Paul Bettany 'tricked' into movie role

31 December 2011 12:00 AM, PST | Virgin Media - Movies | See recent Virgin Media - Movies news »

Stellan Skarsgard tricked Paul Bettany into appearing in 'Dogville'. The 40-year-old actor agreed to appear in Lard von Trier's movie after his friend told him being on set was like a constant party - only for Paul to have a ''hideous experience'' as it was nothing like his pal had claimed. Paul said: ''It was a hideous experience. I did it because Stellan f***ing Skarsgard fibbed to me. He said, 'You gotta turn up, it'll be fantastic, it's like a party all the time.' ''And after three weeks and not one bit of fun, I said, 'Stellan, »

If 2011 Were A Movie…

30 December 2011 4:22 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

In recent years we have seen Hollywood tap a variety of different resources in its ongoing search for new ideas. Stopping just short of sticking its hand down the side of the sofa and rummaging for loose inspiration, Tinseltown has instead chosen to adapt everything from the usual books, video games and television shows, to comic books, websites, theme park rides and – I still can’t quite believe it –  even board games. So, why not an entire year?

If 2011 were a movie, aside from reflecting such recent events as The Royal Wedding, the London riots, the Eurozone crisis and those pandas arriving at Edinburgh zoo, it would also have to reflect the trends and tendencies prevalent in the films it has seen released during its tenure. As such, it would most likely be a remake of a foreign language prequel, a motion-capture throwback and a steamy tale of friends with benefits, »

The Girl With the Rising Career

27 December 2011 11:43 PM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

Rooney Mara isn't just the girl with the dragon tattoo. She's the girl who reportedly beat out every A-list (and B- and C-list) actor in Hollywood who wanted the coveted role of punk computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, the female protagonist of Stieg Larsson's wildly popular novels and Swedish film adaptations. She's the girl who shaved her long, beautiful locks into a Mohawk; dyed it jet-black; got eyebrow, lip, and nipple piercings; and learned to ride a skateboard and a motorcycle. She's the girl nobody knew who put Jesse Eisenberg's Mark Zuckerberg in his place in "The Social Network." David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is engrossing and has many great actors (Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgård, Christopher Plummer), but it's Mara's film. She is brilliant, immersed in her character to the point that one wonders where Mara ends and Salander begins. Her performance is intense, brash, »

Marvel Set Game Of Thrones’ Alan Taylor To Direct Thor 2

27 December 2011 5:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The first of our superhero films from Marvel this year, Thor was an impressive box office and critical success when it came out in April this year, taking just shy of $450m. from its $150m. budget.

Pretty much ever since it found such success in cinemas, there’s been talk of a sequel, and it officially came out in the summer that the original’s director, Kenneth Branagh, was opting out of returning for the sequel, in what seemed to be a completely friendly parting.

Since then, there was first talk of Brian Kirk, best known for his work on Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, coming on board the project, but then in October, Patty Jenkins officially signed on for the director’s job instead.

Earlier this month, though, word came that Jenkins and Marvel had parted ways based on creative differences, and the search has been back on »

Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, MI4 – Ghost Protocol Tom Cruise/Brad Bird's Paramount-distributed Mission: Impossible IV – Ghost Protocol topped the North American box office this Christmas weekend, collecting $29.5 million — three million more than estimates released yesterday — according to revised studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Not to be left too far behind, 20th Century Fox also upped its estimates for Guy Ritchie/Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows by $2.5 million — to $20.26m. Ghost Protocol is expected to earn $46.21 million for the four-day weekend; A Game of Shadows $31.81m. Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Stellan Skarsgård Discuss The Avengers

26 December 2011 10:52 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

News surrounding Marvel's upcoming superhero movie The Avengers has been quite slow ever since the first trailer was released in October, leaving Marvel, and parent company Disney, to keep The Avengers in the public eye by recently announcing that the movie would be released in 3-D (something that was widely known since the start of production was announced in April). Writer-director Joss Whedon responded by publicly stating that the movie won't be "obnoxiously 3-D".

Finally, more from the movie's cast is being revealed, as individual Avengers actors do press for other movies they are appearing in. While discussing the American remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård (who ironically did not appear in the 2009 Swedish adaptation) discussed his return in The Avengers as Erik Selvig, the character he portrayed in Thor, in an interview with Moviefone. After his appearance in the post-credits scene in Thor, »

This is in fact the second time that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has indeed found its way to the big screen following the 2008 Swedish-language version, a »

New ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Movie Delivered Intense Drama,Action & More

New 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' movie delivered intense drama, action & more. Columbia Pictures released their new drama/thriller flick "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and I thought it was pretty good after it got off to a slow start. I must admit, I found myself dozing off at first, but man, did it really come alive after about the first 30-35 minutes into it. That Lisbeth character really rocked. The movie stars: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård, Steven Berkoff, Robin Wright, Yorick van Wageningen, and Joely Richardson. In the flick, publisher Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is hired by Henrik Vanger to wite the Vanger family history after being imprisoned for three months over a lost libel case, involving allegations about billionaire industrialist Hans-Erik Wennerström. As per studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo, Fincher's $90-million thriller starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig took in $13 million at 2,914 sites, averaging a so-so $4,461 per theater.
