Laurence Fishburne Makes John Wick 2 A Matrix Reunion

16 December 2015 9:40 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

John Wick 2 is currently shooting, and while the film has already assembled a pretty stellar cast in the form of Keanu Reeves, Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, Ian McShane, Common and Peter Stormare, we can now add one more name to that list. Marking a Matrix reunion of sorts, Laurence Fishburne has now boarded the sequel in an undisclosed role.

Gothamist spotted the actor on the film’s Brooklyn set recently, but given that his involvement hasn’t been announced by the studio just yet, we’re unsure of how large a role he’ll play. It could just be a cameo, but we’re hoping that it’s something more substantial. Either way, we’re definitely happy to see Fishburne taking a role in the movie.

Of course, Fishburne isn’t the only Matrix alum that’ll be working with Keanu here, as the film’s director, Chad Stahelski, »

'John Wick 2' First Look at Keanu Reeves On Set

23 November 2015 9:02 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

John Wick 2 is currently shooting. And today, we have the first photos of Keanu Reeves on set. He returns as the deadly assassin in this highly-anticipated sequel. And from the looks of things, the bad guys still aren't going to catch a break this second time around. These first images come from an eagle-eyed Twitter user, as production is carried out on location in and around New York City.

John Wick arrived in 2014, and wasn't a blockbuster hit. It only earned $43 million off a $20 million budget, with a worldwide take of $86 million. But the film was a massive success with genre fans and critics alike. And it has now spawned a multi-media franchise. As you can see in the photos, Keanu Reeves is back in top physical form as formally-retired professional killer John Wick. Also returning from the first movie this time around are Lance Reddick, Ian McShane and John Leguizamo, »

[Camerimage Review] Every Thing Will Be Fine

18 November 2015 9:38 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

A three-hankie weepie that harks back in its melodramatic rhythms and constantly moves forward (or so it at least thinks) with its use of digital 3D, Every Thing Will Be Fine, Wim Wenders‘ first narrative feature since Palermo Shooting, is always flirting with being a white elephant. It would only require, say, two more bad scenes — more bizarre choices with regard to the performances, more bits of dialogue that get to the heart of a character’s grief with the grace of a drunk lumberjack, or at least fewer pretty images — to teeter into chaos. And this is what ultimately makes the picture most worthwhile: even those moments that raise the eyebrows sky-high still have a weird integrity and determination skating under the surface.

Approximately half the things you need to know about this movie are contained in its first few minutes, where treacly music and wistful snowflakes — all dancing »

Ambi Pictures To Remake Christopher Nolan’s Memento

Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s Ambi Pictures will finance and produce a remake of Christopher Nolan’s iconic, twist-laden film Memento.

Writer/director Christopher Nolan adapted Memento from a short story by his brother Jonathan Nolan titled “Memento Mori”, and the unusual, neo-noir psychological thriller took audiences by storm upon release in 2000 and has since achieved cult hit status with a fervent following.

Starring Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Joe Pantoliano, Memento was lauded for its nonlinear narrative structure and motifs of memory, perception, grief, and self-deception. The film was a box office success and received numerous accolades, including Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.

Nolan’s original Memento follows Leonard (played by Guy Pearce) who is tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. The difficulty, however, of locating his wife’s killer is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, »

Manhattan, Season 2, Episode 5, “The World of Tomorrow

Written by Mark Lafferty

Directed by Daniel Stern

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on Wgn

How do you solve a problem like Frank Winter? If you’re Colonel Darrow, you make him your secret insurance policy for a bomb program run by a mercurial genius and an inexperienced wunderkind. If you’re the writers of Manhattan, you let him slink back onto the Hill, neatly tie up some plot threads, and yank the whole story forward six months as happens in “The World of Tomorrow,” which serves as an unofficial midseason finale.

The episode, directed by Daniel Stern, begins right where “Overlord” ended—Frank telling Charlie that the Germans don’t have a bomb—and then jumps ahead to New Year’s Eve 1944, using newly spiffed up reporter Woodrow Lorentzen as a device to explain how they got there. Using interviews to move »
