Award-winning filmmaker Steven C. Barber ("Return To Tarawa") has a new documentary making its debut this Memorial Day. "Until They Are Home" focuses on the search for the remains of U.S. Marines who were killed in the World War II Battle of Tarawa, and it features a major co-sign: Kelsey Grammer narrates.
The film is a sequel to "Return to Tarawa: The Leon Cooper Story," which was narrated by Ed Harris. That documentary centered on Cooper, who at 93 is one of the last remaining survivors of the battle. Tarawa was a fortified Japanese compound in the Pacific (currently part of the Republic of Kiribati). During "Return," Cooper and the film crew discovered that the island is still littered with live ammunition.
"Until They Are Home," naturally, focuses on what comes next. In 2010, the Joint Pow/Mia Accounting Command (Jpac) team went back to Tarawa to recover the remains of Marines and bring them home. »

He develops a relationship with Michelle (Alicia Witt of “Friday Night Lights”), a lonely and troubled woman who forces him to re-evaluate his freedom as he faces the demons from his past.

Air Collision, the best action film ever directed by a woman (for The Asylum), has a great ensemble cast and comes from a really innovative company; The Asylum, like Roger Corman’s various studios, is game to give a woman a chance to direct a genre film as well as to cast all ethnicities and both sexes for all kinds of roles. In short, I love The Asylum.
Director Liz Adams had one award-winning short film under her belt (Side Effect) when she went in for an interview at The Asylum. She was originally asked to write the fast-paced script for the then-unnamed action movie, but was offered the chance to submit herself as the director as well. “I threw my hat into the ring to direct and they gave me a shot,” she says. This is not unlike the shot given to filmmakers like Katt Shea by Corman; when »

Actor Peter Breck (right, in Shock Corridor), best known for his role as the short-tempered Nick Barkley in the 1960s television series The Big Valley, died Monday, Feb. 6, in Vancouver. Breck, who had been suffering from dementia, was 82. Though mostly a TV actor (Black Saddle, Maverick, The Fall Guy), Breck also appeared in about 20 movies. The most notable among those was probably Samuel Fuller's thriller Shock Corridor (1963), in which he plays a journalist who commits himself to a mental institution in order to solve a murder. Additionally, Breck was featured in Joe Camp's blockbuster Benji (1974), about a stray dog who rescues two kidnapped children. Breck's other features were minor fare. Those included Herbert L. Strock's The Crawling Hand (1963), about the hand of a dead astronaut that spends its time strangling the living, plus Highway 61 (1991), Decoy (1995), Lulu (1996), and Jiminy Glick in Lalawood (2004). Breck is the third The Big Valley »
