Tribeca TV Lineup 2017 Unveiled: ’Handmaid’s Tale,’ Albert Einstein’s ‘Genius,’ Ken Burns’ Vietnam War Doc and More

23 March 2017 11:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Cue the handmaids.

The Tribeca Film Festival announced its second annual Tribeca TV program on Thursday and it includes a range of world premieres, popular show returns and a slate of independent pilots. One of the most highly anticipated debuts will be Hulu’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Tribeca 2017 Lineup: New Fillms From Alex Gibney, Azazel Jacobs and Laurie Simmons Lead the Eclectic Mix

The series has been in the news lately, and not only because it will premiere soon. The dystopian story about a government forcing fertile women to become breeders for their high-ranking officials has struck a nerve among progressive women who are wary of having their health and reproductive rights controlled. Recently, protestors dressed in the handmaids’ red robes and white bonnets made an appearance in the Texas Senate gallery as its members were passing abortion legislation.

Alien: Covenant Clip Introduces New Android Walter

8 March 2017 3:24 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fox just won't stop with the Alien: Covenant teases. Now that the marketing train is moving on the next installment of the Alien franchise, it is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. The latest sneak peek at Ridley Scott's upcoming follow-up to Prometheus introduces us to Michael Fassbender's new android named Walter. It is short, cryptic and enough to raise some eyebrows.

20th Century Fox uploaded the clip recently and it teases that a longer video in which we will "meet Walter" will be released on Friday. This very brief clip, which appears to be a preview of that forthcoming video, gives us a little sense of Walter, mostly his voice. It is noticeably different from David, the android he played in Prometheus. It is said that he will be playing both roles in this upcoming movie, but given what happened to David we can assume that »

"Bittersweet season 2 spoiler," Harbour, 41, joked in the caption to the heartwarming photo of the fluffy Pomeranian. "Joyce has been recast for season2."

Stranger Things fans can rest assured that Harbour was just kidding, although many devotees would no doubt love to watch a spinoff series following the police chief solving paranormal crimes in Hawkins, Indiana, alongside his cuddly canine companion.

Spoiler alert: Joyce has been recast for season 2!

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, David Harbour announced the shocking news that Winona Ryder‘s Stranger Things character — Joyce Byers — has been recast for a fuzzier, louder and downright feistier character.

Before you go and throw yourself into the Upside Down in order to bring Ryder back, know that Harbour was just joking.

In an adorable photo, the 41-year-old actor, who plays police chief Jim Hopper in the acclaimed sci-fi Netflix series, posed with a precious Pomeranian pup alongside the caption, “Bittersweet season 2 spoiler. Joyce has been recast for season2.”

Stranger Things Season 2 Set Photo Teases New Character Mad Max

26 February 2017 5:47 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

When it comes to television, few shows dominated 2016 as much as Netflix’s Stranger Things did. Aside from just being very well made and executed, it introduced the world to a bunch of young actors who proved to be incredibly enjoyable to watch, and kept viewers hooked with some truly thrilling twists and turns that had everyone talking. It was a wild ride the whole way through, that’s for sure, but it did leave us with a ton of questions and unfortunately, we won’t be getting any answers for quite some time.

That’s because the show won’t return for season 2 until October, and with security being amped up to prevent plot leaks, those hoping to find out some of the secrets in advance might be left disappointed. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t get a few goodies along the way, and one such thing »

‘Stranger Things’ Star Paul Reiser Previews His Character: ‘Is He a Good Guy or a Bad Guy?’

Mysterious new faces are coming to “Stranger Things” Season 2, and it turns out, the nature of these characters may still be a mystery even to the people who play them. In particular, there’s little to no info on Paul Reiser’s character, Dr. Owens, who may or may not be based on Reiser’s character from the “Aliens” movie. “ told me who I was playing and they told me what they had in mind. It was sort of nebulous — is he a good guy or a bad guy?” Reiser recently told EW about Dr. Owens. “To be honest, »

Paul Reiser Comments on His Character in Stranger Things 2

15 February 2017 9:31 AM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

With Dr. Brenner's (played by the great Matthew Modine) fate unknown following the first season of Stranger Things, the Hawkins Laboratory has a big position that needs to be filled, and Paul Reiser's Dr. Owens intends to do just that in the second season of the Netflix series.

In a recent interview with EW, Reiser (Aliens, Red Oaks) discussed joining one of the most popular shows out there right now, and he also talked about the differences between Dr. Brenner and Dr. Owens:

"There’s a little more humanity. Modine’s character had very few lines so he was this looming, powerful presence. My guy is much more hands-on and sort of among his many degrees is that he has a bedside manner that Modine’s character did not have. I know coming into this what this community has gone through and my job is to try and walk them through their mistrust. »

Author: Josh Wilding

Stranger Things took the world by storm when it debuted on Netflix last year, so the news that it had been renewed for a second season was welcomed by fans of the sci-fi/horror.

While plot details are understandably being kept under wraps, we now know that it will premiere on October 31st, an appropriate date when you think back to just how terrifying so many parts of the first batch of episodes were. Accompanying that announcement is a brief teaser which kicks off with an Eggo Waffle commercial before things get seriously…strange.

The young cast of Stranger Things are all returning (including Eleven, who we get a glimpse of in the video below), and joining them are David Harbour and Winona Ryder. New additions include Paul Reiser, Sean Astin, and Linnea Berthelsen. The events of season two take place a year after season one, so »
