It’s a very satisfactory feeling to come across films these days that are concerned with not only being entertaining, but a lot of Fun. Films that are not only throwbacks to the exploitation films of the old days, but are also able to recapture that feeling of bloody and hilariously fun genre films (another one of recent times that I enjoyed immensely was Jen & Sylvia Soska’s Dead Hooker In A Trunk) are hard to come by, and when they do appear, it’s one hell of a good feeling. Bryan Bockbrader’s VANish is one of those films, a great entertaining time that pays homage to exploitation revenge films of the past, while standing on its own two feet and being a blood-soaked good time from start to finish.

What do you get when you mix part action flick, part horror flick, part thriller, and part buddy comedy/road trip movie? Probably something fairly close to VANish. After getting to enjoy Dark Sky Film's most recent release, “Starry Eyes”, for review, I was in no way going to turn down the chance to enjoy their next one.
So, the story set up is this: Jack (Austin Abke), and Max (Bryan Bockbrader, who also writes, and directs) are buddies that decide to kidnap Emma (Maiara Walsh), and hold her ransom, wanting five million bucks from her father (Danny Trejo). Along the way they get help from Afghanistan Vet Shane (Adam Guthrie). However, as the story progresses, we learn that not everyone on this little road trip from hell are who they say they are.
That's basically all I want to give away, as I really enjoyed the flick, »

Following the news last month that Ridiculous 6 will be the first project in Adam Sandler's four-movie Netflix deal from September, Lost star Jorge Garcia has joined the cast. Warner Bros., the studio that produced Adam Sandler's last comedy Blended, was previously in talks to distribute the Western comedy Ridiculous 6. The studio backed out after both Blended and Seth MacFarlane's Western A Million Ways to Die in the West underperformed at the box office.
Adam Sandler stars as a man who was raised as an orphan by an Indian tribe in Ridiculous 6, which is described as a spoof of The Magnificent Seven. Taylor Lautner, Luke Wilson, Rob Schneider and Terry Crews are playing the orphan's half-brothers. A motivational book written by a mystery author inspires a cross-section of different people to re-evaluate their lives.
When a film boasts as much screen talent as Collection does then it’s pretty hard to see how it could fail. The trouble is that having names such as Stallone, Trejo, Berenger, Aiello et al in your film doesn’t mean a thing unless you’ve got the material for them to go to work with, and Collection is a film that is in desperate need for something – anything – to justify having so many big name actors on board.
