Poster For Aaron Sorkin's Highly Anticipated 'The Newsroom' Plus A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Show

25 May 2012 9:39 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

To say we're excited for Aaron Sorkin's return to television with "The Newsroom" would be an understatement. Having been fans of all his previous small screen ventures -- "Sports Night," "The West Wing" and even "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" -- we can't wait to see what he cooks up here. The show is another behind-the-scenes tale from Sorkin, following beleaguered Acn news anchor Will (Jeff Daniels), who faces a major change when his co-anchor bails for another program and takes most of the staff with him. With the pressure on him to carry the show and deliver ratings while trying to get along with the staff, sparks fly (and the first three trailers have certainly proved that). Daniels' supporting team includes quality thesps such as Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Jane Fonda, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, Josh Pence, John Gallagher Jr. and Thomas Sadosky, along with »

Brilliant New Promo and First Poster for Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom

24 May 2012 1:30 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Aaron Sorkin’s return to television is all but a certainty to be one of the best things to happen to the small screen this year. Scratch that: since he brought us Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

The anticipation has been high ever since the show was first announced – it always will be when you’re dealing with Sorkin – and then along came the first trailer at the start of last month and raised the bar that much higher.

Adding to that, HBO have put out a great new promo ahead and the first poster for the show of its debut next month, with the poster bearing the awesome tagline that was originally to the programme’s name, ‘More as this story develops.’

““The Newsroom” is a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program. Focusing on a network anchor (played by Jeff Daniels), his new »

23 May 2012 5:20 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series The Newsroom is getting closer and Thn has a couple more teasers and the poster for this very interesting upcoming saga starring Jeff Daniels as key anchor Will McAvoy. This isn’t any standard set-up as the 24-news network he’s working for is falling fast in the ratings game but they decide to change something and, it’s big, as they try to go back to basics for reporting but as you can see…this isn’t going to be a smooth transition.

These little snippets introduce us a little further to the ensemble cast including Emily Mortimer who’ll play Mackenzie MacHale, an  executive producer plus more newsroom staff who will be played by John Gallagher Jr, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel and Sam Waterson, to name a select few. HBO’s The Newsroom debuts in the Us on Sunday, June 24th and will »

21 May 2012 6:40 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first official poster has been released for Aaron Sorkin's new HBO drama, The Newsroom. The series stars Jeff Daniels as the primary anchor of a failing 24-hour news network who is ready to break the monotony of cable news and go back to the roots of informing his audience. We already saw his character have a fantastic (and much publicized) outburst in the first trailer.  Then, The Newsroom followed up with a series of additional trailers that developed a bit more of the storyline and also introduced us to the rest of the cast:  such as Daniels' character's new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn) and their boss (Sam Waterston).  Now, we have the first look at the official poster (in addition to some shorter trailers, in case you've missed the previous ones).  Hit the jump »

Terrific New Trailer For Sorkin’s Newsroom

14 May 2012 3:32 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Here is the third trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s new drama The Newsroom, starring Jeff Daniels.

As demonstrated in trailers one and two, The Newsroom looks to carry the wit and gravitas that made The West Wing and Studio 60 so damn good. Far too liberal for some (dicks), Sorkin is at his best when his work is politically infused, but never losing sight of the characters and their own social microcosms. This new trailer gives us a better look at the supporting players in what will hopefully be one of the big television events of the year.

We are particularly excited about the inclusion of Skins alumni Dev Patel and star of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Alison Pill. Here’s the official synopsis and new trailer.

This new series centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (John Gallagher, »

New Trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s HBO Series The Newsroom

13 May 2012 7:57 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

A new trailer for Oscar-winning screenwriter and The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin’s latest series, The Newsroom, has gone online.  This builds on the basic set-up introduced in the previous two trailers gets a bit more into what the plot may look like in the first few episodes beyond the pilot.  Jeff Daniels stars as the primary anchor of a floundering 24-hour news network who’s ready to break the monotony of lazy and gutless cable news.  I’m a self-professed Sorkin nut so I may be a bit biased, but I really like what we’ve seen from the series thus far.  My only concern is that the show could become too much of a soapbox for Sorkin’s worldviews a la Studio 60, but hopefully his knack for snappy dialogue and romantic characters reigns the preach-factor in a bit.  Moreover, this new trailer has 100% more David Krumholtz »

Watch: Yes, It's Another Great Trailer For Aaron Sorkin's 'The Newsroom'

13 May 2012 2:03 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While summer is the season to hit the multiplex for the most sensational big screen entertainment you'll see all year, HBO is giving you at least one reason to stay at home on Sunday nights: Aaron Sorkin's latest series "The Newsroom."

A brand new trailer has arrived for the show and it's increasingly looking like a major TV comeback for the Academy Award-winning writer, after his last network effort "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" fizzeld out after a single season. Another behind-the-scenes tale, this show follows beleagured Acn news anchor Will (Jeff Daniels), who faces a major change when his co-anchor bails for another show and takes most of the staff with him. With the pressure on him to carry the show and deliver ratings, while trying to get along with the staff, sparks fly. So far, this looks great -- hilarious, politically charged and carrying some serious dramatic weight. »

'The Newsroom': Aaron Sorkin's new HBO show has a sense of humor after all

Trailer #2

HBO has released a second teaser for its new series "The Newsroom," and this one is considerably less self-serious than one released a few weeks ago.

The clip from creator Aaron Sorkin's third TV show about a TV show still focuses mostly on Jeff Daniels' veteran news anchor and his producer (Emily Mortimer). It also opens up a little, though, to showcase the young staff members played by Allison Pill, Dev Patel and Thomas Sadoski, among others. There's definitely more of a "Sports Night"/"Broadcast News" vibe to the teaser.

And based on this clip, "The Newsroom" looks a lot more like a show we'd watch than the ponderous one teased in the first trailer. Sam Waterston, as Daniels' boss, and Jane Fonda, playing the owner of the network, also have a couple sharp moments. We got a chuckle out of long-time "Law & Order" prosecutor Waterston saying "America needed a lawyer. »

New Trailer For Sorkin’s The Newsroom

30 April 2012 9:35 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Top writer and producer Aaron Sorkin, most recently known for his exceptional contributions to creation of  Moneyball’s screenplay, is gearing up for the release of his new HBO series The Newsroom with a brand new trailer.

Whereas the first trailer released for the programme focused heavily on the dramatisation and the downfall of news anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) the new footage delves deeper into the plot and the dark workings of the media industry. Not to mention the added touch of some rapier wit laced into the dialogue.

The Newsroom also stars Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, Sam Waterson, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr and Thomas Sadoski.

New Trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom

A new trailer for Aaron Sorkin's upcoming HBO series The Newsroom has gone online.  The first trailer played to the dramatic aspects of the series, but the new one hits on Sorkin's whip-smart dialogue almost to the point of self-parody (when Alison Pill's character talks about mixing up Georgia the state with Georgia the country, I could easily hear the dialogue coming out of Donna Moss' mouth).  The new trailer also does a better job of laying out the plot and establishing the different characters and their relationships. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The show stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, and Sam WaterstonThe Newsroom premieres June 24th at 10/9c. »

Evan Shapiro: TV's 17 Best Issue-tainment Shows of All Time

19 April 2012 6:25 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

On April 7, Mike Wallace, the lion of the TV news magazine died. Wallace was more than a news man. He was a former actor and game show host who found a way to seamlessly blend news and entertainment into a combination that was far more than a sum of its parts. Wallace -- first on Night Beat, then on 60 Minutes -- didn't just investigate or report. He turned interviewing into a blood sport -- becoming both one of the most liked and feared men on television as a result. He brought the same intensity and enthusiasm to every interview -- be it entertainers, world leaders or criminals -- even once calling Ayatollah Khomeini a lunatic, to his face.

This got him into trouble at times -- settling a lawsuit with General Westmoreland; losing a battle with CBS over a tobacco industry whistleblower -- but it also made him something rare »
