The Closer and Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) may be gone but TNT certainly isn't done with the rest of the department and the Major Crimes spin-off. The cable channel renewed Major Crimes for a second season back in September.
Now, TNT has ordered four additional installments, bringing the new season total to 19 episodes. That's nearly twice the size of the show's first season which averaged 5.18 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
Season two of Major Crimes kicks off on June 10th. It's unclear however if TNT will air all of the episodes over the summer or if they'll break the season up into two parts.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to the second season of Major Crimes? Are you glad there will be even more episodes? Would you prefer that »

This week’s episode of The Following finds a bleeding madman, marinating in a cocktail of drugs, alcohol and his own deteriorating mental state, still getting the jump on the FBI. In the Bureau’s defense, it’s distracted by townsfolk who’ve chosen to deal with the threat of rampant killers in the same way they would an impending hurricane or catastrophic heat wave. But Joe’s banter, and two really big developments in the final moments of the episode, make all of the aforementioned silliness worth it. For now. Let’s review what happened in “The End Is Near. »

We start with a compare/contrast of Joe's (James 100%PureFoy) and Ryan's (Kevin Bacon) morning routines:
Joe jogs in the idyllic Northeast countryside before picking up the satellite phone to call and taunt a few old enemies.
Ryan wakes up from a cheap vodka bender to the sound of Joe's voice cooing insults in his ear.
Seriously? These guys are made for each other, Jack-Sprat-and-wife style. Can the rest of us go home?
Joe calls out Ryan on his drinking, and Ryan hangs up on him. (Atta girl!) Joe calls back, and tells Ryan that he needs to at least become a functioning alcoholic, because a flat-out drunk for a hero is just a tired cliche. Joe says he's going to win Claire's love back, reminding Ryan that love conquers all. Ryan says, "Now that's a tired cliche."
Speaking of, Claire (Natalie Zea, modeling this season's hottest hostage hood) and »

What is Casting Couch? Today, it’s welcoming TV’s Kyra Sedgwick back to the big screen. In recent years, Kyra Sedgwick has had a cushy gig going as the lead of TNT’s The Closer, but now that the series is coming to an end, it’s time for her to get back out there and score some gigs in the film world; and a report from Variety suggests that this is just what she’s doing. The latest feature that she’s signed up for comes from first-time feature director but long-time Terrence Malick collaborator Batan Silva, and it’s an indie sci-fi flick called Rays of Light. Word has it that Sedgwick will be playing the matriarch of a family who’s trying to survive in their estate house after the dying of the sun. Good lord, that’s got to be a metaphor for something. Now that Lenny Kravitz is out and Jesse L. Martin »

From 2005 to 2012, Kyra Sedgwick's film career took a backseat to the shooting schedule of her TNT crime drama series The Closer. But after seven seasons and scads of Emmy and Golden Globes nominations.as well as a few wins.the show drew to a close last summer. But don't cry for Kyra. She bounced back with the hit horror flick The Possession. Though critically scorned, the $14 million Dibbuk Box thriller scored at the box office, earning more than $76 mil worldwide. Then her next release, Kill Your Darlings drew wild praise at its Sundance premiere. With two more movies already in post (John Herzfeld's drama Reach Me, and Jay Alaimo's dramedy Chlorine), Sedgwick is lining up her next gig with a first-time filmmaker. Variety reports Sedgwick has signed on to star in Rays of Light, a sci-fi film from Batan Silva. A well-established first assistant director, Silva has »

I thought the Sam Raimi-produced Ole Bornedal-directed horror film The Possession was ok, but it wasn't as scary or good as the actual true story behind the cursed Dibbuk Box. That movie should have been a lot better, but whether you liked it or not, it looks like we are going to see a sequel.
The news comes from Bloody-Disgusting who says "they don’t even have a writer attached yet. To say we’re breaking this news early is an understatement. But rest assured, The Possession 2 is coming."
The first film is based on a true story but obviously the movie made a few things up along the way. The movie followed "Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. The Possession almost worked as a horror movie, but unintentional comedy completely got in its way. Still, we cannot help but be giddy about the following news and hope the powers that be get it right this time.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that a sequel to The Possession is indeed on its way, though as of yet there are no details available at press time. Given how much cash the original raked in, this news shouldn't come as a surprise, but in any event, there it is.
Synopsis
Based on true events, The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, »

Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick live like 'vagabonds'. The 'Following' actor and his actress spouse - who have two children together, Travis, 23, and Sosie, 20 - are so used to travelling for their respective careers, they have bags packed and ready to go at all times. He said: 'Even though we've got a real solid thing and we are homebodies, we're also vagabonds. We've had the suitcase packed our entire lives together and go from job to job to job, to this town and that town.' The movie begins by warning audiences that the film’s events take place over a 29-day period. What it should have said is the film feels like it lasts 29-days. The Possession is a stereotypical take on the tried-and-true “innocent girl gets her body hijacked by demons” story that doesn’t give the genre anything new, but a lot of the same. And even that’s not done all that well. Hit the jump for our review of The Possession on Blu-ray. In the film, young Emily (Natasha Calis), “Em” to her family, is coping with her parents’ divorce. Her father, Clyde (Jeffery Dean Morgan), is a workaholic college basketball coach who loves his family, but can’t seem to make time for them. Stephanie (Kyra Sedgwick), Em’s ever-protective mother, constantly worries over her children’s well-being. While staying with her father over a visitation weekend, Em discovers a »

Radcliffe and Stewart pose with Oscar winner Rick Carter Kristen Stewart and Daniel Radcliffe -- Bella S. and Harry P. have finally joined forces -- presented production designer Rick Carter with this year's Oscar for Best Art Direction for his work on Steven Spielberg's historical drama Lincoln. (Jim Erickson was the set decorator.) The film was vying for 12 Oscars, but ended up winning a mere two: besides Carter's the other statuette went to Best Actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Among the Lincoln losers were director Spielberg, producer Kathleen Kennedy, Best Supporting Actress nominee Sally Field, Best Supporting Actor nominee Tommy Lee Jones, and screenwriter Tony Kushner -- at one point a favorite to win the screenplay award. Zap2it: Why did you decide to do TV?
Kevin Bacon: Three or four years ago I reluctantly said I want to do a series. When I started out, that was where you went to die. It took me way longer to come to than my wife (Kyra Sedgwick). I read two or three scripts that were way better than movie scripts. That began a process. I was developing stuff for premium. »
