Leggy Texan Jerry Hall has landed a prized part in the new Merchant Ivory movie. Although the ex-wife of Mick Jagger , got a mixed critical reception when she took over from Kathleen Turner as Mrs. Robinson in a West End stage production of The Graduate the makers of Howards End (1992) want her for their new film. She says, "I can't believe they even considered me in the same rank as those great gals, " she said, refering to actresses, such as Dame Maggie Smith and Helena Bonham-Carter, who Merchant Ivory have worked with in the past. And the sexy blonde is looking forward to a role which doesn't demand a nude appearance like her current play. She adds, "It will be nice to be seen with all my clothes on for a change!" »

Harris Confirmed For Harry Potter

Actor Richard Harris has confirmed his role in new movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) after weeks of speculation. Harris will play Professor Dumbledore in the big screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's book. The actor has been linked with the part ever since casting began in the summer, but was reported to be asking for a little more than Warner Bros. was willing to pay. Harris completes a stellar cast that includes Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Ian Hart, John Cleese and Harry himself, newcomer Daniel Radcliffe. »

And the Small Time Crooks (2000) star says women over forty are much more respected in Europe. She says, "I was talking to Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange. They're kind of sustaining it and past their forties... In my country, in Europe I think they have more respect for age. You have Joan Plowright, Maggie Smith, Peggy Ashcroft and Helen Mirren all having terrific careers not worrying about getting older." »
