How Terminator 2 Spent 75 Cents To Create A Special Effect

20 May 2015 10:47 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Director James Cameron's 1991 super-sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day is widely regarded as legendary action film that ups the ante of its predecessor to monumental proportions in both story and spectacle. Sporting a then-unheard-of budget of over $100 million, it was a groundbreaking effects extravaganza. However, it seems that one of its more indelible audio effects - the T-1000 moving through an asylum door - came at a cost that couldn.t even buy a soda today: 75 cents! In a piece by Wired celebrating the history of the pioneering effects company Industrial Light & Magic, an interesting tidbit about a key scene in Terminator 2 surfaced. It turns out that the unforgettable scene where Robert Patrick.s T-1000 interrupts the main group.s institutional jailbreak of Sarah Connor by squeezing his liquid metal form through a barred door was supplemented by a seemingly futuristic smooth phasing sound effect. However, the audio was actually »

Terminator Genisys Character Posters Give Old Names to New Faces

10 May 2015 9:42 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Paramount has released a batch of Terminator Genisys character posters, and they provide a few interesting facts. First up, Byung-hun Lee’s character is definitely a T-1000, so presumably he has the same set of abilities as Robert Patrick’s character from T2. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character is still a T-800. And finally, Jason Clarke’s Terminator model has now been specified. Paramount decided to spoil the twist and reveal that John Connor is actually terminator, and this poster says that he’s a model “T-3000”. I assume the T-x is nowhere to be found because it wasn't a memorable character in any way. Check out the Terminator Genisys character posters below. The film opens in 3D on July 1st and also stars Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Matt Smith, Dayo Okeniyi, and Courtney B. Vance. Posters via Imp Awards. 'Terminator Genisys' Character Posters Introduce the T-3000

9 May 2015 2:10 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Spoiler alerts have become mute in regards to Terminator Genisys, as Paramount and Skydance have decided to reveal the movie's biggest secret in all of their posters and trailer. Today, we get a set of 5 character posters, the most interesting of which introduces Jason Clarke as the new T-3000 generation cyborg sent on a mission to kill Sarah Connor. How does Sarah's son become an unstoppable killing machine with a metal endoskeleton? That certain plot point has yet to be released.

Terminator Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, »

Robert Sheehan on saying the c-word in front of kids, wanting to try Shakespeare

17 April 2015 4:30 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Tourette syndrome has gotten the Hollywood spotlight from stars like Amy Poehler in “Deuce Bigalow,” Bill Murray in “What About Bob?” and Elle Fanning in “Phoebe in Wonderland.” Media representation of the tic disorder has ranged from irreverently comedic to sweetly tragic. The new movie “The Road Within,” which opens in theaters Friday, aims for a bit of both – funny but also sweet and touching and respectful of those who have Tourette’s. In the film, 27-year-old Irish actor Robert Sheehan (“Misfits,” “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”) plays Vincent, a teen dealing with Tourette syndrome following the death of his mother. He moves into a clinic, where he meets Marie (Zoe Kravitz), a girl with an eating disorder, and Alex (Dev Patel), a boy with obsessive-compulsive impulses. When the three teens steal their doctor’s car and escape the clinic, they embark on a road trip full of rebellious antics, »

Affliction Drama The Road Within Succumbs to Sentimental Uplift

14 April 2015 9:00 PM, PDT | Village Voice | See recent Village Voice news »

It sounds like the perfect setup for a legendary tasteless joke: A boy with Tourette's, an anorexic girl, and an obsessive-compulsive neat freak steal a car and head for the beach. Had writer-director Gren Wells shown just a tad more irreverence or daring or creativity, The Road Within could have provided a whopper of a punchline. But this is, of course, a movie about affliction, and it ultimately succumbs to the bland, sentimental uplift we've come to expect from such outings. After his mother dies, Vincent (Robert Sheehan) is installed at a mental institution by his cold, career-obsessed father (Robert Patrick, of Terminator 2 fame). The twitch- and temper-tantrum-prone Vincent quickly becomes the bane of his control-freak roommate Alex's (Dev Pa »

Familiar "X-Files" Characters Will Return

1 April 2015 7:57 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

It looks like David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aren't the only familiar faces from "The X-Files" that are coming back for the six-episode event series revival.

Appearing on David Letterman's show this week, Duchovny was asked if another other of the original cast will be back. The actor said: "There's Gillian and I, we're original. Mitch Pileggi (Skinner) will come back, and the Cigarette-Smoking Man - if that means anything to anyone - will be coming back."

That's not the only report today as TV Wise says Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick are slated to return as special agents Monica Reyes and John Doggett, but the site adds that no deals are in place yet.

Filming on "The X-Files" revival shoots this summer in Vancouver. »

Cigarette Smoking Man, FBI Assistant Director Skinner, And More Returning For 'The X-Files'

1 April 2015 7:05 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

There are two ways the new, six-part, limited series of "The X-Files" could go — Agents Mulder and Scully could find themselves on a new adventure with fresh faces, or be given a case that has them interacting with many of the familiar folks we've seen before. And it looks like it's the latter that's shaping up. Robert Patrick (Special Agent John Doggett), Annabeth Gish (Special Agent Monica Reyes), Mitch Pileggi (FBI Assistant Director Skinner), and William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man) are all expected to return to the series. But like most of the intel around the series right now, not much is known beyond this bit of news. It's not certain where, or how extensively, the characters will fit into the six-episode arc, and of course, plot details are under wraps. It'll be interesting to see what Fox does in regards to Cigarette Smoking Man, considering that smoking is »

'X-Files' Creator Talks New Series, Wants Everyone Back

Back in January, during the TCA Winter Tour, Fox teased that talks were under way to bring back the hit sci-fi series The X-Files for an Untitled X Files Reboot. The network confirmed last week that the show is indeed returning with a 6-episode event series. We know that original stars David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) are reprising their roles, but no other cast members are confirmed at this time. Series creator Chris Carter recently spoke with X-Files News, saying that he has plans to bring back the rest of the original cast, including Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), Annabeth Gish (Monica Reyes), and Robert Patrick (John Doggett).

"I have ideas for everyone. Their availability is subject to their regular paying jobs. Of course, I'd like to bring everyone possible back, but it's who's going to fit into the story and who's available."

Terminator Genisys motion poster: See Schwarzenegger become T-800

27 March 2015 2:14 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Arnold Schwarzenegger is transformed into the T-800 in a new motion poster for Terminator Genisys.

The latest Terminator movie uses a time travel storyline to alter events from the very first instalment of the blockbuster franchise.

When the menacing Skynet sends its T-1000 killing machine (Lee Byung-hun) to murder humanity's savior Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke) helps his soldier Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) travel back in time to save his mother's life.

Kyle and Sarah join forces with a Terminator T-800 (Schwarzenegger) for a showdown of epic proportions with Skynet.

Terminator Genisys also features former Doctor Who star Matt Smith and Academy Award winner Jk Simmons in supporting roles.

Just as Schwarzenegger is reviving his role as the T-800, this sequel has Lee Byung-hun replacing Robert Patrick as the merciless T-1000.

Terminator Genisys opens on July 3 in the Us and the UK.
