Alexander Ludwig is ready to lighten up a little bit.
The young actor, who played the villainous Cato in "The Hunger Games," will laugh it up in the comedy sequel, "Grown Ups 2," according to Variety.
Ludwig will be playing the role of David Spade's son (we don't know why, but we find that very amusing). Just what kind of father-son relationship they have in the movie remains to be seen, but we have a feeling it might involve some tension and/or conflict.
Alexander Ludwig was fantastic in "The Hunger Games" as the imposing District 1 tribute who has it out for Katniss and Peeta from the start. As terrific as he was at oozing evil, he was also very impressive when he got to show his tortured, melancholy side during the final face-off.

Already slated to reprise their roles as childhood friends turned slapstick-prone parents are Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider. But to snag an even wider audience than before, this comedy.which will surely gun for the PG-13 rating its predecessor snagged.is adding plenty of young blood to make it irresistible to that coveted youth demographic. Already Happy Madison Productions has secured Project X's Thomas Mann and Wizards of Waverly Place's David Henrie, while Twilight star Taylor Lautnerhas entered talks for a "key 'fun' role." Now Variety reports Sandler is tapping into The Hunger Games market by bringing Alexander Ludwig, who portrayed the merciless kid-killer Cato, into the Grown Up 2 mix. Ludwig has signed on to »

The first film was totally destroyed by critics, with 90% of them trashing it; but that didn't stop it from raking in over $160 million in box office domestically, and over $270 million worldwide. So it's no surprise that Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison Productions are shooting a sequel to Grown Ups, which starred Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. And it looks like the entire starring cast returns, including Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek, who will reprise their roles from the first film, while Oliver Cooper, David Henrie, Shaquille O'Neal, and others have signed on to play new characters. The film has been confirmed for »

Betty White and her posse of old people pranksters are wrapping up their first season of NBC's "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" on Wednesday (May 23). And this time, they're pulling out all the stops -- including a ménage à trois, senior citizen style.
In the exclusive sneak-peek clip above, two sassy seniors ask an unsuspecting young fellow if he might be interested in a three-way.
"You have just absolutely made my day," he replies.
So there's still a chance? Check out the clip to find out if he's up for a "senior sandwich," and tune into the Season 1 finale at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Comedian Rob Schneider makes a special appearance this week, guest-starring as Betty's shrink, while her pranksters are busy trying to recruit a guy for a bromance, offering "free creepy back rubs" to strangers and trying a little too hard to prevent littering. »

Lorne Michaels once named Kristen Wiig among the best performers in Saturday Night Live history — and Wiig’s stable of quirky original characters certainly dominated the show for the last few years. From her first SNL episode as a featured player in 2005 to her last show this past Saturday, she played about 18 characters who appeared in three or more sketches — no small feat, especially considering Wiig’s equally huge roster of impressions. But which of these made-up ladies should join beloved creations like Wayne Campbell, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, and Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery (who might as well be fictional »

Since its debut 37 years ago, "Saturday Night Live" has done two things incredibly well: skewer the day's headlines with a twisted, acid perspective and serve as a launching pad for some of the biggest careers in movie comedy history.
And following her tearful final spin on Saturday night's season finale, it appears clear that the show's ace player, "Bridesmaids" star Kristen Wiig, will be the latest breakout player to make a permanent leap from the stage at Studio 8H to movie stardom. Wiig has already tasted success with an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay for "Bridesmaids," and she has at least half a dozen features in various stages of shooting and development. Broadcast’s dog-and-pony shows in New York City are finally over, but the walk-up to the fall 2012-2013 lineup has only just begun. Before we start wringing our hands over Britney Spears’ emotional readiness to be a reality show judge, we have some knee-jerk reactions to what we saw and heard this week:
Biggest trend: Comedy explosion. There’s 29 sitcoms hitting the air this fall — and we’re not including Rock Center With Brian Williams. That’s an enormous number of couches, awkward dates and workplace misunderstandings. Tuesdays will be a three-network comedy traffic jam, while ABC and NBC will offload extra chuckles into Fridays. »

What do Adam Rodriguez, Eva La Rue, Wilmer Valderrama, Marisol Nichols, Cheech Marin, Jorge Garcia and Nestor Carbonell all have in common? Well, aside from the fact that they’re all Latin — they all lost their jobs on TV this week.
Over the weekend, CBS announced that it was pulling the plug on the long-running drama "CSI: Miami,” which stars Puerto Rican actors Adam Rodriguez and Eva La Rue in the lead roles of Eric Delko and Natalia Boa Vista, respectively.
On Sunday, the network also canceled the freshman comedy “Rob,” which centered on an architect (Rob Schneider) who marries into a tight-knit Mexican family. The show featured several Latino actors in lead roles, including Cheech Marin, Diana Maria Riva, Lupe Ontiveros and Eugenio Derbez.
And CBS wasn't the only network to cancel Latino-friendly shows this week -- the three other major networks ended shows starring Latinos as well.

More than any year in recent memory, the survival of shows this season did not hinge on ratings.
You had Fox’s Fringe getting renewed for a final Gtfo season with only 4.2 million viewers and slight 1.6 average rating. Then you had Terra Nova getting axed with 10.8 million viewers and a 3.6 rating. The biggest mitigating factor was a show’s cost — which usually rises along with its age — along with the difficulty of a time period, who owns the program, how intensely critics and fans feel about the series and, believe it or not, whether a network’s executives like the show. »

Rob wanted to fit in with his new wife's family. Unfortunately, ¡Rob! didn't fit on CBS's 2012-13 schedule. The network has cancelled the sitcom after eight episodes.
The TV show follows Rob (Rob Schneider), a former life-long bachelor and landscape architect with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He marries into a close-knit Mexican-American family and attempts to be closer to them, intentions that often ending in disastrous results.
Debuting on January 12th, ¡Rob! drew a 4.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.47 million viewers. That was a positive start and, compared to the previous original episode of Rules of Engagement, the network was up by 52% in the demo and 41% in total viewership.
Over the course of the season, the ratings for ¡Rob! declined and the March 1st finale hit a new season low; a 2.6 in the demo with 8.99 million. »

For the first poor attempt at comedy that Happy Madison productions called Grown Ups (a poor man's version of The Big Chill), "Saturday Night Live" veteran Adam Sandler assembled all of his friends in comedy including Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider. Now two more collaborators from Sandler's past have come back for the wholly unnecessary sequel as Variety reports stand-up comedian Nick Swardson and Chero Oteri (another "SNL" alum) have landed supporting roles alongside Project X star Oliver Cooper and shirtless Twilight Saga star, the mannequin known as Taylor Lautner. No plot details have come to the surface about the sequel, so we don't really know why this ragtag team of comedy misfits reunites again, but Swardson will play Schiender's brother, who drives a school bus, sometimes with a decent amount of alcohol in his system. Meanwhile, Oteri is playing a middle school ex-girlfriend of Sandler's »

It's the end of 10 seasons of investigations, pun-filled taglines and best supporting sunglasses on "CSI: Miami" -- CBS has canceled the long-running series.
Star Eva Larue visited "Live with Kelly" last month to lament the fact that the show didn't get a proper send-off, if that was to be their series finale, after their episode order was cut to 19 to make room for Robert De Niro's rookie cop drama "NYC 22."
"It's not fair, we didn't get to tie it up right," Larue said. "After 10 seasons, we ended in a bar. That doesn't seem right."
But there you have it -- "CSI: Miami," ending in a bar. CBS sent out this quote with the official announcement:
“'CSI: Miami' leaves an amazing television legacy -– a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. »

CBS Cancels CSI: Miami and Unforgettable, Rob and NYC 22
CBS renewed a slew of shows a two months ago and also announced the pick-up of seven new series (and the likely cancellation of A Gifted Man earlier today, but now the high-rated network has officially canceled two shows.
CSI: Miami: This CSI spin-off has been on the air for 10 years, but its ratings are slipping. Its most recent season (which only consisted of 19 episodes) was pulling in about 8 million total viewers and a 1.7 rating in the key demo. For any other network that might seem like stellar ratings, but for CBS it tended to be on the low-side. In a statement, the network said “CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade.
