Williams Puckers Up For Smoochie

6 October 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood funnyman Robin Williams is set to star in Death to Smoochie, a Warner Brothers comedy that will be directed by Danny DeVito. Williams will play Rainbow Randolph, a Barney-like costumed TV star fired for taking bribes and replaced by the clean-cut title character, a blue rhinoceros. Randolph then plots to kill his rhino rival, or actually the clean-cut guy under the fuzzy suit. DeVito will also star in the film. The project, scripted by Adam Resnick, has been a high-profile number since Jim Carrey seriously considered playing the title role before choosing the Frank Darabont project Bijou. Warner Brothers is keen on Edward Norton to fill the rhino suit - a possibility now that the actor became free after exiting the MGM film Hart's War (2001). Filming is set to begin in January. »

Willis's Top Ten List Of Co-Stars

3 October 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Bruce Willis has taken on the job of casting director following the shock departure of Edward Norton from his latest movie. Willis has drawn up a list of young actors he wants to work with on Hart's War (2001) following Norton's exit. Norton, 31, was to have starred in the MGM World War II drama as Tommy Hart an American who is shot down over Europe and ends up defending a fellow prisoner of war on a murder charge. But the highly-regarded star abruptly quit because of what the studio describes as "creative differences". Some reports linked the arrival of Willis on the flick with Norton's leaving - Willis allegedly asked for certain changes to be made before he signed on the dotted line. Hart's War (2001) was to have begun shooting in Prague, Czech Republic, in January, but the studio is now recasting the film based on the list submitted by Willis. »

Movie beauty Salma Hayek has stunned Hollywood by romping with a Saudi tycoon in the Mediterranean. Salma is supposedly in a serious relationship with Edward Norton - but he was nowhere to be seen as she and Al Sheik Modhassan cavorted in the sea. Salma, 32, spent three days in Sardinia with the billionaire on his $90 million yacht, and the pair were seen performing some intimate yoga moves. A friend says, "Ed isn't a playboy, he's a serious guy who believes in family. He's crazy for Salma." He'd better watch out because a friend of Modhassan's says, "He's no doubt hoping she'll fall under his spell. If I were Ed Norton I'd be very worried." »

Salma Hayek Needs A Strong Man Who Can Give Her Lots Of Sex

23 August 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Mexican actress Salma Hayek needs a man who is strong enough to handle her personality. The beauty currently dating Edward Norton, needs a man who can deal with her sexual demands and her dominating personality. She says, "I come from a strict Catholic upbringing and sex was a taboo subject. That makes you crave sex 10 times more for the rest of your life... I love strong men and I like to feel that there's a high level of sexual chemistry in a relationship... I'm a strong woman and that intimidates a lot of men who'd rather feel that they're the boss in a relationship, rather than in a partnership." »

Edward Norton: Honorary Jew?

12 April 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Edward Norton feels like he's Jewish - although the screen star doesn't practice any religion. Norton makes his directing debut with Keeping the Faith (2000), about a rabbi and a priest who are friends for life - and the Fight Club (1999) star attended so many Jewish functions during his youth, he feels like one. He explains, "I grew up an honorary Jew. If you go to more than ten barmitzvahs you get an honorary Jew certificate. I went to at least ten in one year. I was drunk on Manischevitz half of 1987!" And the actor also discovered a celebration of Jewish faith while making the movie. He says, "The synagogue where we shot, there was dancing and all these young people and it was so clearly a vibrant part of the community... It was impressive to me because in some sense we see ourselves as a secular society but it's still so much a part of many people's lives." »
