Amanda Sthers Teams With Studiocanal for ‘Holy Lands’ Starring James Caan (Exclusive)

Amanda Sthers, an acclaimed novelist and playwright who last directed Harvey Keitel, Toni Collette and Rossy de Palma in “Madame,” is completing her third film, the English-language family drama “Holy Lands.” Studiocanal is repping in international markets.

For “Holy Lands,” Sthers assembled a cast headlined by James Caan, Tom Hollander, Rosanna Arquette, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Efrat Dor. Now in post, the movie shot mainly in Israel, including the holy sites in Jerusalem as well as the Dead Sea, and in Belgium.

Holy Lands” follows Harry Rosenmerck (Caan), a Jewish-American cardiologist who left everything behind to become a pig farmer in Israel, including his estranged son David (Meyers), a successful gay playwright, his daughter Annabelle (Dor), who’s still studying at age 30, and their mother (Arquette), his ex-wife who decides to revisit their love story after finding out she is terminally ill. Vikings renewed for sixth season by History

History has announced that it has given a 20-episode sixth season order to its hit historical drama series Vikings, which is slated to begin production in the fall.

“It has been my pleasure and my privilege to work with History and our partner MGM over five seasons and 69 episodes of Vikings,” said creator Michael Hirst. “Now we are ready to begin production of a 20 episode season six that will deliver a huge and unexpected revelation to our audience. ‘Vikings’ Renewed for Season 6 at History Ahead of Season 5 Premiere
Vikings” has been renewed for Season 6 at History before the show’s fifth season has even premiered, the network announced Tuesday.

History has ordered a 20 episode sixth season of the drama series, with production slated to begin this fall in Ireland. The first half of Season 5 will premiere on Nov. 29, with the second half airing in 2018. In addition, series regular Katheryn Winnick will make her directorial debut in Season 6, helming one episode.

The Season 5 cast includes series regulars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who joined this season as Bishop Heahmund, along with Winnick, Gustaf Skarsgård, Alexander Ludwig, Alex Høgh Andersen, Jordan Smith and Marco Ilso.

Michael Hirst created the series and also serves as its sole writer and executive producer.
