Chad A. Verdi's Woodhaven Production Company Green Lights New Horror Project, Self-Storage

22 May 2012 12:33 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

When you think of horror production, you don't normally think Rhode Island, but that may change if Chad A. Verdi and his Woodhaven Production Company have anything to say about it. Verdi is proud to announce they have greenlit their third horror film, Self-Storage.

Woodhaven Production Company's first film, Inkubus, has recently expanded its VOD reach into 100 million homes with over 1 million buys and 100,000 DVDs sold. Success like that has motivated Verdi to continue with horror. "Inkubus is just the beginning for Woodhaven," Verdi said. "We’ll be following up with our second horror film, Infected, starring William Forsythe and Michael Madsen, who battle zombies to the death." Infected is currently in the final stages of post and is set for release on Halloween 2012.

Self-Storage is currently in pre-production with filming scheduled to begin in July in East Greenwich, Ri. Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie's, Inkubus) is attached to »

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

27 April 2012 4:15 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

At one point in the movie, a young Jonathan Silverman tells a very young Shannen Doherty to get lost by calling her a "little punk." She took it as a compliment, exclaiming, "You really think I'm Punk? I mean, it’s not as cool as New Wave, but a lot better than Pre-Teen!" it's a line said in such earnestness and without irony that it's embarrassing how much it encapsulates the movie: bubbly, desperate to be hip, and utterly clueless about the labels it speaks of.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun, despite its enduring popularity among the retro crowd that still talk about Saved by the Bell like it's still on the air, never give any indication that it could have ever been considered cool. Compared to other 80s dancing movies, it’s absolutely toothless. If Footloose is Punk and Flashdance is New Wave, then Girls Just Want to Have Fun is achingly Pre-Teen. »

Swinging with the Finkels, 2011.

Directed by Jonathan Newman.

Starring Martin Freeman, Mandy Moore, Melissa George,Jerry Stiller, Jonathan Silverman and Angus Deayton.

Synopsis:

A London couple take up swinging in an effort to save their failing marriage.

It is a big year for Martin Freeman. This could well be the defining year of his cinematic career. As a TV star he’s had the fortune to have had critically lauded, iconic roles in The Office, not to mention his role in the recent BBC series Sherlock. His film career has yet to hit similar heights. He’s starred in the fairly enjoyable big screen adaptation of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but aside from that there’s not been much of note. Certainly he’s got the potential to gain the sort of box office draw that Hugh Grant and Colin Firth have managed over the years. His role »

DVD Review: Inkubus

Inkubus

Stars: Robert Englund, Joey Fatone, William Forsythe, Tom DeNucci, Jonathan Silverman, Michelle Ray Smith, Dyan Kane | Written by Glenn Ciano, Carl V. Dupré | Directed by Glenn Ciano

A ghastly beheading calls Detective Caretti (Fatone) back to Woodhaven police station, where the skeleton crew find themselves in for a long and deadly night as the demon Inkubus (Englund) returns. With a murderous legacy dating back to the middle-ages, Inkubus is hell-bent on destroying the one man who almost captured him thirteen years ago, Detective Gil Diamante (Forsythe).

Seeing the name Robert Englund in the credits of any horror movie always peaks my attention, seeing the name Joey Fatone in the credits of Any film always is a complete turn off – so how would I cope with Inkubus, which not only features Joey Fatone in a lead role, but also stars Englund, the legendary WIlliam Forsythe And the man who partied with Bernie himself, »

Sarah Jessica Parker (l.) and Helen Hunt are proof that Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

A new article over at Fastcocreate reveals that Sorority Row and Piranha 3D writer Josh Stolberg is currently behind the camera for Crawlspace (formerly Hideaway), a new indie thriller aimed at VOD producer Vuguru. A small description reveals that the pic is "about a killer terrorizing a family living in his foreclosed house," a pretty obvious direction for a low budget slasher. Steve Weber (The Shining, Desperation) stars alongside Jonathan Silverman, Lori Loughlin, Nicole Moore and Sterling Beaumon all star. Take a peak inside for the first ever still featuring the invader sticking someone's head into a garbage disposal. That's pretty freaking cool. »
