The year 1990 was the beginning of a new decade that just had survived the neon excesses of the ’80s. Exclusive: Why ‘Actress’ Doesn’t Ring True for ‘Billions’ Breakout Star Asia Kate Dillon

14 June 2017 12:22 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Change can be as simple as walking through an unmarked door, or, in Asia Kate Dillon’s case, writing a letter to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences about the gender requirements for submitting nominees to the Primetime Emmys’ acting categories. Turns out, there are none. “The rules have always stated said any performer can enter either category for any reason,” says Dillon, who identifies as nonbinary, just like their season two breakout character, Taylor, from the Showtime series Billions.

The definition of the word ‘actor’ has a long history that does not include the gender of the performer, which Dillon wrote about in their initial inquiry to the Emmys. The words ‘they/them’ have a long history, too, of being used as a gender-neutral pronoun, and as more people come out about not fitting into the simple categories of men and women, use of the pronoun -- preferred by Dillon -- has increased by individuals who identify »

The cast and creative behind cult favorite Northern Exposure reunited Friday at the Atx Television Festival in Austin, Texas, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the former CBS series' premiere.

Why Bruce Beresford had his Us visa waiver cancelled

4 June 2017 4:51 PM, PDT | IF.com.au | See recent IF.com.au news »

Bruce Beresford..

Bruce Beresford has worked on Us movies and TV shows for decades, so he was ill-prepared when Us authorities cancelled his visa waiver.

The director told If he and his wife Virginia Duigan were halted at the Us-Canadian border at the Great Lakes last month and refused entry.

Their .crime.? Beresford and Duigan had visited the Fajr Film Festival and Market in Tehran in 2014, where the director served on the jury.

When he applied last December for the Esta (Electronic System Travel Authorisation), which enables Aussies to visit the Us without a visa for up to 90 days, he did not note that he had been to Iran because he did not realise the country was on the banned list imposed by President Trump.

When he asked a border official what would have happened if he had declared the visit to Iran, he was told the Esta would have been refused. »

Emmy Contenders 2017: Guest Actor in a Drama

1 June 2017 10:45 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Look for returning characters to dominate the category, with last year’s winner Hank Azaria likely to repeat his nom for his role as disgraced FBI Agent Ed Cochran in “Ray Donovan.” Beau Bridges should land his third consecutive nod for “Masters of Sex.” Mark Margolis was last nominated for playing Hector Salamanca on “Breaking Bad” in 2012, and that was with a minimum of dialogue, so he has a good shot for bringing a younger but no less terrifying Hector to “Better Call Saul.” Ben Mendelsohn previously won in the supporting category for “Bloodline” but this year he’s eligible as a guest star. year. And both Dylan Baker and Matthew Perry could earn nods for bringing their characters from “The Good Wife” to its spinoff “The Good Fight.”

The freshman series “This Is Us” could be a powerhouse, with turns from Denis O’Hare, Brian Tyree Henry, Jermel Nakia and Gerald McRaney. But »

Are Designated Survivor's Press Briefings Wackier Than Sean Spicer's?

22 March 2017 8:00 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

When watching this week’s Designated Survivor, as Seth Wright once again braced to face the White House press corp, I couldn’t help but channel Bill Murray a la Tootsie:

The Fosters Season 4 Episode 16 Review: The Long Haul

14 March 2017 8:48 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Mazel Tov to the happy couple!

The Fosters is known for bringing on the drama at a break-neck pace. That's why when they choose to slow things down and give us a drama-lite installment, you cherish it for everything that it is.

There were so man feel-good feels on The Fosters Season 4 Episode 16. There were adorable couples and precious moments to be treasured throughout the entire hour.

I love the moms so much. My heart is bursting, and my eyes are teary.

Every time we're graced with the presence of legendary Annie Potts, it's bound  to be an absolute delight. Sharon is such a fun, lovable, eccentric character.

She's the epitome of the "fun grandma," and she always comes with pearls of wisdom, heaping doses of wackiness, and a whole lot of love.

This time, she came with her beau, Will, played by the equally as lovable Rob Morrow. Of course, »
