In The Show, a thriller directed by Giancarlo Esposito (of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fame), Josh Duhamel plays Adam Rogers, a reality show host who finds himself in an unusual situation.

Rogers is a Chris Harrison-like figure who hosts a dating show that ends in an attempted murder, wherein the runner-up tries to shoot and kill the winner.

As a result of Rogers' quick thinking, he is heralded as a "national hero" (here, James Franco plays an excitable morning show host who heaps praise on Rogers), and »

23 June 2017 10:25 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Believe it or not, 1987’s “Predator” could have been even more badass. Seriously, even with the already macho team-up of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, and Jesse Ventura, there actually was going to be one more person that would have made it even better – Jean-Claude Van Damme. That’s right, Jcvd was actually originally cast as the Predator.

Batman and Robin Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Tales of Terror from the Set

20 June 2017 1:38 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Batman & Robin turns 20 years old today! Director Joel Schumacher and some of the cast look back at the most polarizing installment of the 1990s Batman series. Included is a horrifying story about the time battery acid leaked into Arnold Schwarzenegger's mouth. Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of Tim Burton's Batman Returns, which was Burton's second and final Batman movie. To many, it was also the last good Batman movie until Christopher Nolan's take on the Dark Knight in 2005. 1997 saw the release of Schumacher's Batman & Robin, a movie that fans and critics tore apart, making it out to be the nail in the coffin for the Batman series that Burton had started.

Though there are plenty of reasons why the movie didn't perform to expectations, the first reason would have to be the hunger to keep the franchise going. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Batman & Robin was going to happen no matter what, »

Predator movie facts! 30 things you didn’t know about the classic action movie

It’s hard to believe that it was so long ago that we first saw Arnie go toe-to-toe with an invisible alien. It’s easily one of the films that Schwarzenegger is best known for, and even today it’s a spectacular sci-fi, action horror. It’s such a strong film that it’s still inspiring further explorations into the franchise, director Shane Black (who starred in Predator) is currently hard at work on The Predator.

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!  That’s all I kept thinking when I read the news that the daytime “talk show” host might be running for Governor in the state of Ohio.   Business Insider is reporting that over a half a dozen “influential Ohio Democrats are pushing the daytime-tv host Jerry Springer to run for Ohio governor in 2018.” The thing is this: at first it might be kind of surprising to find out this news but then you look at the obvious.  Donald Trump is our President.   Arnold Schwarzenegger was a governor.   Jesse Ventura was a governor.  Kane from the WWE is

We’ve seen plenty of celebrities in political office ever since Ronald Regan was President in the 80s.  We have a celebrity President now in Donald Trump.  We had celebrity governors in Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura.  Al Frankin is on the Senate, and the list goes on and on.   This is by no means new but have we ever had a celebrity in politics with the slogan, “Bawitdaba da bang da bang diggy diggy diggy?”   Probably not.  But in 2018 we just might because Kid Rock is reportedly in the running for a Senate seat in Michigan. Review: This Was The Xfl

5 February 2017 3:49 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

In 2000, the WWE could do no wrong. They were at the top of the ratings chart with Monday Night Raw, The Rock was just hitting his stride as one of the greatest performers in wrestling history, and the company made it’s way public, becoming listed on the New York Stock Exchange. So when the WWE announced they had plans to create a new football league, to say people were interested is putting it mildly.

This Was The Xfl is a documentary detailing the life and times of the failed football league the WWE and NBC created. It’s a warts and all look at what went into the creation of the league and the events that led to it’s demise.

What struck me about the documentary was the confirmation of something I’ve already suspected and that’s the fact that Vince McMahon put no real thought into the development of the league. »

‘This Was the Xfl’ Director on Vince McMahon, Concussions and Whether League Could Make a Comeback

2 February 2017 4:34 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

When the Xfl kicked off its first and only football season on NBC in 2000, it did so to a Nielsen ratings more than double what the broadcaster had promised advertisers. By the time that season ended, the league was posting record lows for its Saturday-night time period.

A partnership between NBC and the WWE, the Xfl is largely remembered as the most significant failure of the two men who spearheaded it — WWE founder Vince McMahon and longtime NBC Sports President Dick Ebersol. Taking its cues from McMahon’s wrestling operation, the league billed itself as a more violent, more titillating, more fun alternative to the NFL. But with a hastily thrown together football operation and teams composed of NFL cast-offs, the quality of play was too terrible to sustain viewers’ initial curiosity.

“This Was the Xfl,” a documentary premiering Thursday night as part of Espn’s “30 for 30” series, argues that, despite »
