From Crust To ‘Creed’ – Stallone Delivers Michael B. Jordan Sucker Punch

15 April 2015 4:49 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Viewers in the UK who woke up thinking “Did I really see Sylvester Stallone in an ad for Warburtons bread last night?” may be reassured to know Sly is still working the day job. His Instagram account has played host to a production still of him in action with Michael B. Jordan for upcoming Rocky spin-off Creed. Here’s the pic:

The plot sees Jordan as the son – named Adonis! – of Carl Weathers’ legendary opponent track down his late father’s old sparring partner Rocky Balboa (Stallone) so he can be trained up as slugger par excellence. As you may remember Weathers exited the franchise during part IV back in the mid-Eighties, when a fledgling Dolph Lundgren beat him to a fatal pulp.

Ryan Coogler is directing from his and Aaron Covington’s script. Stallone is also back on production duties with Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff. The movie is set for release in November. »

Sylvester Stallone has given “Rocky” fans the first look at upcoming spinoff “Creed,” starring Michael B. Jordan. The photo shows Stallone in character as Rocky Balboa training the grandson of his fellow boxing alumnus, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), who was permanently knocked out by Russian boxer Ivan Drago during an exhibition match in “Rocky IV.” “Creed,” which is currently shooting in Philadelphia, is being directed by Ryan Coogler, who caught Hollywood’s eye in 2013 when he wrote and directed “Fruitvale Station.” Jordan played the lead role in the film, which was based on the real-life story of Oscar Grant, who was. »

Creed: First Look at Michael B. Jordan Sparring with Sylvester Stallone

13 April 2015 10:09 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Among the upper echelons of great, ridiculous deaths in film, there is the passing of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), and then there's anything else. When last we saw Apollo breathing, he was getting bashed into oblivion by Dolph Lundgren's merciless Ivan Drago, following one of the most gratuitous pageants of Americana ever to be put to celluloid. For crying out loud, the man came into the ring being announced by James Brown and wore a bejeweled Uncle Sam hat to mark the occasion. One can expect far less glitz and glamour in Creed, the film which unspools the story of Creed's grandson, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan), getting trained by the one and only Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), and Sly took to Instagram today to debut the first photo from the film, showing him and Jordan getting ready to spar in the ring. Sylvester Stallone offers up the first look at Creed in which he once again stars as Rocky Balboa alongside Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers in the first four Rocky features. Here's the official synopsis: Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there's no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed's legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa. Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo--the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, »

Adam Sandler and Bob Barker Reignite 'Happy Gilmore' Feud

5 March 2015 10:57 AM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

It's been nearly a decade since Adam Sandler squared off with former Price Is Right host Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore, but their feud is still going strong.

Donning a Boston Bruins hockey jersey like the one he wore in the 1996 comedy, Sandler is seen visiting Barker in the hospital in a promo for Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars, which airs Sunday and raises money for autism programs.

Photos: Favorite TV and Movie Cast Reunions

When Sandler asks Barker how he's feeling, the insults begin. "I'm fine. But you know, you are looking old. How old are you, 60?" Barker asks. "You're looking chunkier than this soup … I guess doing all those movies without me took its toll."

Sandler bites back, "I think Price Is Right is on now, we could watch that. Love the host [Drew Carey]. He's just so funny and not crotchety, angry."

Adam Sandler's second movie after leaving Saturday Night Live was Happy Gilmore, which has grown a huge cult following over the years and helped launch the comedian as one of today's biggest box office stars. Well, that old grudge match is back on in a new video for the upcoming charity event Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs, which airs on Comedy Central this Sunday, March 8.

Mortal Kombat X to star Predator

18 February 2015 8:31 PM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

New Dlc for Mortal Kombat X is going to feature one ugly mother...

The Mortal Kombat series already has a very reputable roster of deadly warriors, with the likes of Scorpion, Raiden, Sub Zero, and Kano, and it's already welcomed special crossover fighters, including God Of War's Kratos, and the dream demon himself, Freddy Krueger. With Mortal Kombat X, the roster looks like it's going to be graced with another special guest, one of extra terrestrial origin, as the Predator signs up for some gruesome action.

Ripping spines out out his victims long before Sub Zero patented the infamous move, the Predator is one of cinema's most iconic villains, and has gone head to head with Alien's xenomorphs many times in film and gaming, and in comics it's fought some of the biggest characters, including Superman, Batman, Judge Dredd, and the Terminator. Well, now it's time for the Mortal Kombat »

Mortal Kombat X May Feature Predator-Themed Dlc

18 February 2015 9:58 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X may feature Predator-themed Dlc, if a source closer to Videogamer is to be believed.

Granted, neither party has come forth to confirm or deny the report, though the purported content pack isn’t exactly outside the realm of possibility. In July of last year, shortly after the latest iteration of the famed brawler was revealed, series creator Ed Boon Tweeted a fan illustration that superimposed the titular alien opposite the game’s Scorpion character, fuelling speculation that the creative team is, at the very least, weighing up the option of including the Predator at some point down the line.

In fact, Videogamer’s report states that this purported add-on will include much more than just the stealthy extra-terrestrial, as apparently actor Carl Weathers (also known as Colonel Al Dillion in the cult sci-fi classic) has offered up his likeness and voice for the upcoming brawler, »

‘Point Break’ Reboot Moved to Christmas 2015

3 February 2015 5:20 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Warner Bros. has moved its reboot of “Point Break” back nearly five months from July 31 to Christmas — essentially swapping dates with Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible 5.”

The action-thriller, starring Edgar Ramirez (pictured above) and Luke Bracey, is directed by Ericson Core from Kurt Wimmer’s screenplay. Ramirez plays the part portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the 1991 original, while Bracey plays Johnny Utah, originally acted by Keanu Reeves.

Warner Bros. made the move a week after Paramount decided to move “Mission: Impossible 5″ forward from Christmas to July 31.

Alcon Entertainment began developing the project in 2011, when it acquired rights to the property with plans to set the reboot in the world of extreme sports. Alcon co-chairman Andrew Kosove told Variety that the new date should be attractive to moviegoers — even with Disney’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” launching a week before on Dec. 18.

Toy Story 4: what can we expect?

13 January 2015 5:59 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Can the post-Toy Story 3 shorts tell us anything about the upcoming direction of Pixar's Toy Story 4?

This article contains spoilers for Toy Story 3.

It seems to have become surprisingly tough to keep an open mind about Toy Story 4. Pixar have a mostly excellent track record in these things, especially when it comes to the Toy Story series. We struggle to think of a more consistently brilliant trilogy of films, so why were so many upset about the very real possibility of a fourth, also brilliant instalment, when it was announced last year?

Although some would cite the Cars films, or the impossible and yet still disappointing expectation that Monsters University would live up to Monsters Inc, it doesn't come down to anything so jaded. In all of the ways that Toy Story 3 is an excellent film, it's mostly because it feels like a near unimprovable conclusion to the series. »
