When anyone starts a new relationship there is almost always some hesitation. Most people will ponder, for at least a few moments, “what am I getting myself into?” “Do I really know this person enough, even if I love them, to not get hurt in this?” And what if our deepest, darkest fears about another person turn out to true? What if we have gotten ourselves into a relationship with someone abusive, controlling, dangerous, maybe even…..a serial killer?

Women especially have such thoughts, I have known several women who have told me exactly that. And what if both people are women, and one of them is a serial killer? That is the set up for Women Who Kill »

‘We Go On’ Review #2 (Shudder Exclusive)

18 March 2017 12:37 PM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Stars: Clark Freeman, Annette O’ Toole, John Glover, David Bickford, Justin Carpenter, Jay Dunn, Edwin Garcia II, Laura Heisler, Terry Kaye, Logan Kishi, Peter Lucas | Written and Directed by Jesse Holland, Andy Mitton

Stricken by a paralysing fear of death and uncertainty about what lies beyond, sad-sack Miles (Clark Freeman) places an advert in the newspaper offering a $30,000 reward for anyone who can conclusively prove to him that there’s an afterlife. After receiving and dismissing hundreds of responses, Miles chooses three to follow up on. With his firebrand mother Charlotte (Annette O’Toole) as his sidekick, the duo set off to try and answer the big question once and for all.

Given the basic classified ad set-up, the mumblecore approach, vague ruminations on the meaning of it all and a central conflict between believers and sceptics, I was reminded strongly of Safety Not Guaranteed, though We Go On adds »

Annette O'Toole: Stephen King's It shouldn't be remade

25 February 2017 8:17 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

John Saavedra Feb 27, 2017

Annette O'Toole shares her thoughts regarding the remake of Stephen King's It.

Speaking to Sechrest Things, Annette O'Toole, who played the adult Beverly Marsh in the 1990 TV adaptation of Stephen King's It, shared her thoughts regarding the upcoming remake from Andres Muschietti (Mama) and New Line. Simply put, she doesn't think the movie should be remade.

"I don’t think they need to remake anything that was good the first time," said O'Toole.

Indeed, the movie is fondly remembered by many King fans, especially those who were lucky/unlucky enough to be children when the TV miniseries first aired in November of 1990 on ABC in the Us (arriving on VHS in the UK!). While the book was already one of King's most popular works in the late 80s, many fans will undoubtedly make the case that it wasn't until Tim Curry's (The Rocky Horror Picture Show »

‘We Go On’ Review (Shudder Exclusive)

Stars: Clark Freeman, Annette O’ Toole, John Glover, David Bickford, Justin Carpenter, Jay Dunn, Edwin Garcia II, Laura Heisler, Terry Kaye, Logan Kishi, Peter Lucas | Written and Directed by Jesse Holland, Andy Mitton

Phobia-ridden and driven by a sense of existential dread (and also, literally, his mother, in her car) a man places an ad in the newspaper: prove the existence of life after death, win thirty thousand dollars. Of the many replies he receives (including, apparently, many masturbators), Miles narrows the applicants down to just three – a scientist, a medium and an entrepreneur.

First and foremost, We Go On is a road movie; a mother and her son, seeking answers. Like a downbeat Mulder and Scully, the sceptic (or flat-out unbeliever) and the agnostic, scrabbling for hope in a world which often terrifies the latter. Such a concept would be nothing without a strong pair of leads, and this »
