There's no need to worry that the show will be cancelled so, why track the ratings? Well, it's fun. It keeps us off the street. And most of all, it's a high water mark against which we can measure the success of other HBO TV series. Based on A Song of Ice and Fire, the best-selling George R.R. Martin book series, Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen, Kit Harington, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams. Game of Thrones: You'll Never Guess What Beric Looks Like Without His Eye Patch

21 August 2017 12:40 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

When you think of Game of Thrones, you don't really think of the actors spending hours upon hours in the makeup chair (well, besides the White Walkers and Wights). But the main players in George R.R. Martin's world actually change quite a bit for their roles on the HBO show. Kit Harington (Jon Snow) changes his accent, Rory McCann (The Hound) doesn't have that huge facial scar, and Dame Diana Rigg (Lady Olenna) was another woman entirely without that headpiece. RelatedGame of Thrones's Brienne of Tarth Is a Lot More Glamorous in Real Life While most of the characters do transform just through their outfits (massive fur coats, heavy armor, etc.), it's one character's tiny accessory that really brings his role to life. Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion) wears an eye patch in the series, and along with that accessory, his scruffy facial hair, and what looks like 100 pounds of clothing, »

Check Out Diana Rigg Aka Olena Tyrell from Game of Thrones Back in Her Day

18 August 2017 2:30 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Dianna Rigg, aka Olenna Tyrell, has recently bowed out of the famed TV show as her part has come to a close. But during her time on GoT she was absolute gold. As Olenna Tyrell she was a no-nonsense matriarch that did not suffer fools gladly and allowed her mind to be known on many things while others she kept close to the vest. There was never much chance to know just what Lady Olenna was really thinking unless she decided to reveal it on her own, and if she did then it was time to hunker down and wait

Orphan Black‘s chameleon-like star Tatiana Maslany had such a difficult time parting with the many clones she has played on the BBC America series that she, literally, got a nosebleed while saying goodbye to one of them.

‘Game of Thrones': Here’s Why It Matters That the Lannisters Are Stealing Everybody’s Food

6 August 2017 8:48 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

(Note: This post contains spoilers for “Game of Thrones” Season 7 through the Aug. 6 episode.) In Episode 3 of “Game of Thrones” Season 7, the Lannisters executed a masterful strategic move. While Queen Daenerys’ Unsullied attacked Casterly Rock, the Lannister family home, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) took his army and attacked Highgarden, the fortress controlled by the Tyrell family. Highgarden was captured, Tyrell matriarch Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg) was killed, and the Lannisters won a whole lot in the process — not just the defeat of one of their enemies and a key ally to Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), but the »

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Game of Thrones recap here.

Three outta four ain’t bad?

Before this season of Game of Thrones began, I predicted that the remaining Stark children would never be in the same place at the same time ever again. Because that would be too happy of a moment for a family plagued by heartache and supremely bad timing.

And while that still isn’t the case in this week’s episode, we do get Arya, Sansa and Bran together at Winterfell, a reunion that is as hard to watch (given how much »

The Performance | Has there ever been a more regal exit than the thrilling, immensely satisfying send-off Diana Rigg gave Lady Olenna in Sunday’s Game of Thrones? ‘Game of Thrones’: 6 Signs That Cersei Is Turning Into Her Brat Joffrey

2 August 2017 3:05 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) may have moved up in the world, but she seems to have regressed when it comes to her personality. In fact, day by day, she starts to resemble another spoiled and power-hungry despot that we’ve seen on “Game of Thrones” before: Her late son, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson).

This would explain so much, though. While her kids Myrcella and Tommen were kind of sweet (perhaps taking after Jaime, who is a fool for love and shows signs of a conscience), Joffrey was the bad egg, rotten to the core, and without any redeeming qualities. At the time, he had seemed like an anomaly, the twisted result of the DNA lottery that comes with inbreeding. But now that Cersei the Queen Mother has become the sole monarch, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of Westeros, she’s been exhibiting signs that make it clear »

Game of Thrones’ Conleth Hill weighs in on the Jon and Daenerys meeting

2 August 2017 12:47 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Conleth Hill, the actor behind Lord Varys in Game of Thrones, has spoken about the intense meeting between Jon and Daenerys.

This past week saw the two fan favourite characters finally meet as Jon made his way to Dragonstone, hoping to enlist the invading Daenerys to help him in his fight against the White Walkers.

Their initial meeting was tense to say the least, with neither willing to give the other what they desired.

One of the actors who was privy to the meeting was Conleth Hill who plays Varys. He told Variety that the meeting could have been much worse.

“They’re both headstrong kids,” Hill said. “They’ve been the leader of their own pack for so long, and there’s of course a history of bad blood between their families. But they managed not to kill each other.”

“It was ice and fire really,” Hill continued. “I »

The Truth Is Here: Game of Thrones's Lady Olenna Looks So Different in Real Life

1 August 2017 1:42 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Game of Thrones probably broke your heart again when Lady Olenna willingly swallowed poison on Sunday night. While death wasn't obviously her choice, she took control of how she left the crazy world that is Westoros after everyone she loved was brutally murdered (she also delivered one hell of a truth bomb before she went). Despite her age, Olenna was one of the strongest and most badass female characters on the show, which was obvious during her recent chat with Daenerys Targaryen. "I've known a great many clever men," she said. "I've outlived them all. You know why? I ignored them." While we'll sadly miss Olenna on the small screen, we still have the actress who plays her to obsess over: Dame Diana Rigg. The 79-year-old English actress has been around for decades, and she was (and still is) a total babe. While it's a bit jarring to see Diana »

Review: Game of Thrones – Season 7 – Episode 3

1 August 2017 1:29 PM, PDT | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

Is it too late to change my bet to Lannister?

Season 7 of Game of Thrones seems to be following a specific pattern. Each episode slowly moves the plot along, before a 10 minute explosive final scene. Last week, we saw Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) utterly annihilate Yara’s (Gemma Whelan) fleet. This week, we saw the Greyjoys utterly annihilate the Unsullied’s fleet, whilst Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) looked on powerlessly. And saw Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) take Highgarden, only to receive the last bitter admission of Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg). All this in the last 5 minutes.

But I’m getting ahead of myself a little. There was plenty more to appreciate here than the final scene of chaos. So we might as well start at the top.

In a moment that fans have wanted since the story began, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) finally meet. And its glorious. »

‘Game of Thrones’ Star on Jon, Daenerys Meeting: ‘They Managed Not to Kill Each Other’

This week’s “Game of Thrones” saw the long-awaited meeting between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, though the two leaders did not see eye-to-eye right away.

Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys on the megahit HBO series, told Variety that although the meeting was not all hugs and kisses, it could have been worse.

“They’re both headstrong kids,” Hill said. “They’ve been the leader of their own pack for so long, and there’s of course a history of bad blood between their families. But they managed not to kill each other.”

“It was ice and fire really,” he continued. “I think Tyrion’s temperature control helped a lot. I don’t think it went as badly as it could have. Had their characters met earlier, they might have pulled a knife or had a fight. I »
