1 hour ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday may have been Hollywood's biggest night, but while all of the stars were getting ready to walk the red carpet, Nascar was busy holding their biggest event of the entire year. The Daytona 500 took place yesterday and Disney felt that would be a perfect time to get some people on board for Cars 3. They did so by dropping another brand new trailer, and it may be the best one we've seen so far.

The new 90-second trailer for Cars 3 first aired during the Daytona 500, but was then later uploaded online by Disney and Pixar for everyone to enjoy. During the 59th annual Daytona 500, star Owen Wilson was on hand as Grand Marshall for the big event, which also served as a nice bit of promotion for the upcoming bookend for the Cars trilogy. As we have seen in previous trailers, this new video makes it clear that »

New ‘Cars 3’ Trailer Debuts During Daytona 500

19 hours ago | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

A new Cars 3 trailer debuted during Sunday's Daytona 500 race from Pixar and Walt Disney Studios.

The trailer focuses on the next generation of race cars that will push Lightning McQueen to his limits and remind him that he's not the young hotshot he used to be.

Just because Lightning McQueen is older doesn't mean he's obsolete. As a voice over that may come from McQueen's mentor Doc Hudson tells him, you cannot turn back the clock but you can wind it up again.

Cars 3 stars Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Armie Hammer, Cristela Alonzo, Paul Dooley and Michael Wallis.

Look for Cars 3 in theaters on June 16, 2017.

This week, it was announced German language Oscar nominee “Toni Erdmann,” the third directing effort from writer-director Maren Ade, would be remade in English with Jack Nicholson and Kristen Wiig. Since IndieWire recently curated a gallery suggesting the cast for this developing project, several members of the editorial team shared the following thoughts on the latest news and whether or not it bodes well for the upcoming film.

Anne Thompson: So now we know who’s starring in the Paramount remake of Oscar-nominated “Toni Erdmann.” Jack Nicholson had the sense to like the movie so much that he convinced Paramount chairman Brad Grey to acquire the rights so he could play the snaggle-toothed father. The studio has cast Kristen Wiig as his workaholic achiever daughter, which means that they are chasing a commercial American comedy. ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Dominates Social Media Buzz

16 January 2017 12:13 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Universal’s “Fifty Shades Darker” topped social media buzz last week with an impressive 152,000 new conversations, according to media-measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.

The studio released the soundtrack listing on Jan. 12, three days after Taylor Swift also posted a “first look” of her soundtrack music video with Zayn Malik. PreAct estimates that a total of 1.12 million new conversations have been generated for the sequel, which opens on Feb. 10.

The sequel depicts an escalating romance between the characters played by Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) with plenty of steamy scenes and shadowy figures from Christian’s past emerging. “Fifty Shades Darker” also led the “most talked-about movies” chart during the previous week in the wake of releasing an extended trailer during the season premiere of “The Bachelor.”

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to start your engines, for the latest Cars 3 trailer has sped online for your viewing pleasure.

Building on the momentum established from last week’s teaser, in which Lightning McQueen was seen revving his engines in the face of Jackson Storm, this all-new promo is designed to chronicle the bitter rivalry between the two. Now fast approaching his twilight years on the race course, Owen Wilson’s iconic red stock car is written off as a washed-up champion by the time Cars 3 opens, and it’s Armie Hammer’s arrogant Storm that seizes control of that vacuum to become the talk of the circuit.

It’s essentially about the closest thing an automobile will get to a mid-life crisis and in Cars 3, McQueen will be nudged back on the road to recovery by Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo), an overly enthusiastic racer that ignites a comeback story. »

Lightning McQueen Stages A Rocky-Esque Comeback In Latest Cars 3 Teaser Trailer

5 January 2017 7:42 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If Disney and Pixar’s inaugural teaser trailer for Cars 3 stole the headlines for its harrowing tone, showcasing a certain red stock car spiraling wildly through the air, the animation giants have today unveiled the other side of Brian Fee’s animated threequel, in which we’re introduced to Jackson Storm and the iconic Lightning McQueen.

It’s a markedly different teaser from what we’ve seen before, showing McQueen as his usual, sprightly self, racing off into the darkness – and, presumably, onto the race track. For Cars 3 will show Owen Wilson’s chirpy lead at his lowest moment, as he’s effectively blindsided by the next generation of upcoming racers ready to lay claim to the circuit.
