Requiem For A Dream (2000)

Director: Darren Aronofsky

Screenplay: Hubert Selby Jr. and Darren Aronofsky based on the book by Hubert Selby Jr.

I saw a stat awhile ago, I don’t remember the exact numbers, but basically it said that most people are incorrect about what will make them happy. Happy. I suspect those are the same people that think happiness is a feeling that they need to achieve, or search for. The more I think about it, I believe more than anything, drug addicts have disillusioned themselves into believing such a feeling of happiness essentially exists. Happiness, pleasure, something along those lines, but whatever it is, the world

There’s a time and a place for flouting your celebrity status and unfortunately it’s not when you get your second DUI. Christopher McDonald, the man that made Shooter McGavin such a popular heel in Happy Gilmore, attempted to tell the arresting officers that he was in the famous Sandler movie in an attempt to throw his weight around it would seem, but all that happened was what anyone might expect. He was tossed into the drunk tank for as long as it took for him to get sobered up and then released without bail. That’s two thus far, right? Most

Film Review: ‘Wetlands’

Film Review: ‘Wetlands’
Hard-boiled meets undercooked to indigestible results in the heavy-handed “Wetlands.” This soggy stab at neo-noir finds Italian-born writer-director Emanuele Della Valle out of his element in a pretentious meller set on the Jersey shore. The various conflicts he’s concocted are neither psychologically convincing nor sufficiently ironical in genre terms to avoid a pervasive sense of cultural disconnect.

An indie piece of festival fodder that’s strangely devoid of much exposure at festivals — presumably it got turned down by the premiere outlets — this grab-bag of phony angst is being opened by Abramorama on U.S. screens Sept. 15. It won’t linger there long, but a speedy transition to home formats is unlikely to find it much more welcome there.

Perpetually grim Babel “Babs” Johnson (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) — first glimpsed in a flash-forward of high histrionic distress — is an odd fit in his new post as ranger in parklands outside Atlantic City. But then,

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in First Trailer for Crime Drama 'Wetlands'

"Keep to yourself, mind your own business, because this is the last stop for you." A trailer has arrived for an indie crime drama titled Wetlands (not to be confused with the German sex comedy of the same name), which is hitting theaters in a few weeks. From first-time director Emanuele Della Valle, this stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (from Get Rich or Die Tryin', G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Thor: The Dark World, Trumbo, Suicide Squad) as a top cop from Philly who finds himself working in a precinct in the Wetlands, the no-man's land surrounding Atlantic City, New Jersey. There he mixes with locals before the infamous hurricane arrives and threatens to destroy lives. The full cast includes Heather Graham, Jennifer Ehle, Anthony Mackie, Christopher McDonald, Rob Morgan, Lauren Lavera, Sean Ringgold, Louis Mustillo, Tyler Elliot Burke, Pamela Dunlap, and Barry Markowitz. This looks solid, but not sure. Take a look.

Ariz. Man Accused of Murder in 25-Year-Old Disappearance of Girlfriend Over Alleged Custody Battle
In January 1992, Davette Gaunt disappeared without a trace from her Vista, California, home.

At the time, the 32-year-old Delaware native was in a custody fight with her boyfriend, Christopher McDonald, over their two-year-old daughter.

Police weren’t aware of the case until May 1993 when a witness came forward and reported Gaunt had been missing for more than a year. The witness feared she was the victim of foul play.

The case remained unsolved for more than two decades, but on Monday, 25 years after Gaunt went missing, McDonald, 64, was arrested at his home in Safford, Arizona.

'Hounds of Love' and 'Hacksaw Ridge' to vie for key Awgie Award

Hounds of Love..

In a David and Goliath battle, the screenplays for Ben Young.s debut feature Hounds of Love and Mel Gibson.s Hacksaw Ridge will compete for the original feature film prize at this year.s Awgie Awards.

That pits a low-budgeted film scripted by Young, which has grossed $125,000 in three weeks at six Australian cinemas, against the $US40 million WW2 drama written by Andrew Knight with Robert Schenkkan, which has amassed $US175.3 million worldwide.

There is only one nomination for the feature film adaptation category so the winner almost certainly will be Luke Davies for Lion, based on Saroo Brierley.s memoir.

The 50th Annual Awgie Awards presented by the Australian Writers. Guild will be handed out in Sydney on Friday August 25.

Individual category winners will be eligible for the Major Award, given to the most outstanding script of the year. Past winners have included the writers

Newswire: Katie Aselton to star in horror-comedy that’s “a softcore version of Pleasantville”

The League and Legion’s Katie Aselton is among those set to star in a movie described as a “basically like a softcore version of Pleasantville,” according to Variety. To clarify: This is a wacky-sounding, high concept project called Deep Murder, about denizens of the porn world who start to develop beyond their stereotypes once a serial killer is in their midst. So essentially, the murderer takes on Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maguire’s job in the aforementioned Gary Ross picture. In addition to Aselton, the film is also set to feature reliable character actor Christopher McDonald; Johnny Simmons of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World; Stephanie Drake, otherwise known as Mad Men secretary Meredith; and two of its own writers, Josh Margolin and Quinn Beswick.

Margolin and Beswick are responsible for the screenplay, along with Nikolai Von Keller and Benjamin Smolen, while Nick Corirossi, who has worked for Funny Or

Christopher McDonald, Katie Aselton Duplass, Johnny Simmons Star in Horror Comedy ‘Deep Murder’ (Exclusive)
Christopher McDonald, Katie Aselton Duplass, Johnny Simmons and Stephanie Drake will star in “Deep Murder,” Variety has learned.

The horror comedy is set inside the world of soft core pornography. It follows a group of adult film stars and filmmakers who start getting picked off by a killer. Aaron Rodgers Gets Into Hilarious Twitter Beef With ‘Shooter McGavin’

Shooter McGavin is far and away one of the best sports movie villains of all-time. I think anyone who’s ever seen Happy Gilmore would 100% agree with me on this. But did you know that Shooter has his own Twitter account? It’s not actually run by actor Chris McDonald whose Twitter account has been dormant for about a year. This Shooter account has a whopping 308K followers. It’s not as much as Aaron Rodgers and his 3.11 million followers but it’s enough to get the Packers Qb’s attention. For whatever reason during a very late stretch of evening, these two

'The Crash': Film Review

'The Crash': Film Review
Old to-catch-a-thief cliches get dusted off and mangled in The Crash, Aram Rappaport's macroeconomic technodrama in which a stock-market hacker is recruited by the feds to protect the New York Stock Exchange from unknown terrorists. No film in which the Chairman of the Federal Reserve (played here by Christopher McDonald) is the most colorful character can be said to have much grip on reality, but this one is further off the mark than even that suggests; theatrically and on video, its stock will tank quickly enough to test the reflexes of a high-frequency trading algorithm.

Frank Grillo makes an unsympathetic...
