Toys Offer Another Look at The Lizard From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ Corroborate Action Setpiece Rumors

30 December 2011 1:00 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

The first vague look [1] we had at the Lizard in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man was via a fairly low-rent plastic rendering: a Pez dispenser. (Well, the first look those who weren't in Hall H when Sony debuted the character at Comic Con, anyway.) Concept art [2] followed on the heels of that reveal, and now we've got another toy to help shape our understanding of the character's look. This time, however, the toy boats an actual photo of the guy, albeit a low-quality one. In addition, another toy set seems to reveal an action setpiece in the film. As it turns out, this is one that we reported on a long time ago. I've used old art of the Lizard in the header to avoid spoiling things for those who don't want to see anything before a new trailer hits, so hit the jump for all the new details. »

The Amazing Spider-man Merchandise Reveals The Lizard & Story Spoilers

29 December 2011 11:48 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

With merchandise for Hollywood blockbusters needing to be designed and produced so many months ahead of the films they are marketing it’s no surprise that the big reveals regarding Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man are coming from our first looks at new toys. On the heels of the pez dispenser which revealed what the scaly head of the villainous creature The Lizard will look like in next summer’s movie comes a slightly bigger reveal of his shoulders thanks to Idle Hands and some kind of electronic remote controls.

The one for Spider-Man is above and the potentially spoilerish one (that’s if you were avoiding a reveal of the character before July) is below;

A newly available to pre-order Marvel Universe action figure also seems to reveal an encounter between The Lizard and Spider-Man will take place in the sewers. Though I guess we could have presumed that ourselves… »

High-Resolution Stills From ‘Frankenweenie,’ ‘Brave,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

24 December 2011 8:32 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Today we have some new images from major upcoming films. First up, we’ll tackle the smallest, with Tim Burton‘s feature-length adaptation of his black-and-white short Frankenweenie. We provided the first looks earlier this fall, but above we see another look at a boy and his dog. Former Burton collaborators Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice), Martin Landau (Ed Wood), andMartin Short (Mars Attacks) will lend their voices to Frankenweenie, which hits theaters October 5, 2012. Burton’s other big 2012 film, Dark Shadows, arrives in May.

Check out the image above and also, thanks to Stitch Kingdom, we have a new still from Pixar’s next feature Brave. The image comes from a scene we’ve seen in the trailer, for the film directed by Mark Andrews (who helmed the Pixar short One Man Band) and features Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), The Wise »

New Amazing Spider-Man Images

23 December 2011 5:50 PM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Let’s face it, that’s just ridiculously perfect casting. I am, of course, being purely superficial here and basing that opinion on these excellent new images of the actress in character. There are other images, too. I guess. Check them out if you have the time. If not? No worries. We’ll get it done another day. The rebooted plot finds nerd Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held … a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. Marc Webb’s reboot promises to tell the superhero’s “untold story”. We’ll see if he makes good on that when the film opens July 3, 2012 next year. Starring Andrew Garfield, »

Marc Webb Discusses Approach on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

19 December 2011 11:46 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I was among the many scratching their heads at the promise of an “untold story” in The Amazing Spider-Man, a movie that’s almost obligated to lay out a tale anyone over the age of seven knows. But, a plot synopsis from the movie’s official site hinted at something that, while not untold in the world of comics, hasn’t come out on screen thus far.

A recent interview conducted with Empire (via Cbm) sees Marc Webb reiterating that approach, all while expanding upon some of the themes and giving us peeks at the action. (Because he was going to publicly say, “No, we’re just kind of selling you the same thing again.”) The meatiest quote on the plot can be read below:

“It’s not a remake, we’re not making Sam’s movie again. It’s a different universe and a different story with different characters. »

Glossy New Batch of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Photos and Story Details

15 December 2011 12:30 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Although the only summer blockbuster that seems to be in focus right now is The Dark Knight Rises (with the trailer and prologue hitting select theaters today), there is another that is close behind in terms of my personal anticipation. Coming off (500) Days of Summer, director Marc Webb has leveled up to Sony’s big reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. The studio has launched a snazzy new site which has a batch of news photos as well as a few story details of the film starring Andrew Garfield.

First up is a synopsis, which is heavy on daddy issues. Sony is also really pushing the “untold story” aspect to differentiate from Sam Raimi‘s trilogy. Then we have character synopsis from our main players, with nothing terribly new except for Parker “unlocking the mystery.” Check it out below followed by the new photos.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” launches official Web site

By Sean O’Connell

Hollywoodnews.com: Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel, “The Dark Knight Rises,” has been boosting most of the headlines on movie sites lately as the director unveils the first seven minutes of his anticipated blockbuster on IMAX screens and drops that menacing poster, with Bane (Tom Hardy) walking away from our hero’s discarded mask. Awesome.

But Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man,” another anticipated superhero thriller coming out Summer 2012, is attempting to wrestle back some of the spotlight by stepping up its marketing campaign. This morning, Sony has revealed the film’s official Web site, and it’s loaded with engaging content. Click here to check it out.

Instead of teasing fans with a barebones site, Sony wisely stocked the “Amazing” location with a gallery or images (most of which you’ve seen, if you have been paying attention), character bios, cast and crew information, and details on the story, »

Awesome New Official Character Images, Wallpaper and Descriptions from The Amazing Spider-Man

While we were fast asleep last night, Sony was making some rather awesome changes to the official website for The Amazing Spider-Man updating it with brand new images and full character descriptions for all the main characters. We’ve seen so many Spider-Man films now that it’s becoming a little old hat but that doesn’t stop people clicking to see the new images of which there are many. I absolutely love the image of Garfiled (Spdier-Man) sitting down with the mask looking up at him. In fact, there isn’t an image here I don’t really like!

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, is directed by Marc Webb and hits UK cinemas 4th July.

New The Amazing Spider-man Photos & Official Story Synopsis

15 December 2011 1:22 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Sony are desperately trying to make the marketing for The Amazing Spider-Man seem relevant in a month simply dominated by The Dark Knight Rises at rival studio Warner Bros.

Just 24 hours before the internet likely explodes with chatter regarding The Dark Knight Rises trailer and prologue that will be in theatres tomorrow (and seriously… expect an upsurge in box office for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Sony have updated the official website of The Amazing Spider-Man with some new photos and also some character details and story synopsis.

Somewhat interestingly, Irrfan Khan’s character in the cast listing now says Dr. Ratha instead of Van Adder as previously announced….

Three Vibrant ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Banners Counter Dark Teaser; Trio of ‘Coriolanus’ Banners Honor Shakespeare

12 December 2011 10:31 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

To balance out the darker teaser poster revealed late last week, we have three new bright, vibrant banners for Marc Webb‘s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man. There is nothing particularly special here, just the same old Spidey we’ve already seen, but it is odd to see them counter their recent image so soon. I’m more partial to the previous poster, but as the marketing campaign is sure to kick up quite soon, it will be interesting to see if Sony will continue to have a bright/dark mix or if they will sway towards one side. Check them out below.
