New Post-Apocalyptic Featurettes for ‘Oblivion’ & ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2′

This year will bring to theaters two very different versions of wilderness. Later this month, we’ll see Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi thriller Oblivion, which takes place sixty years after the armies of Earth found themselves waging a war against alien invaders, who left the planet utterly destroyed. Then in the fall we’ll find out what happened in the aftermath of Sony Pictures’ 2009 animated adventure Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, as Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) returns in the sequel to the abandoned town of Swallow Falls and finds his machine – the Fldsmdfr – has been creating mutated, living animals made out of food.

Alright, alright, Terry Crews‘ unabashed excitement over the upcoming Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 isn’t entirely inexplicable – the former football star (and apparent renaissance man) is lending his voice to the new production, taking over the role of tough cop Earl Devereaux from Mr. T – but damn if the man is not excited about this new sequel. Fortunately, we are too. In the new film, Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) and gal pal Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) return after the disaster of Swallow Falls, with Flint now employed at The Live Corp Company, run by his idol Chester V (Will Forte) and his “highly evolved orangutan with a human brain” Barb (Kristen Schaal). There’s nothing like an advertising campaign that steps away from the normal spoilerific trailers. Back in the day we had Alfred Hitchcock walking us through the set of Psycho, and now we have Terry Crews discussing a journey to Swallow Falls in this trailer for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. In the movie, Terry Crews takes over vocal duties from Mr. T, as police officer Earl. This trailer however, introduces Mr Crews as a published author and fan of science, as he takes us through some footage concerning the strange animals we’ll encounter in the animated sequel. This includes a first look at the mythical Sassquash.

What.s the best way to get people.s minds off of the fact that Mr. T didn.t come back for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2? By reminding people that he was replaced by the badassery that is football player-turned-actor Terry Crews. The Expendables 2 actor does a great job of playing over-the-top without dipping into straight camp, and this promotional clip utilizes those talents to the fullest. But I never trust a man wearing a neck tie and a smoking jacket at the same time. It isn.t entirely clear why Sony Animation would choose to go this way with any pre-release ads, as barely anything new is shown, and it seems to serve only as a vehicle for and even more terrible food puns. In case you didn't know, Terry Crews is replacing Mr. T as the voice of Officer Earl Devereaux in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The first trailer gave us a taste of the sequel with returning voice cast members Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Benjamin Bratt, Andy Samberg and Neil Patrick Harris, along with a whole slew of food animals that have overrun the town of Swallow Falls. Now Sony Pictures Animation has released a cool featurette giving a brief recap of the first film, and also having Crews guide us through some of the finer points of the sequel, including the infamous Sasquash. Sony Pictures Animation has released a new featurette for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The plot revolves around Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) returning to Swallow Falls to clean up the mess created by the Fldsmdfr, only to find that food is now taking on the form of mutant beasts. In the featurette, Terry Crews, who has replaced Mr. T as the voice of Earl Devereaux, shows us some more of the strange pun-christened leftovers that inhabit Swallow Falls. I'm not sure if the puns will be carrying the whole marketing campaign, but they're working for now. Of course, everything works better when you add Terry Crews. On Tuesday night, Mr. T took part in a “Shoot the Puck” promotion during the Calgary Flames-Chicago Blackhawks game in the Windy City. As you’ll see in the video below, he managed to score a goal from center ice. Impressive! But even more so was him comparing organizers asking him to shoot the remaining pucks to Rocky Balboa asking him for a rematch in Rocky III. Enjoy!

2009's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs took a beloved children's book about a town where food literally fell from the sky and adapted it into a movie about a small town inventor named Flint (voiced by SNL's Bill Hader) who creates a machine capable of turning water into food. “Pun-fet” was a bit too far to go, even for me. You’re welcome. You’re also welcome for this Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 trailer that is overflowing with food and animal jokes. Phil Lord and Chris Miller aren’t involved with the sequel, but this footage is fit for their pun dog. Fortunately, the voice cast of the original is back. Bill Hader returns as Flint Lockwood, who has to return to his old stomping grounds after discovering that his food-creating device has been spawning some deliciously bizarre new species. This Fall the world gets a second serving, with the upcoming "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" headed to theaters. Most of the first film's cast returns, including Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, James Caan, and Neil Patrick Harris. Terry Crews is in to replace Mr. T, who won't be reprising his role as Officer Earl Devereaux.
In the movie, the characters from the first outing return to the island they left, after destroying the machine that turns water into food. They discover that the machine is still operating, and is now creating food-animal hybrids. They venture through the island, determined to shut it down once and for all, before the living food can reach the civilized world.
The trailer sheds light on a bunch of fun hybrids in the movie, including Tacodile Supreme, Mosquitoast, and Shrimpanzees.

Well, earlier we brought you the first poster, now you can see all your favourite characters back in action. Having left their home due to the events in Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, a group of citizens returns to find it overrun by animal/food hybrids, including the Tacodile. The trailer gave me three of the biggest laughs I’ve had in ages, thanks to some excellent puns such as there being a leek in the boat, and noting that something will be a piece of cake. Yes, this is going to be very punny indeed, and who doesn’t love a good food pun? The original voices return, apart from Mr. T, who has been replaced with the much funnier Terry Crews.
