December Movie Trailer Round Up

31 December 2010 4:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

This month has been one of the best that I can remember for trailers. All the studios were desperate for their trailer to get released before the Christmas holidays and we were inundated with posts. Since I love trailers so much, the inundation was most welcome. In what I am considering making a monthly post, here’s a roundup of all the trailers so far for December which I have embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

I’ve embedded them in the order in which they were released start December 1st to 31st and if I miss any, please let me know and I’ll update the post.

I really want this to be intereactive so make sure you tell us which trailers you liked the best and which you think will be great or terrible movies from what you’ve seen! So, let’s go!

Top 7 Coen Brothers Films

24 December 2010 8:59 AM, PST | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.

This week, The Coen Brothers (Joel and Ethan) will release their 15th film as writer/director/producers, True Grit.  It looks really promising and I hope to see it on Christmas Day. In its honor, I undertook the challenge of picking the Top 7 Coen Brothers movies and ranking them. Beware, if you haven’t seen the film below yet, there are some spoilers ahead.

Read Bayer’s Tsr of True Grit

7. No Country For Old Men (2007)

Recap: Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) comes upon a large sum of money (and some dead bodies) out in the middle of nowhere.  Unfortunately for him, a hit man (Javier Bardem) comes looking for the money and is more than willing to take down anyone who stands in his way.  Further complicating matters is Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), a lawman taxed with trying to make sense »

10 Best Coen Brothers Characters: The Dude, Barton Fink and Other Classic Roles

22 December 2010 5:00 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

You can expect many things when watching a movie made by Joel and Ethan Coen: unusual storylines, beautiful cinematography, witty dialogue, a strange fascination with hair and, above all, unique characters.

In their latest, "True Grit," opening today, the brothers Coen put their signature twist on the Charles Portis novel's lead characters, especially on the aging, one-eyed drunkard Marshall Rooster Cogburn (the role that garnered John Wayne his only Oscar win, and played by Jeff Bridges here). Truer to the novel than the 1969 movie version, the Coens' influence on Portis' characters shine through, as their distinct banter and colorful traits are hard to miss.

But this is just the latest in a long line of characters fashioned by the Coens in their careers. Who could forget the creepy private eye Loren Visser in their 1984 debut feature, "Blood Simple," or Nicolas Cage's memorable performance as small-town crook H. »

It's one small step for man in the teaser for Transformers: Dark of the Moon

11 December 2010 6:54 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Autobots will roll out once again for the third installment of Michael Bay's live-action Transformers series in July of 2011 with the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the first official 'announcement trailer' has been unveiled this week. In a move reminescent of the original movie's Mars-set teaser, the two and a half minute clip recreates the Apollo 11 moon landing as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stumble upon a crashed Cybertronian spaceship and ends with the awakening of a Transformer, who just happens to sport a very familiar looking beard (while I'm hoping for Unicron, Bay has already announced Shockwave as the film's main villain).

Transformers: Dark of the Moon sees the return of Shia Labeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Ramón Rodríguez, Kevin Dunn and Julie White, along with newcomers John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who of course replaces the »

So, when is a teaser trailer not a teaser trailer? When it's an Announcement Trailer. That's right fools, Michael Bay plays by his rules and he's not gonna call the first trailer for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" something sissy like a "teaser trailer." Sounds like the name of a backwoods brothel or something that only dorks and losers who've never felt up a girl in the backseat of a Camaro would think of. Houston, We Have A ‘Transformers 3′ Teaser Trailer

Oh look, an inspirational movie about the heroic astronauts of the Apollo 11 mission, whose boldness and courage took humanity to new heights of achievement and proved a watershed moment in… Psych! It’s the new “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” trailer, dawg!

Yep, that cinematic trickster Michael Bay has pulled a fast one on us with the announcement teaser for part three of his robo-carnage opus by showing inspirational scenes of Nasa’s great 1969 achievement that would make Ron Howard jealous, only to have Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin make a lunar discovery which Walter Cronkite & the rest of the world were not privy to.

It’s all there in the new trailer, which concludes with a fleeting glimpse of a new character, who many internet messageboard nerds at this time seem to think is Alpha Trion, an old-sage mechanoid who is something of a father-figure to Optimus Prime »

Okay, so I guess the cat is out of the bag — Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, besides boasting a very silly title, will reveal — drum roll, please — that the Transformers were alive and kicking on Earth way longer than we were led to believe in the first movie. Like, when we were going to the moon for the first time, according to the “Dark of the Moon” teaser. Please to watch it below. Starring Shia Labeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Frances McDormand, Alan Tudyk, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Frank Welker, James Avery, Peter Cullen, and directed by Michael Bay. First Teaser for ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’

8 December 2010 6:08 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Today we got the teaser poster, and now we have some footage to go along with it. What will surely be one of the biggest movies of next year, Transformers: Dark of the Moon (brought to you in post-converted 3D that is possibly not of the highest quality) has just received its first teaser from iTunes. Anyway, enough of my jabbering; give it a watch at the link or right below.

I guess my brief reaction is one that’s kind of positive, if a little reserved. The thing that most impressed me is the period design of the Nasa room, because even in those only brief moments that we see inside it did I feel like they worked hard to capture the look and feel of that place and time. Some of the finer points of this don’t exactly make sense; why would the astronauts figure right away »
