Some new items have recently popped up about the upcoming Toy Story 3, the long-awaited and highly anticipated third film in the already amazing Pixar series. We have the news that it will be released in IMAX, and we also have a trio of new high-res images.
Let’s start of the with the IMAX news: the IMAX corporation and Walt Disney Studios yesterday announced that Toy Story 3 will be released in IMAX 3D theaters simultaneously with its release in regular theaters on its set date of June 18th, 2010. However, the film wasn’t originally shot for IMAX, so in Star Trek style it will be digitally re-mastered for it. Here’s some quick words on the release from Distribution President of The Walt Disney Studios, Bob Chapek, and from IMAX CEO, Richard L. Gelfond:
“We’re very excited to once again unite Disney Digital 3D with The IMAX Experience, »

For this week's final Halloween movies list, I decided to turn hit up the real superstars: my co-workers here in the MTV Newsroom who keep this great ship moving every damn day. After the jump you'll find recommendations and reminiscences from around the office. If you're game for some heavy reading, make sure to check out the last write-up, detailing Joel Hanek's pick: "Ernest Scared Stupid." Oh yes, he went there.
As for myself (MTV Movies Blog editor Adam Rosenberg), it's a toss-up. To this day I still have occasional nightmares relating to "Candyman," the Bernard Rose-directed, Virginia Madsen-starring horror flick based on a tale by novelist Clive Barker. There's something uniquely terrifying about the Candyman's ability to attack at any time, day or night. When horror can touch you even in the relative safety of sunlight, that's something to fear.
The other one that still gets me, »

Pixar director Lee Unkrich revealed more details on Toy Story 3 on Monday via his Twitter page. Speaking directly to fans in a video announcement, Unkrich revealed voice casting details and exciting news about the re-release of the first two movies.
First, a few voice casting tidbits. Comedienne Kristen Schaal (”Flight of the Conchords”) is recording for an unknown character in the movie. Blake Clarke is taking over for the voice of Slinky Dog after the passing of his friend Jim Varney in 2000.
The rest of the voice cast will be returning including Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Joan Cusack (Jessie), and John Morris (Andy). Michael Keaton is voicing a Ken doll.
Also, if you haven’t had a chance to see the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 3-D double bill in theaters, you’ll have the opportunity for a bit longer. The four-hour experience made $22.8 million in 10 days. »

Oh them kids and their Twittering and what not. All these fads, I just can't keep up! One day we're reading the trades, the next it's the blogs and now all the news is coming from Twitter! Lee Unkrich, director of the forthcoming Toy Story 3, has Tweeted that due to the overwhelming success of the Toy Story Double Feature, the two movies are getting their cinematic run extended from the original two weeks. The films are now set to run throughout October. Nothing unexpected about that. I guess 3D actually is a big seller, or people will just pay to see Pixar movies no matter if they're new or old. In other news, Unkrich also revealed some casting news for the third flick about the lively little toys. Comedians Kristen Schaal (of HBO's Flight of the Conchords) and Blake Clark (Bedtime Stories, 50 First Dates) are joining the voice cast. »

I just received seven new character posters for Disney/Pixar's upcoming June 18, 2010 release Toy Story 3 as well as final details on the complete voice cast, which begins with Blake Clark taking over the voice of Slinky following the passing of Jim Varney who voiced the character in both Toy Story and Toy Story 2.
The rest of the voice cast is as follows: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger, Ned Beatty, Jodi Benson, Michael Keaton, Timothy Dalton, Whoopi Goldberg, Joan Cusack, John Morris, Laurie Metcalf, R. Lee Ermey, Jeff Garlin and Bonnie Hunt.
The casting announcement was made by director Lee Unkrich via the video included in this post. Now, for the posters.
There were seven character posters released so I just threw in the original teaser poster to make it an even eight. You can click on any of the posters below »

After the success the 3D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 has garnered over its originally planned two-week run, Pixar has announced that the showing will continue for at least another two weeks.
Given how well-received the first two Toy Story films were upon their original releases, and continue to be during their re-release run, it can be anticipated that the upcoming Toy Story 3 will be met with the same positive response. Along with keeping most of the characters we all know and love from the first and second Toy Story films, the cast of Toy Story 3 will be expanded to include some new characters and new voice talents.
In addition to Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their roles as Woody and Buzz, Toy Story 3 will also be making room in the cast for Kristen Schaal of Flight of the Conchords and Blake Clark of 50 First Dates. »

Those who were able to get out to the theaters over the past week to catch Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D got a glimpse of the brand new trailer for the third installment of the franchise Toy Story 3. The trailer is now online, and it may have just been worth the 11 year wait.
The film picks up years after 1999’s Toy Story 2. Andy has grown up, and is now heading off to college. He realizes he won’t be able to bring his beloved toys with him, so he’s forced to sell them to the highest bidder. It just so happens that the bidder is a local day care with unruly kids.
The toys decide to rebel and attempt an escape in what looks to be a great revisiting of the beloved characters. Though Jim Varney has passed way, everybody else is back for the ride this time, »

The full theatrical trailer for the highly anticipated Toy Story 3 hit last week to (mostly) high praise of its loveable familiarity and beautiful animation (when is that ever Not the case with Pixar?). Today we have some info on some fresh voices that have been added to the Toy Story 3 roster, as well as news that the current re-release of Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D is being expanded.
First up, the voice casting:
Toy Story 3 director, Lee Unkrich, let fans know via his Twitter account (a continually growing place to go for breaking entertainment news announcements - a la Screen Rant) and a video announcement that Flight of the Conchords comedienne, Kristen Schaal and Blake Clark (50 First Dates) will be joining Toy Story 3’s voice cast.
Although Unkrich was tight-lipped about which character Schaal will be voicing (I’m going to guessing some sort of quirky, perhaps »

Late yesterday, Disney sent out a release linking to a video message from "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich. There is apparently much reason to celebrate around the Pixar/Disney Animation studios these days, as the 3-D theatrical re-launch of "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in a double feature has been doing very well. So well in fact that the Mouse House has decided to extend the run, which was originally supposed to last for a brief two-week window.
This is great news. The first two "Toy Story" flicks are a lot of fun and all reports indicate that the 3-D upgrades are first rate. If you haven't seen them before, this is the best option for seeing them that's come along in quite some time. And if you have seen them... this is still the best way to watch them. Unkrich also had some news to share on the "Toy Story 3" front, »

Yesterday we had the trailer, last week we had some new posters and now the media-baiting circus for Toy Story 3 continues giving up the goods with the latest news that Flight Of The Conchords' Kristen Schaal and American comedian Blake Clark will be providing vocal duties as two members of the plastic-fantastic gang.
Speaking via Twitter, director Lee Unkrich announced that Schaal (aka scary super fan Mel from the much-loved TV show) will be voicing a new unspecified character in the film, while Clark will be taking over the role of Slinky The Dog from the late Jim Varney.
All very interesting stuff, but if casting news ain't your thing then you'll surely be interested by the lovely new posters for the long-awaited flick. We're all about pleasing everbody here at Screenrush!

As of late, Twitter is the place to be when it comes to cool announcements and fun tidbits in cinema. Today was no exception as Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich used his Twitter to make a video announcement about some news regarding the Toy Story series. First, because of the stellar performance of the 3-D re-release of the first two Toy Story films (watch the trailer), the limited two week engagement has been extended through the end of October. And second, comedians Kristen Schaal (of HBO's "Flight of the Conchords") and Blake Clark (Bedtime Stories, 50 First Dates) are joining the voice cast of Toy Story 3. Though Unkrich wasn't forthcoming about what character Kristen Schaal would be voicing, he did let us know that Blake Clark has replaced the late Jim Varney as the voice talent behind Woody's good friend Slinky (seen above courtesy of AICN). Blake Clark will voice for Slinky, taking over for Jim Varney, who passed away in 2000.

Following a leak over the weekend, the first full trailer of "Toy Story 3" has finally been officially released by Disney/Pixar. Bringing up the slogan "No Toy Gets Left Behind", the trailer teases a bit on the brutality the toy crew experience when they find themselves at a local day-care center.
The official trailer aside, a new Mr. Potato Head character poster has been outed by MSN, and director Lee Unkrich has taken it to his Twitter account to share several info on the third "Toy Story" movie. The filmmaker unraveled in a video announcement some of the new members of the voice cast ensemble.
Through the video, the film editor for the first two "Toy Story" movies said that Kristen Schaal joins the cast for a character whose name is undisclosed, Blake Clark will fill in the voice of Slinky Dog, given that the original voice actor Jim Varney has passed away, »

“Toy Story 3″ director Lee Unkrich decided to just be a ray of sunshine and good cheer today by revealing some new (and slightly used) pieces of news. First, Kristen Schaal of “Flight of the Conchords” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” will be playing a new character although Unkrich wouldn’t say who (which may mean the character isn’t in the new trailer although that’s just speculation). As for who will replace the late, great Jim Varney as the voice of Slinky, character actor and Varney’s friend Blake Clark will honor his friend by playing the role. Finally, and what I think is the most important piece of news, the “Toy Story 1 & 2 3D Double Feature” will extend its run in theaters. Unkrich says that’s good because that way more people can see the “Toy Story 3″ trailer in 3D but I say it’s »

It’s a new week and that means that it must be time for a new Toy Story 3 character poster. So far we’ve had Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Hamm and Rex. Today it’s Slinky’s turn to become the centre of attention and get his own poster.
The brand new trailer for Toy Story 3 should be out later on today and as soon as it’s hits, we’ll be posting it right here! Some of you will have been lucky enough to have seen the leaked version of the trailer on Saturday but we’ve held off to bring you it in full quality later on today.
Anyway, in the meantime, click the Slinky (originally voiced by Jim Varney) image above to enlarge. Toy Story 3 is out in the UK July 23rd.

A few days ago I posted character banners featuring Rex the Dinosaur and Hamm the Piggy Bank promoting Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3. Now there are two new posters showing the return of Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks), and Slinky Dog (Jim Varney).
The theatrical trailer has been playing the last two weekend’s in front of the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 3-D double bill and leaked onto the Internet already. I’d post it, but I’d rather not get a cease and desist letter from Disney. Besides, the trailer will be available officially tomorrow (Monday) morning and it’s worth the wait for a high-definition version.
Update: The trailer is here!

Some exciting stuff coming from the mouse at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Among the very cool things we’re particularly excited about are the panels concerning Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the reboot of Tron called Tron (at least for the moment). Also, Disney plans on having several guests to discuss these films, and the fact that they're all in 3D, including Robert Zemeckis, animation legends John Lasseter and Hayao Miyazaki, Tron reboot producers Sean Bailey and Steve Lisberger, veteran animation directors John Musker and Ron Clements and special guest director/auteur Tim Burton.
With all this, it looks to be a very interesting couple of days around the Disney booth and panels. Check out all the info from Disney’s official release:

When you think of Comic-Con in San Diego, you don’t immediately think of Walt Disney Studios making their presence known. But that’s exactly what they are doing this year. And when you think about it, two titles in particular will fit right in to the comic crazy crowds … Tron and Alice in Wonderland. Here’s the news release from Disney.
Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts Alice In Wonderland, Tron and Disney’S A Christmas Carol, and animated gems The Princess And The Frog, Beauty And The Beast, Ponyo and the Toy Story trilogy.
Zemeckis, Burton, Miyazaki and Lasseter will take part in industry panels. »
