The very first photo from the Victoria, Australia set of Stuart Beattie's "I, Frankenstein" is now online, courtesy of photographer Pablo Hassan, who captured Aaron Eckhart in full makeup as the creature, Adam. Also starring Socratis Otto, Yvonne Strahovski and Miranda Otto, the film tells the modern-day tale of Dr. Frankenstein's creature, who nearly centuries after his "birth", has found himself in a gothic city, caught up in a war between two immortal clans. Though based on the comic by Kevin Grevioux, leading man Aaron Eckhart recently explained to ComingSoon.net that Mary Shelley's original novel is where he's focusing his attention to build the character. Check out your first look at Aaron Eckhart in full costume on the set of “I, Frankenstein”, an adaptation of the comic book by “Underworld” guy Kevin Grevioux. Stuart Beattie (“Tomorrow, When The War Began”) is directing with the film set for 2013. No real spoilers, so feel free to indulge, indulgers. The film, one of many Frankenstein movies in the works as we speak, looks like it’s well ahead of all the other studio versions, and should get into theaters first. I, Frankenstein has been filming for the past couple of nights in Melbourne. The movie stars Aaron Eckhart, who plays Frankenstein's creature, that for the film is named Adam Frankenstein. The movie revolves around demons wanting to capture Adam so that they can learn the secret of reanimating corpses. Back in January, we brought you a little tease from Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) on her role and romance in Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein. This modernization of Mary Shelley’s tale of Frankenstein and his monster from Lakeshore Entertainment/ Hopscotch Features/ Lionsgate is adapted from Underworld creator Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel.
Filming has already begun in Australia since the beginning of the year but we finally get our first look at star Aaron Eckhart as Adam, Frankenstein’s monster. Check it out below. Adam still looks like a scary son-of-a-b but doesn’t he have great hair? Adam has a bit of hobo-bad boy appeal, doesn’t he?

Lakeshore Entertainment's I, Frankenstein adaptation went into production in Melbourne, Australia, at the end of February and we finally have our first look at Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein's monster, Adam. Photographer Everhardt Strauss posted several photos from the set on his Flickr account.
Based on the Darkstorm Comics series created by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld), I, Frankenstein is being directed by Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night), who also wrote the screenplay. The movie is set in an ancient city populated by all manner of monsters, where Adam finds himself caught up in a war between immortal enemies.
The full cast list has yet to be released, but it is known that Bill Nighy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) plays one of the major villains, a character he described to BBC Radio 2 as a "nasty piece of work," an angel who "descended with Satan." Photographer Pablo Hassan has released the first image of Aaron Eckhart in full makeup as the creature, Adam, from I, Frankenstein, which you can check out below. The photo was taken on the Victoria, Australia set of the Stuart Beattie-helmed film. You can view more photos over at Pablo Hassan’s Flickr page.

Late last year we reported that I, Frankenstein was moving forward with Stuart Beattie directing and Aaron Eckhart playing Adam Frankenstein in a modern day spin on the classic story. Filming is currently taking place and we have your first look at Aaron Eckhart.

The first set photo of Aaron Eckhart in I, Frankentein has leaked online. The adaptation of the graphic novel has Eckhart playing "Adam Frankenstein", the classic monster of Mary Shelley's novel who now has a first name, lives in the present day, and is being hunted by demons that want to learn the secret of his creation in order to build an army of reanimated corpses. As you can see from the set photo, Adam has decided to go hobo-sheik and handsome-deformed. Sure, he's got a bit of a stitch-face, but that's no obstacle for the good looks of Aaron Eckhart. Based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux (fans of the Underworld movies will know him as Raze, the bad ass second in command of the werewolf clan), I, Frankenstein is a very take on the familiar tale of Frankenstein's monster. Written and directed by Stuart Beattie, the movie is set in modern day, and sees the creature, Adam, caught up in a war between two clans of immortals. Courtesy of photographer Pablo Hassan, pictures have surfaced giving us our first behind the scenes look at Aaron Eckhart as Adam, who I have to say looks quite impressive. Filming is currently taking place in Mellbourne, where, reported by The Herald Sun, the set was recently thrashed by hooligans. It is not known how this has affected production. This may appear to be a joke, but above and below are truly the first images from the set of Stuart Beattie's I, Frankenstein, which is currently lensing in Australia. The images feature some of the sets with nothing happening on them. Yay. The movie starring Aaron Eckhart and Miranda Otto began filming in the quiet suburb on Wednesday night. Yesterday the set was deserted, and locals were able to take a peek. Residents have been notified flying scenes, including trapeze stunts, are to be shot next Monday and Tuesday night. The impressively created cemetery includes angel statues, tombstones and a bridge. Graphic novel turned feature film I, Frankenstein will begin shooting in February, it was announced today.
Adapted for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow When the War Began, Pirates of the Caribbean), I, Frankenstein will be shot in Melbourne over a ten week period from Monday February 27.
The film was due to begin in January.
Key cast include Aaron Eckhart (The Dark knight, Thank You for Smoking), Bill Nighy (Underworld, Love Actually), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite, I love You Too) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
The film is expecting a late 2012 release as a collaboration between Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features. In Australia it will be released by Hopscotch/eOne. Local horror film I, Frankenstein is set to begin its 10-week shoot in Victoria next week.
The story, based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux which picks up where Mary Shelley's classic novel finishes, follows Dr. Frankenstein's creature (Aaron Eckhart) into a present day, gothic metropolis, where he is drawn into a power struggle between two immortal clans.
The film, which stars Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Bill Nighy (Underworld), Miranda Otto (South Solitary), Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), will begin production on February 27.
I, Frankenstein writer/director Stuart Beattie said in a statement: "Mary Shelley's story is about the creation of the first human being. I, Frankenstein is the story about that being becoming human."
The film is being produced by Us-based Lakeshore Entertainment and Australia's Hopscotch Features. The film is expected to be released in late-2012.
