Scarlett Johansson Set Photo from Hitchcock

17 May 2012 8:30 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Yahoo! Movies points us to the first set photo of Scarlett Johansson on the set of Hitchcock, the new movie from Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi that follows the famous director during the making of his horror classic, Psycho.

The film was actually once titled Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, but it's since been truncated down to the director's last name. It's got an amazing cast, which includes Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as his wife, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Ralph Macchio as Joe Stefano, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, and of course, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, the actress who starred in one of the most famous scenes in movie history: the shower scene.

I'm intrigued by this project - not just because Hopkins looks shocking like Hitchcock, but because I really enjoyed Gervasi's documentary about an 80s hair metal band and »

Dear Robert Pattinson, I Have Faith In You...You Magnificent Bastard.

20 April 2012 10:43 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Dear Robert Pattinson,

I must say I never thought I'd see the day. Let me just start things off by saying until now, I've only known you as the twinkly Edward Cullen, who made me put my foot down and wipe the Twilight movie from my memory with a simple "Hang on tight spider monkey". It was you that put me to sleep as my girlfriend nearly wept at your performance in Water For Elephants, and has since continued to pressure me to watch Remember Me. Perhaps the final straw came at the very start though, when you played the same bastard who collapsed the possibility of Harry Potter ever bagging Cho Chang. You may not know me Mr. Pattinson, but rest assured, I know you.

Despite my grievances, anger, and blind rage at my woman's lust for you...dammit I respect you. I just saw the trailer for Cosmopolis »

First image of Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

19 April 2012 12:15 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

When it comes to source material for movie adaptations, a non-fiction book about a director making a film may not be the most obvious of choices. However, when said director is Alfred Hitchcock and said film is his classic 1960 chiller Psycho, things start to get interesting. Add in a stellar cast that includes Oscar-winners Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) and Helen Mirren (The Queen) as Hitch and his wife Alma Reville alongside Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) as Janet Leigh and James D'Arcy (W.E.) as Anthony Perkins and things start to get really interesting. Finally, throw in this fantastic first look at Anthony Hopkins as the legendary British filmmaker and Hitchcock suddenly becomes one of next year's most intriguing cinematic offerings.

Based on Stephen Rebello's 1990 book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, the film is directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) and sees Hopkins, »

First Look: Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

19 April 2012 12:32 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Fox Searchlight Pictures has debuted the very first look at Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Alfred Hitchcock in Sacha Gervasi’s (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) upcoming biopic. Now we know what Hopkins looks like in Hitch make-up, you can almost hear his voice in your head delivering The Master of Suspense’s immortal dry line, “Good Evening”.

Not that I think Hopkins looks much like Hitchcock mind you. Then again he didn’t look a great deal like Richard Nixon either in Oliver Stone’s mid 90′s movie but he delivered a compelling and fiery performance that sure felt like Nixon.

Filming began this week on the movie which is now simply going by the title ‘Hitchcock’ and no longer ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’, the name of the Stephen Rebello book upon which it is based. A wise choice, I’d say.

Anthony Hopkins is Transformed into Alfred Hitchcock for... 'Hitchcock'

18 April 2012 2:53 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

People premiered the image you see to the right of Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming film Hitchcock (previously known as Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho). The feature got underway last week on Friday the 13th (natch) and is based on Stephen Rebello's 1998 non-fiction book "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho" and tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a 'lowly' horror movie. No studio wanted to touch it initially so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The film will center on the relationship between Hitchcock (Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). Joining Hopkins and Mirren in the feature are Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Toni Collette as Peggy Robertson, Danny Huston as Whitfield Cook, Michael Stuhlbarg as Lew Wasserman, Michael Wincott as Psycho's muse Ed Gein, »

Whoa: First Look At Anthony Hopkins As Alfred Hitchcock In 'Hitchcock'

Well, we already got a peek at what Toby Jones looks like as Alfred Hitchock in "The Girl" -- one of two movies on the way about the director -- and now it's time for Anthony Hopkins to step into the famous silhouette, and it's pretty impressive.

People have dropped the first look at "Hitchcock" (formerly known as "Alfred Hitchock And The Making Of Psycho"), which started filming last Friday the 13th (of course), and kudos to the makeup department because that is one helluva transformation. Impressive stuff. Sacha Gervasi is directing the star-studded pic that will chronicle the making of the classic horror film that found Hitchock battling an indifferent studio, while still managing to make one of the most iconic movies of all time.

Ralph Macchio Takes Role In ‘Hitchcock’

18 April 2012 6:00 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I can’t imagine Ralph Macchio tried to stage a big Hollywood comeback — his resume wouldn’t exactly point toward any real effort — but there’s a nice little role in at least one more high-profile production for him. According to Deadline, the ex-martial arts champion will take up the part of Psycho screenwriter Joe Stefano in Hitchcock, the Anthony Hopkins-led semi-biopic you’ve heard so much about.

Director Sacha Gervasi probably won’t work with Macchio all that much, however, because the main focus on Hitchcock is twofold: one being the actual, physical production of Psycho — something Stefano didn’t have a whole lot of say in — the other dwelling into the private relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). Small though this role will probably prove to be, grabbing a reliable, likable actor like Macchio nevertheless exemplifies the kind of care they seem »

Original Karate Kid Ralph Macchio Joins Alfred Hitchock & The Making of Psycho

The original ‘Karate Kid’ Ralph Macchio has joined ‘Alfred Hitchcock And The Making of Psycho’, the upcoming biopic of one of the world’s most beloved filmmakers. Deadline says production begins next month.

Set in 1960, the movie finds Hitchcock at a troubling crossroads in his career having lost some of his audience with “Vertigo” (amazing to think that now) and the struggle he had to convince a studio to finance and distribute his low-rent horror/thriller, for which nobody believed audiences would turn up for such a violent, psychological tale. Paramount had so little faith in the project that they gave Hitch a paltry budget and just let him get on with it without supervision but this would prove to be the best thing that could have happened to cinema. Under pressure, Hitchcock crafted an absolute masterpiece using the limited resources he had at his disposable to the hilt, finding »
