Chris Rock has joined the line-up of comedians taking part in Jerry Seinfeld's comedy fundraiser for the victims of the terrorist attacks on New York. The show has already attracted stars such as Bill Cosby, and is due to take place at Carnegie Hall on 8 October. It will be organizer and resident New Yorker Jerry Seinfeld's first headline show in three years. Speaking about the aims of the benefit, Seinfeld says, "We're not laughing at what happened. We're just laughing, which is how people survive." »

Paul McCartney is set to be joined by legendary bands The Who and Led Zeppelin for a New York benefit concert in aid of the victims of the recent terrorist attacks. The concert, being dubbed Live Aid 2, promises to be the greatest pop concert ever staged. Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Sting, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Santana, Neil Young, Jon Bon Jovi, Lenny Kravitz and Sheryl Crow are also set to appear. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and comedians Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock have been asked to host the event at the 20,000-seat Madison Square Garden. Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein is masterminding the three-hour show, which is expected to be broadcast live worldwide, on October 20. A worker on the project says, "This line-up could be as good as Live Aid and will raise millions. The proposed acts are the world's best, who will put on a great show." »

Chris Rock is hoping to win the role off an eccentric pop star in the $39 million musical comedy Big In Japan. Chris wants to play the leader of a one-hit wonder hip-hop group who are re-discovered in the Far East. Next Friday director Steve Carr is taking control of the movie. A worker on the project says of Rock, "He has been waiting for an opportunity to do something musical. Rather strangely, they also love him in Japan where the movie is set. Rap music is huge out there at the moment." This would not be Rock's first rap-based comedy. In 1993, he co-wrote and starred in CB4, a mock documentary about a rap group. »

Hannibal star Sir Anthony Hopkins is set to appear in a new horror spoof. The Oscar-winning actor will be in Black Sheep, which tells the story of a Criminal Intelligence Agency (CIA) veteran (Hopkins) who has to make a top agent out of a fool, played by Chris Rock. The film will be directed by New Yorker Joel Schumacher, who was responsible for the Batman movies. »

Paltrow, 28, sang in the film Duets and even reached No. 1 in the Australian pop charts singing with Huey Lewis. Paltrow's cover of the Kim Carnes hit Bette Davis Eyes recently entered the Australian charts at No 3. Onlookers applauded as Gwyneth took to the stage and sang alongside her friend, followed by Kid Rock, who was dressed as an Easter Bunny. Also in the audience were Gwyneth's parents Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner as well as actors Luke Wilson, Chris Rock, and Sex and the City star Kyle MacLachlan. »
