There’s more fun with food in the PG animated movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.
This time around, Lockwood discovers that he didn’t actually destroy his machine in the original film. Instead, his invention is now creating animal-food hybrids, “foodimals!” Lockwood and his friends have to embark on a new adventure to save the world again, but this time from hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheesepiders and other foodimals.
The $115 million-grossing sequel got high praise from critics, 71% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes. As Entertainment Weekly‘s Keith Staskiewicz wrote: “The animation is inventive and elastic, the dialogue zippy and shamelessly punny, and the tone lighthearted and fun, »

Flint Lockwood now works at The Live Corp Company for his idol Chester V. But he's forced to leave his post when he learns that his most infamous machine is still operational and is churning out menacing food-animal hybrids.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs took many by surprise. What everyone expected to be a half-baked pile of forgettable tosh turned out to be among the best computer animated movies ever made with its quick humour, well-written characters, gorgeous designs and an interesting story. So successful was the film in terms of critical and movie-goer praise that Sony decided to push forward a sequel, only this time there isn't a book to be based upon. »

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up immediately after the end of the first and we get to see the aftermath of the havoc caused by, Flint Lockwood’s turing water into food invention, the Fldsmdfr. The invention spiralling out of control has rendered Swallow Falls uninhabitable and the residents are temporarily relocated to San Franjose by famed super-inventor Chester V, whose Live Corp is responsible for the clean up of Swallow Falls. This is great for Flint as he idolises Chester V and jumps at the chance to work as an inventor for Live Corp as he looks to join the elite group of talented »
As Scott Porter, the man behind Bluebell’s Golden Boy, says with a laugh, “George might be in hiding when we return. The first episode of the season is actually the hunt for George Tucker, which is very funny to me.”

Foodimals. They’re the new minions and Sony Pictures should have a tasty hit on their hands with the exhilarating Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, which brings back nearly the entire cast of characters from the 2009 hit (except Bruce Campbell’s Mayor and Mr. T- whose character’s voice has been replaced with Terry Crews). While the first one was a spoof of Armageddeon, the sequel is a rollicking send-up of Jurassic Park which picks up where its predecessor left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood’s (Bill Hader) genius is finally being recognized as he’s invited by his idol Chester V (Will Forte) to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester’s right-hand-gal – and one of his greatest inventions – is Barb (a highly evolved lipstick-wearing orangutan with a human brain). It’s »

In an early scene from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, inventor protagonist Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) enters a factory full of lab-coated workers. Lockwood perks up instantly after consuming many cups of coffee handed out at stations around the lobby. As another character puts it, the constant stream of caffeine is “mocha motivation,” which helps to keep the inventors excitable and alert with fresh ideas.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is an animated sequel full of this coffee-drenched inspiration, although more linked with zany energy than originality. The film is always trying to overwhelm you with dazzling animation, sight gags and brisk action-packed moments, hoping it all sticks. However, this hyperactivity is noisy and frenetic, whereas moments of character and story depth barely percolate to the surface.

Andy Samberg and Terry Crews are no strangers to comedy, or to each other. The two paired up for the new TV cop comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and you can hear both of their voices in "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2." Unfortunately for Terry, he had to record his lines for the sequel, in which he replaces Mr. T, all alone, while according to Samberg, "Me and Bill [Hader] and Anna [Faris], we were hanging out all the time in the studio...Terry, good luck buddy!"
Despite the good-natured ribbing and recording time spent apart, Samberg and Crews told us they're eager to actually work together.
We look forward to their hip-hop remixes "Meatballs In a Box," "Expendables In a Hot Rod," and "Everybody Hates Chris SNL." After all, according to Samberg, the two will "Do anything together. Name it." And based on the interview, we can't wait to see what "anything" turns out to be. »

The Herculean task of any sequel is repeating the experience of the original film, or improving on it. That's nigh on impossible due to the simple fact that you only get to take the viewing public utterly by surprise once.
The out-of-nowhere novelty and delight of Sony Animation's "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," based on Judi and Ron Barrett's children's book, is missing in "Meatballs 2." The design and color palette is as glorious as ever. But the laughs are few and innovations fewer in this generally winded knock-off.
Inventor Flint Lockwood's cuisine-creating weather machine has come to the attention of his idol, corporate scientist and TV science show host Chester V (Will Forte), who worries that the island of Swallow Falls is too dangerous to live on -- for now. The gadget is producing food animals -- predators, "Taco-diles" and Cheese(burger) Spiders, Su-sheep and Shrimpanzees and Fla-mangoes. »
Andy Samberg and Terry Crews’ animated characters in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 couldn’t be more different. The brilliantly sardonic, not to mention rail-thin, Samberg goes against type as the dense, rotund ‘Baby’ Brent. Crews, on the other hand, co-stars as the hyper-masculine super cop Earl Devereaux. The militant character seems like a natural extension of Crews’ live action persona: a potent mixture of badass masculinity with an often-times-played-for-laughs vulnerability. However it’s Crews who is the newbie to the Cloudy franchise. While Samberg reprises his role from the first film, Crews takes over a part previously played by Mr. T. It’s an interesting duality: Samberg re-playing a character so far removed from himself and Crews stepping into a role seemingly tailor-made for him. In the following interview with Samberg & Crews, the twosome discuss the vocal performance process on Cloudy 2, whether or not Crews could take »

When we last saw our hero Flint Lockwood, in 2009's "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," he had successfully stopped his wonderful but terrifying invention, the Flint Lockwood Diatomic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator, from raining delicious foodstuffs down on the island of Swallow Falls.
In the sequel, which hits theaters this Friday, Flint (voiced by Bill Hader) and his friends are scooped up and moved to San Franjose, CA, to work at the giant Live Corp Company for Flint's hero, Chester V (Will Forte). Unfortunately, the Fldsmdfr is still hard at work back on Swallow Falls, cooking up food that is very much alive. So Flint and his pals head back to town to face the strangest and tastiest foes the world has ever seen, with encouragement and support from Chester V. and his sidekick, a talking orangutan named Barb (Kristen Schaal).
But before you go check out this potentially delicious food-filled flick, »

It might be too soon to call with any kind of authority, but we're going to go out on a limb and say that nothing will make us giggle harder this year than this moment from the trailer for Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2. It's so simple, it's solid-gold comedy.
The big-screen animated sequel -- hitting theatres this Friday -- reunites comic powerhouse trio Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, and Anna Faris, while welcoming a new castmember in Terry Crews (subbing here for Mr. T).
Our own Aimee Castle caught up with Faris herself at Comic-Con this past July to talk about her character Sam's return, the world of foodimals, how being a new mom has affected her choices and what's next for her. Hint: It's on your fall TV schedule.

Sigh. It looks like Winston’s still getting a quirky trait each episode instead of a proper, character-building arc, but we’ve aired our grievances about that before. At this point, the regularly sidelined loftmate has accumulated too many strange characteristics to keep count, so why not try tallying them all up?
May we present to you, PopWatchers, the “Winston Watch,” an ultimate (though probably not definitive) showcase of every version we’ve seen of our favorite fruity-drink-loving, darkness-fearing, pranks- »

It’s been a long, harrowing journey, but it’s almost close to starting. Blizzard has been developing World of Warcraft for a very long time, initially earning excitement for hiring Sam Raimi in 2009, but after the director dropped out last year, the news of Duncan Jones replacing him was bittersweet. He’s undoubtedly a great choice, yet after waiting so long for it to happen, it was natural to question whether the movie would actually happen. Well now it will. Or at least someone’s paying rent. Production Weekly has posted that Legendary Pictures has set up its offices for the film at Canadian Motion Picture Park (apparently Azeroth is in Vancouver) with an eye to start production January 13, 2014. So far, the plan to release it in 2015 is still on target. No word yet on whether Aubrey Plaza and Mr. T will star. In fact, there haven’t been any casting announcements yet, but »

Many young starlets of the '80s have gone on to become bigger stars in the following decades. Back when teased hair and shoulder pads ruled the tabloids, these budding celebrity friendships were just forming. Some would last entire careers. Others would be as brief as a shared table at an awards ceremony. But chances are it'd be hard to get some of these friendships back together, so let's enjoy the memories of these forgotten '80s friendships.

Ever been curious to see how many food puns you can take before losing all grasp on reality? Well, with six new posters debuting for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, you can finally test your limits of culinary wordplay. Peeking out from all the corners of the web, each poster features one of the film’s characters escaping from the clutches of a hungry food-imal (although it’s unclear whether a food-imal has the anatomy to actually consume a human being). Take a gander below to view the Hippotatomus, Tacodile Supreme, Double Bacon Cheespider, Watermelophant, Bananostrich, and a group of Pickles (whose name could seriously use a little punning up). Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 will see the gang from the first film return to Swallow Falls, only to find that Flint Lockwood’s (Bill Hader) food machine is still operational, and has transformed the town into an edible Lost World.
