. Back in March I reviewed the pilot script for the project (which still hadn't found its title) and found it to be a gripping take on a worn out science fiction idea. The last time I was so enthusiastic about a script for a pilot TV series it was for The Walking Dead.

The trailer for Falling Skies doesn't do much to show that there's more to this show than humans vs. aliens but if you read my review of the Falling Skies pilot script you'll soon see that there's a lot of dramatic material that can be mined from the idea. For starters, there's nothing in the trailer that shows how desperate the human survivors are, or how it's the children that »

Promo Trailer for Steven Spielberg's new Sci-Fi Series Falling Skies

I recently hit up a movie, and during the pre-show entertainment I saw the first promo trailer for Steven Spielberg's new TV series Falling Skies. I got home did a search for it, and found it on YouTube so I thought i'd share it with you.

Falling Skies stars Noah Wylie from ER as he deals with an alien invasion. It looks like it has some heavy production value which is cool. It's nothing that we haven't seen before, but it looks like a fun series that was done very well.

Trailer For Steven Spielberg’s Alien Invasion TV Show ‘Falling Skies,’

27 December 2010 1:00 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

If you caught True Grit or other films in theaters this past week you might have seen the first trailer for Falling Skies, the Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion show that will air on TNT in June 2011. Now the trailer is online, so you can see a grizzled Noah Wylie fend off aliens that occupy Earth, after the break. This looks like rather familiar stuff -- think District 9 crossed with Red Dawn and War of the Worlds. But the production value is pretty high and it looks like it might be fun, and the long-form allowances that come from the expanded running time of a TV series could offer some good character depth. Falling Skies is an exciting new series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Noah Wyle (ER, TNT's The Librarian movies) stars as a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of »
