Is there something about classic movie fans that makes us more obsessive than your average cinemagoer? Does the fact that we often have to search for years for that obscure Western or noir on DVD mean we're more appreciative when we finally see it? Would most of us rather watch a 1960s Bond movie at the multiplex than a modern CGI-fest?
Those are some of the questions I asked myself as I left my home (and DVD collection) in the UK to fly 5,000 miles to the third annual TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood over the weekend of 12-15 April 2012. A gathering of thousands of movie aficionados from around the globe, this spin-off from the Us cable TV channel promises attendees that they'll see some of the best films ever made, often in the company of the people who made them, in the way they were meant to be seen. »

If you’ve hunted around for movie bargains, you’ve probably seen some of Mill Creek Entertainment’s 50-Movie Packs on DVD. Apart from other great releases by Mill Creek, these packs are phenomenal boons to cinephiles looking to collect older titles.
There are three new packs available, and I want to not only let you in on a discount code, but I have one of the packs available for you to win.
I know a lot of people may be quick to overlook these packs, and not every movie included stands out as a major value, but there are some great titles in each of them, and fans of the genres will be pleasantly surprised by what they get out of the deal. I have to admit that there is something about seeing a 50-movie pack, especially when it doesn’t cost a couple of hundred dollars, or more, »

Natalie Wood's sister fears for the life of her troubled niece Courtney, insisting the 38 year old has "spiralled out of control".
Courtney Wagner - the daughter of actor Robert Wagner and the late Rebel Without a Cause beauty Wood - was arrested on 22 April on suspicion of cocaine and heroin possession after cops were called to her California home to investigate reports of a domestic disturbance and the sound of gunfire. She was released after posting $10,000 (£6,250) bail.
And now the tragic icon's sister and Diamonds Are Forever actress Lana Wood has opened up about her grave concerns for Courtney, admitting the she turned to drugs once cops reopened the case into her famous mother's drowning last year.
She tells the National Enquirer, "My sister would be devastated if she knew how Courtney has ruined her life. She was Natalie's golden girl - the child she always longed for with R. J. (Wagner)... She was a stunning child and just so young when Natalie died. Both parents doted on her. But R.J.'s love hasn't saved her from a life that's spiralled out of control...
"She was rushed to the hospital some years ago after attempting suicide, but in the past few years the poor girl has become an emotional tragedy. For a time she was receiving psychiatric care... This is a terrible tragedy."
Natalie passed away in November, 1981, when Courtney was just seven years old. The investigation into her drowning death off the coast of California death has since been ruled a cold case. »

Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies were responding to a call about a possible shooting at Wagner's Malibu-area home. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple handguns and baggies of what appeared to be narcotics, according to sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner's daughter has been arrested on suspicion of drug possession after an incident at her California house which led to a gunshot. Courtney Wagner, 38, was detained after cops were called to her home in Malibu earlier this month to investigate reports of a domestic disturbance and the sound of gunfire. Police officers detained Wagner on suspicion of felony drug possession after allegedly finding cocaine and heroin at the property, while an unnamed male was arrested on a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm, according to TMZ.com. Nobody was hurt in the incident and Wagner was released on $10,000 (£6,250) bail the following day. Courtney's mother, Natalie Wood, drowned off the coast of Catalina Island in 1981, while on a trip with Robert Wagner and Christopher Walken. But decades since the on-screen siren's death, there are still whisperings of foul play. In November 2011, Los Angeles police uncovered »

Courtney Wood, the 38-year-old daughter of Robert Wagner and the late Natalie Wood, was arrested on Sunday (April 29) for possession of cocaine and heroin at her Malibu home.
Cops were called to her house, reports TMZ, after a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot and a woman screaming. When officers arrived, they determined she was in possession of illegal drugs and she was placed under arrest. Another person in the house was also arrested for "negligent discharge of a firearm."
Wood posted $10,000 and is now, we presume, back home. No official statement has been made by either wood or her father.
Wood drowned after falling off of a boat docked on California's Catalina Island in March 1981. »

Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner's daughter, Courtney Wagner, has been arrested for cocaine and heroin possession, stemming from a violent incident last Sunday, TMZ reports.
Wagner was involved in a heated altercation inside of her Malibu home that ended with a gunshot. A bystander, who heard screaming and the gunshot from the house, called the police. Upon their arrival, authorities found both cocaine and heroin in the 38-year-old's home. The film legends' daughter is reportedly charged with suspicion of felony drug possession and is currently out on bail.
As for the gunshot, no one was wounded but the unidentified male with whom Wagner was arguing was arrested for "negligent discharge of a firearm," according to TMZ.

There’s truly no place quite like Hollywood. For the third straight year, the TCM Classic Film Festival was staged in the historic center of the world’s film industry. The event once again united a great community of film fans. The 2012 event celebrated style in the movies, from fashion to architecture and everything in between and lined up great films, terrific guests and many special events.
There were so many classic films to choose from over the 4-day festival, it was nearly impossible to decide what to see! Here are a few of my favorites from the weekend.
Auntie Mame (1958) .
Fantastically restored, and screened at the legendary Egyptian Theater, this Rosalind Russell classic was easily a fan fave at the festival. Even at 9am on a Saturday morning, the house was packed. The screening was hosted by two-time Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Film Scholar Cari Beauchamp, »

Liza Minnelli, Kim Novak, Robert Wagner, Tippi Hedren and Debbie Reynolds in person. Black Narcissus, Vertigo, Cabaret, and The Fountainhead projected on gigantic screens at Grauman's Chinese and Egyptian Theatres. Could any classic film fan wish for more? You could. And, at this year's annual TCM Classic Film Festival, which takes place from April 12th through the 15th, you'd get more: Kirk Douglas, Stanley Donen, Angie Dickenson, Norman Lloyd, Rhonda Fleming, and Norman Jewison appearing at special events and screenings of Two for the Road, Chinatown, Casablanca, The Longest Day, and The Thomas Crown Affair. But before going on about this year's festival, a look back is essential.

AMC is preparing to develop a TV series adaptation of Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s new produced comic book, “Thief of Thieves”.
According to Deadline, the show will be a series of heist stories, described by Kirkman as follows: “Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals.”
The story “centers on master thief Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife and son, vows to walk the straight and narrow, only to discover he’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the Thief of Thieves.”
The comic is being written by Nick Spencer, with artwork created by Shawn Martinbrough. Chic Eglee »

Dolores Hart was an actress whose career was on the rise and who was engaged to marry an adoring fiance when she chose to enter the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut and begin an existence as a Benedictine nun. Directed by Rebecca Cammisa (of 2009's "Which Way Home"), the Oscar-nominated short documentary "God Is the Bigger Elvis" uses Hart's story as a way to gentle examine what would lead a woman to choose the cloistered, strict lifestyle of a monastery in the contemporary age. The film, which premieres on HBO this Thursday, April 5th at 8pm, knows it has an almost too-good-to-be-true subject in Hart, who's become Mother Prioress of the abbey and is a warm, twinkly-eyed presence. She was a woman who seems to have had everything, including beauty, love, contract offers and roles alongside Montgomery Clift, George Hamilton and Robert Wagner, as well as, of course, »

Bradford Dillman: A Compulsively Watchable Actor
By Harvey Chartrand
In a career that has spanned 43 years, Bradford Dillman accumulated more than 500 film and TV credits. The slim, handsome and patrician Dillman may have been the busiest actor in Hollywood during the late sixties and early seventies, working non-stop for years. In 1971 alone, Dillman starred in seven full-length feature films. And this protean output doesn’t include guest appearances on six TV shows that same year.
Yale-educated Dillman first drew good notices in the early 1950s on the Broadway stage and in live TV shows, such as Climax and Kraft Television Theatre. After making theatrical history playing Edmund Tyrone in the first-ever production of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night in 1956, Dillman landed the role of blueblood psychopath Artie Straus in the crime-and-punishment thriller Compulsion (1959), for which he »

Walken was never named as a suspect in the subsequent death investigation ... in fact, nobody was ... and investigators eventually ruled her death as an accident. »
