The Original Cast Return for T2: Trainspotting

25 July 2016 2:15 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

The original "Trainspotters" are back for more in T2: Trainspotting!  You can see how they've aged in the new teaser for the film!

A much older Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, and Ewen Bremner are back to reprise their roles in the sequel for the 20 year old classic, Trainspotting, with T2: Trainspotting.  Even Danny Boyle has returned to conduct the feature!

Since this is just a teaser, there aren't a lot of details as far as the plot is concerned.  However, there is a lot of hope that the movie will follow the same path, author, Irvine Welsh laid out for the cast of misfits.  He originally wrote Trainspotting followed by Porno.  In Porno, the guys cross paths again but instead of through drugs its through pornography.  Although, in that novel, it had only been a 10 year gap.

We'll just have to wait and see when »

‘T2: Trainspotting’: Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie Return in First Teaser

25 July 2016 11:47 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Twenty years after the original “Trainspotting” premiered, director Danny Boyle has reassembled the original cast for a sequel, “T2: Trainspotting.”

The first teaser, which dropped Monday morning, shows Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie standing on a platform as a train passes by with Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” playing in the background. “T2” takes place nine years after the original.

Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle reprise their roles from the 1996 British drama. The original, which was nominated for an Academy Award and won a BAFTA, follows Renton, who is deeply immersed in the Edinburgh drug scene, as he tries to clean up and get out, despite the allure of the drugs and influence of friends.

John Hodge, writer of the original screenplay, also returned to pen the sequel alongside Boyle.

The film is loosely based on author Irvine Welsh’s own sequel to “Trainspotting, »

Trainspotting 2 teaser trailer marks the return of Ewan McGregor and the original castTrainspotting 2 teaser trailer marks the return of Ewan McGregor and the original castAdriana Floridia7/25/2016 12:13:00 Pm

Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Jonny Lee Miller and Ewen Bremner are back, twenty years later.

Trainspotting was a star-making film for everyone involved, and it essentially launched the career of iconic filmmaker Danny Boyle. Lucky for us, in 2017 the boys are back. We don't have many details on the plot of Trainspotting 2, and the teaser really is just that, as it simply teases the comeback for these four memorable characters.

The first film was a hilarious and dark portrait of the Edinburgh drug scene, and Renton (McGregor) trying to get clean while his friends continued to be bad influences and drugs continued to be tempting. We don't know what state these characters will be in this time around, but we can't »

T2: Trainspotting 2 Trailer Brings the Old Gang Back Together

25 July 2016 9:20 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

One of the several movies celebrating a historic anniversary this year is Trainspotting, director Danny Boyle's breakout hit which was released almost exactly 20 years ago. After years of rumors and speculation, the long-awaited sequel Trainspotting 2 started production this year, with Sony Pictures setting a February 10, 2017 release date. Although we got the first trailer in May when production started, today we have a new teaser trailer, which gives us our first look at the four main stars, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle.

We only get a quick glance at Ewan McGregor as Renton, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Johnny Lee Miller as Sick Boy and Robert Carlyle as Begbie. Though not confirmed in this teaser, Kelly MacDonald is also reprising her role as Diane. Kevin McKidd is the only cast member from Trainspotting who won't be back in front of the camera, since his character, Tommy, »

Danny Boyle’s Lowlifes Return As First Trainspotting 2 Teaser Pulls In

25 July 2016 9:09 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Twenty years on from their drug-induced spiral into self-destruction, Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) stage a reunion in the very first teaser for Danny Boyle’s dramedy sequel, Trainspotting 2.

Bearing the official title T2 – and absolutely zero connection to James Cameron’s Judgement Day – the snippet below comes to us via The Guardian, and acts as a nice callback to Boyle’s cult original where four twentysomethings navigated the darker corners of Edinburgh, encountering mind-bending drugs and impossibly sized toilets (read: hallucinations) to boot.

Penned by John Hodge, Trainspotting 2 is once again based on the work of acclaimed arthur Irvine Welsh, this time adapting the novel Porno which checks in on those four lowlifes twenty years on from the events of the original film.

It’s been a long time coming, too, and Danny Boyle’s continue interest in the »

Trainspotting 2: Older But Still The Same, The Boys Are Back in First Trailer

25 July 2016 8:34 AM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

The new Trainspotting 2 teaser copies its predecessor in the audio & visual departments, mimicking a scene from the original 1996 film. A train shuttles across its tracks to reveal our gang of city boys looking decidedly out of place at a tree-lined station. They may look a little older but the sound of Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life, the distinctive orange and white colour palette and the iconic numbered role-call are all too familiar: #1 Spud (Ewen Bremner), #2 Renton (Ewan McGregor), #3 Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie #4 (Robert Carlyle) are back. Find out why Begbie isn’t kicking the shit out of thieving Renton on 27th January 2017....

First Real Teaser Trailer for Danny Boyle's Sequel 'T2: Trainspotting 2'

Yes! Get ready. The first real teaser trailer for T2: Trainspotting 2, Danny Boyle's sequel to his 1996 cult hit film Trainspotting, has arrived online. They've been filming for the last few months, and we posted an "announcement" teaser back in May, but this is the first time we get to see any real footage. The four main guys are back: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. This teaser recreates the iconic scene from the original film where the four of them show up on the platform after the train passes, and we get to see how much they've aged in 20 years. Sadly, there's no other footage than that, but I'm glad they're starting to embrace the hype surrounding this sequel. And it'll be out in less than a year. Here's the first real teaser trailer for Danny Boyle's T2: Trainspotting 2, originally from The »

Trainspotting Sequel 'T2' Gets A Teaser Trailer!!

25 July 2016 7:18 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

I'll admit it: I've never seen the original Trainspotting. Nothing against the film, its stars, or- especially- its director, Danny Boyle. I was just 13 when it came out, and a film about a bunch of British drug addicts didn't scream "Must See Entertainment" at the time. I know it's supposed to be great, and I probably owe it to myself to check Trainspotting out, but my lack of knowledge on the subject doesn't hinder the excitement with which I share this teaser for the sequel with you.

Yes, here we are, 20 years later, and Boyle has managed to reunite the original cast for T2. The teaser, which you can see below, seems ripped right out of the 90s trailers for the original film. The reveal of the iconic Core Four is handled very well and, putting myself in the shoes of people who loved the original Trainspotting, I sort of »

The Gang’s Back Together In Trainspotting 2 Teaser Trailer

We all knew about it for some time, but this first teaser trailer makes finally real: Trainspotting 2 is on it’s way, and Danny Boyle has managed to reunite the original cast for the further adventures of Renton (Ewan McGregor), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewan Bremner), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). The trailer is more an announcement of the movie, but it does enough to get fans of the original well and truly excited. While it is based on Irvine Welsh’s own sequel to the original novel, Porno, at this stage we don’t know how close Boyle will skew to the source material. What we do know the basic premise is there, and we catch up with the gang a couple of decades later, knee deep in the pornography business, where they no doubt get up to the usual shenanigans. Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) are glimpsed in a echo of a scene from the original, standing on a platform as a train trundles through, this time yet more weathered, as Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life plays in the background…

Review: ‘Our Kind of Traitor’ Shows Why John le Carré and Hollywood Don’t Mix

30 June 2016 4:22 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

When John le Carré’s name is attached to a movie or television series, you already know what to expect. An author whose firsthand experience in the intelligence world informs his work, the novelist has developed a singular approach to spy stories. The films and series based on his work have attracted sizable budgets and A-list casts despite the labyrinthine governmental entanglements and devastating, feel-bad endings that come with le Carré’s territory. But where some of those other projects managed to preserve the author’s grounded approach, “Our Kind of Traitor” represents a Hollywood pivot to a film that, while entertaining at points, dilutes le Carré’s potency.

The aforementioned star power here comes from Ewan McGregor, playing unassuming poetry professor Perry (introduced kissing and caressing a woman’s naked back, lest you think he lacks mainstream movie spy bona fides), who becomes an unlikely pawn in a cross-continent informational tug-of-war. »
