Ben Stiller met cyclist Lance Armstrong to discuss a potential Dodgeball sequel earlier this week, say reports. Armstrong cameoed in the 2004 comedy, but Stiller apparently wants the seven-times Tour de France winner to have a large role in a potential follow-up. According to Yahoo, the new film is likely to be "infused with cycling influences". It has also been suggested that Vince Vaughan and Chuck Norris, who appeared in the original, will be replaced by George (more)

Buried in a story about the Tour de France at Yahoo Sport is the suggestion that Ben Stiller is attempting to sign Lance Armstrong up for "a proposed sequel to Dodgeball".Armstrong has a cameo in the original, in which he lays a guilt trip on Vince Vaughn that persuades him to get back on the court.Armstrong was late signing in for yesterday's racing, and cheerfully blamed Stiller. Yahoo's story claims that Dodgeball 2 will bear a strong cycling influence; that George Hincaple will replace Vince Vaughn; and that Jens Voigt will take Chuck Norris' role. This is presumably cycling humour. Ho ho, eh readers?

Back in 1999 Twilight star Michael Welch who plays Mike Newton appeared on an episode of Walker Texas Ranger with none other than Chuck Norris. Fast forward ten years and hes starring in one of the years biggest films with one of Hollywoods hottest stars Robert Pattinson. In what is quite possibly one of the weirdest interviews ever Celebuzz asks the question that everyone is not really interested in hearing the answer to...whos better Robert Pattinson or Chuck Norris?Who smells better? Robert Pattinson...he smells like heaven.Who has a better beard? You gotta go Chuck Norris with the beard. Nothing beats that thing.Who looks better in tight jeans? That becomes a matter of taste at that point because you cant beat Walker in a tight pair of pants but Rob I guess I gotta go with Rob laughs.Whod win in a fight? I have to go

In the mid-eighties Ng See Yuen’s ‘Seasonal Films’ company decided it might be a good idea to try their hand at making films with more international appeal, initially inspired by the success of a certain Hollywood martial arts movie.
But unlike previous attempts at international productions by the likes of Golden Harvest and other studios, where the main goal was to introduce a home grown star to the west, Seasonal’s aim was to make movies with a combination of American actors in front of the camera, with a mostly Asian crew working behind the scenes, putting together the kind of action that Hong Kong does so well.
Their first attempt, ‘No Retreat, No Surrender‘ was released in 1986...A film which would eventually spawn two sequels.
“Tonight, he either fights for his life, or he’ll be running for the rest of it.”

Torture, the movie.
Alfredo Castro in "Tony Manero"
Photo: Koch Lorber Films
Chilean director Pablo Larrain's "Tony Manero" must be one of the worst-looking movies ever submitted for Oscar consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The picture is washed-out and blurry, contains some of the most dismal sex scenes outside of the Andy Warhol canon, and features a protagonist who's about as engaging as an abandoned luncheonette. Could this be ... art?
A lot of critics on the international festival circuit, where "Tony Manero" made the rounds last year, appear to have thought so. They discerned a political allegory, which is easy enough to do, I suppose, but raises the question: So what?
The story is set in Santiago in 1978, five years into the near-20-year military dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet — a brutal national ordeal in which thousands of people were murdered and tens of thousands were jailed and tortured.

Right now, as I type this Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is nearing one kagillion dollars at the worldwide box office, a total so large it has gone into made up numbers. At this point it’s fairly well documented that I wasn’t a fan of the sequel, so I won’t reiterate how there was no story and most of the critics got it right.
But Transformers got me thinking about how I used to take Soundwave in the tub with me and, while surrounded by bubbles, dive bomb the rubber ducky. Then, after I finished reminiscing about last weekend, I reflected further back to my childhood. Those were the good times before I had responsibilities and other things I procrastinate. However, now that 80’s adaptations are successful in theaters, Hollywood will milk that cash cow dry until we’re all sick of hearing about the toys we

Body Count: Volume 12 Some of my earliest horror movie memories are in the early 80's. I was a cartoon junkie like most kids my age and you know how it goes on any saturday morning. Or maybe you know how it used to go. Get up wicked early, pour a massive bowl of cereal and hunker down for a good five solid hours of cartoon programming. From 7am to noon you could find all manner of colorful adventure but like most communities, noon time rolled around and it was time for kids to go outside and play so the grown ups could catch the weekend edition of the news or candlepin bowling. At least that's how it was around these parts, except for one thing. Back in the early 80's, we still had a holdout saturday afternoon monster movie show. Ours was Wlvi's Creature Double Feature, a show so patently

Who better to help Michael Jackson "hulk" up for tour than the original Hulk himself? Lou Ferrigno's wife Carla has confirmed to People that the star of the 1970's TV hit The Incredible Hulk has been working as Michael Jackson's physical trainer in preparation for Jackson’s return to live performing in July. "Lou and Michael have known each other for a long time," says Carla. "Lou first trained Michael 15-years ago." Jackson's exact workout regimen remains secret, but Ferrigno, a two-time Mr. Universe, has added muscle to other celebrity clients such as Mickey Rourke and Chuck Norris.

It only figures that Paramount Pictures would continue their DVD re-releases of the original Friday the 13th flicks with that 2009 remake still generating so much discussion. After all, it's not like a Hollywood studio to overlook an opportunity to make some extra money. Still, I have to give them at least a little bit of credit. A lot of care was taken in producing those Deluxe Editions of Friday the 13th, part I, II and III. The transfers were, by-and-large, excellent, the sound was a definite improvement and a lot of creativity went into compiling all the special features. If a studio is going to double-dip, for fans this is how it should be done. While none of these films are what I'd call my personal favorites, they're all such silly guilty pleasures it's hard to work up much in the way of anger towards those who might feel different.

Hey, Paulington! Is a (somewhat) new Cinephile advice column that looks at life, love, and the movies. Anyone can send in a question, and Paulington will answer it. Sure, it's a really cryptic, cliched concept that has been around since the dawn of time. But we're going to spice it up a little bit. Topics can range from anything: Sex, violence, haints and taints, your favorite movie! Paulington doesn't care. He's basically doing it for a paycheck. He's not really an expert on anything. But he sure does know a lot about movies and human nature. You can send your questions to (as in, click on the giant red letters and you will automatically be sent to his email):
Hey, Paulington!
And he will be sure to answer all of them in a very timely manner. Here are this week's letters. Enjoy!

- Thanks to the golden opportunity of working with maestro Quentin Tarantino, after Travolta and Grier, he was unofficially the third person to benefit from a career re-boot. Known to a generation of new fans as "Bill" and most recently, as the elder Poon Dong, leader of the Chinese Triad in Crank: High Voltage, it was announced that Kung Fu legend David Carradine of the Carradine clan took away his life. He was 72. He'll have left us with us with tons of memorable midnight watch type of stuff with his roles as Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s television series Kung Fu, but Carradine was also seen in Martin Scorsese's Boxcar Bertha (1972), Bound for Glory (1976) and in Ingmar Bergman's The Serpent's Egg (1977). Here is a more complete bio from the NYTimes...: Carradine made his directorial debut on a handful of episodes of Kung Fu. Upon leaving the series,

As a means of generating consumer interest in a few older television series whose DVD sales are probably past their prime, CBS has released a sampler DVD of its more notable action-based entrees. The resulting DVD certainly entertains, but whether it actually succeeds in stirring up the appropriate “must have the entire season” sentiment that CBS hoped for is doubtful. Sure, blending episodes of Mission: Impossible, MacGyver, Walker, Texas Ranger and NCIS will make for an interesting mix – but as a mass consumer of television myself, the episodes chosen may not have been the best choices.
Each of the episodes chosen is the pilot of its respective series but, while interesting to see from a television history perspective, the pilots of a series aren’t always the best choice when you’re trying to snag an audience for DVD purchases.

After reading Chuck Norris' two columns against hate crimes legislation (1 2) -- the "Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act... could not only criminalize opinions (an unconstitutional act) but also provide elevated protection to pedophiles" -- and Media Matters' response, I think it's time for a new round of Chuck Norris jokes: Chuck Norris can crush facts with his bare opinions. Chuck Norris doesn't have to leap to conclusions. He just sits there and conclusions leap to him. Chuck Norris thinks homosexuality is a choice, but his oiled, bare chest isn't so sure. You think those jokes are lame? Me too. That's why Chuck Norris gave us comment sections......

(A.C. Lyles, below)

There’s an A.C. Lyles Building at the Paramount Pictures main lot, but you won’t find A.C. Lyles there; his office is on the fourth floor of the William S. Hart Building.
When I arrived for our interview, Mr. Lyles was chatting with some visitors in his outer office. He bid me into his main office, and asked his assistant Pam to put in a video… a short promo reel that opens with a six minute tribute by then-President Ronald Reagan, who warmly recalls his and Nancy’s many years of friendship with A.C. and his wife Martha, and congratulates A.C. on his fifty years at the studio. The President’s intro is followed by taped congratulations from President Carter, President Ford, and Vice President Bush, then assorted clips celebrating Mr.

Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none There have been many books written about the charismatic ‘King of Kung Fu’ Bruce Lee since his untimely death in 1973. None, however, have captured his passion for filmmaking quite like Bruce Lee: Legends of the Dragon by Steve Kerridge. This three volume pictorial history of the making of his third Hong Kong action film, Way of the Dragon, follows ‘The little Dragon’ through true timeline from April to August 1972 in Italy and Hong Kong. Each book is lavishly illustrated with several rare and unseen photos that have come from the Bruce Lee Estate archive and the personal collection of Bruce’s friends and colleagues. Many of those who were involved in the film, such as Bruce’s business partner Raymond Chow, actor and American Karate Champion Chuck Norris, leading Lady Nora Miao and production manager Chaplin Chang, share their stories.

Just when I finished complaining about Wolverine's organic claws in "X Men Origins: Wolverine", someone comes along and proves my point that spring loaded claws are both practical and totally cool! Martial-arts master Chuck Norris has his sights set on becoming more than a Texas Ranger - he has volunteered to run as the U.S. state's first president.
Norris, who played TV hardman Cordell Walker in hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, has put himself up for the job of running the region after discussing the possibility of the state seceding from U.S. control during a rant on CNN.com's political blog.
The actor, who is a staunch Republican, insists Texans want an independent state after being let down by the American government - and thinks he'd be the ideal candidate to lead the Lone Star state's revolution.
He says, "I may run for president of Texas. That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.
"Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America."

As a resident of Austin, Texas I generally take for granted the fact that I can get in my car and drive to the Alamo Drafthouse and buy things from Mondo Tees. It is one of the perks of living in the epicenter of geekdom. That's right, I said it. Epicenter of geekdom. Anyway, whether or not you live here in Central Texas is irrelevant, because I think we can all agree that you should be hitting up the Mondo website and checking out the new line of "Badass Cinema" shirts designed by Mark Todd. These spectacular shirts feature some of the most badass characters from movie history -- from "Death 'N Denim" Chuck Norris to "Bug Stomper" Ellen Ripley to Robocop. You might want to get them fast, as these things don't last forever. To see the entire line just head over to MondoTees.com

Written by Andre Dellamorte I love Jean-Claude Van Damme. I do. When I first saw Bloodsport, I thought that I’d be watching this guy for ages. But times change, and so has the industry. From that amazing film in 1989 to 1998, when Van Damme finished his run working with Hong Kong filmmakers for the big screen, people like John Woo, Ringo Lam and Tsui Hark. But then, the industry and action was changing; moving away from Hong Kong after a decade long dalliance. Van Damme was heading to video, and where Steven Seagal got another bite at the apple or two playing support to rappers, Van Damme trafficked in international films that – one after another – went Dtv. Van Damme was the most emotive of the action legion that tried to take up the Chuck Norris Mantle. His face was like a bruised and stupider version of Alain Delon’s, but

It’s been quiet on the Mondotees, Alamo Drafthouse poster front lately, most likely due to the recent SXSW festival which kept them busy and also because they’ve done a complete overhaul on their website. To celebrate this they are introducing a new print and T-shirt collection by illustrator Mark Todd where he draws cinema’s biggest bad asses. The print set comes with six, 8x12” illustrations, sporting Robocop, Rambo, Snake Plissken, Ripley, Chuck Norris and a character that has never been in any movie, which makes perfect sense. The set goes for 30 bucks and you can also get a T-shirt with your favorite action star as well that go for 28 bucks a pop.
The Alamo is also celebrating two of Mel Brooks’ best films, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein with a couple of very nice looking posters. Blazing Saddles was created by Bobby Dixon, is a 20” x 26” screenprint
