Ted Raimi, who starred as Joxer the Mighty in Xena: Warrior Princess, will make a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of Legend of the Seeker, once again playing the shady map-maker Sebastian, a role he originated last season.
In the episode, Sebastian will team up with Zedd's brother Thaddicus to sell a magical cure for the "Banelings" -- evil spirits who have returned from the underworld to kill.
No word on when the episode will air. Since leaving Xena, Raimi has worked steadily in films and on television, including in the directorial projects of many Xena alumni. »

On October 2nd, Brian Collins of Horror Movie A Day and the New Beverly Cinema hosted a rare Midnight screening of Wes Craven's 1989 cult classic Shocker . The film tells the story of convicted serial killer Horace Pinker (Mitch Pileggi), whom after being captured and sent to the electric chair returns to torment Jonathan Parker (Peter Burg), the teen responsible for his apprehension. Able to jump from body to body and even through electric currents, Pinker was poised to be the logical successor to Freddy Krueger, but alas... the character and movie didn't quite catch on. Regardless, 20 years later, Shocker unspooled for a nearly sold out midnight audience at the New Bev. In attendance for the event were actors Ted Raimi (Pac Man), Vincent Guastaferro (Pastori), »

There, the "Land of the Lost" actor confessed that he would be reprising his baddie's role for the next installment of the web-slinging superhero, as reported by Superhero Hype! scooper. Prolific character actor Ted Raimi recently took some time out of his busy schedule to provide Fangoria with this exclusive interview, in which he discusses everything from his childhood experiences to the recent release of Drag Me To Hell.
Be sure to check out the audio link below for the full, unedited 30 minute interview, and click here for our Gorezone feature, A Toast To Ted Rami.
Matt Molgaard (Fangoria): A large portion of your resume consists of work in the horror genre. What is it that draws you into horror?
Ted Raimi: What draws me into horror is the thin veil between what we think is safe and what really is not safe. I'm not really interested in vampires or werewolves, that doesn't scare me. Those things never scared me. What does scare me is, for example: if you have to make a down payment on a house, »

These days the one question that everybody seems to be asking me is, in their oh-so eloquent way, “what’s up with the new Raimi movie…any good?” Now that I’ve seen it, I am very happy to be able to report, yes…yes it is.
The reviews are already in for Drag Me To Hell and I think Michael Gingold (of Fangoria - read his take here) and Allan Dart (of Starlog - read his take here) sum it up very nicely. So if you’re interested in accurate analyses from writers that really seem to get the film and Raimi’s sensibilities, I wholeheartedly recommend you give those reviews a “gander”. Since I’m coming late to the party, I’m going to avoid giving my thoughts strictly about the film and instead take a brief look at Mr. Raimi, his style and his work.

After years and years away from the genre, the creator/director of The Evil Dead series is back! Sam Raimi took the stage on Friday, April 17th to preview his latest film Drag Me To Hell! Raimi surprisingly nervous brought on stage 2 of the stars of the his latest opus, Justin Long and Lorna Raver. (Fangoria's current cover girl!)
Raimi explained the basic premise of the film. Alison Lohman plays Christine, an eager to please bank teller who makes a choice to foreclose on Mrs. Ganush, a creepy looking gypsy type. What'd ya know? She's definitely a gypsy or witch of some sort, because now she's cursed Christine who will be tortured by the ghoulish old woman until the demons of hell come for her soul.
Raimi debuted a clip from the film that featured Lohman in bed with her boyfriend (played by Justin Long) and a fly hovering above the unconscious Christine. »

I just had the questionable pleasure of watching "The Midnight Meat Train" on DVD. The film is based on a short story by Clive Barker from a volume of his Books of Blood series. (Yes, I know this came out a bit ago.. blame Blockbuster for only having 3 perma-checked out copies)
The film centers around Leon, played by geekishly droolable Bradley Cooper. He's a photographer, searching for the "soul of the city" in his work, a task that according to Susan Hoff the art critic (Brooke Shields) he is failing at. In his search, he stumbles across what he believes to be a serial killer, murdering people on the subway train and disposing of their bodies. The "villain" of the piece is Mahogany, silently and ctiocly played by Vinnie Jones, who manages to give a menaching and creepy quality to a character who doesn't speak a single word. Also of »

You know Hellblazer #63, the issue where John Constantine turns forty? Yesterday was like that for me, only with cheesecake. And today was definitely like that scene at the end.
So, now that I'm more or less recovered from that, today's yesterday's list of quick items:
Ed Brubaker, Zoe Bell, Lucy Lawless, Doug Jones, and Ted Raimi. Angel of Death. Online. Free. Enjoy.
Dean Haspiel Dylan Horrocks, Hicksville Comics. I for one think Hicksville needs a decent comics shop, you either have to go to Fourth World out in Smithtown or all the way into the city ever since the Batcave closed in Babylo-- what? Online comics? Oh. Never mind. Update: It's Dylan, not Dean. Wrong monogram. Thanks, Iain.
