In 1956, he won a Tony
Award as Best Actor in a Musical for playing Mr. Applegate in "Damn Yankees".
In 1961, he co-starred in re-working of a 1960 pilot for a comedy TV series. This version, called "Harry's Business" had Elena Verdugo playing a Midwestern country girl who had difficulty adjusting to life in San Francisco.
