Portlandia,” IFC’s Emmy-nominated sketch comedy series, is nearing the start of its third season, set to premiere on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10pm. With a league of extraordinary guest stars slated to appear in the new season (including Chloë Sevigny and a returning Kyle MacLachlan), Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein -- the show’s co-creators and co-writers, along with Jonathan Krisel -- participated in a conference call last week to give journalists a taste of what’s to come for the unique Oregon-based show. What’s changed since season one for the writers? Will they ever leave Portland? How did Martina Navratilova fare on the “Portlandia” set? Are the real Fred and Carrie as gullible as the fake Fred and Carrie? And… Chloë Sevigny (a question in and of herself)? 7 TV Happenings To Keep You Occupied During The Winter Hiatus

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — except for TV. During a large part of December, our TV options are as disappointing as coal in a stocking, as several shows hibernate until January.

We here at ScottFeinberg.com don’t want you to be without entertainment as you anxiously await the return of your favorite series (especially with in-laws visiting!), so here are seven hidden gems to check out this winter hiatus:

7. ABC’s Nashville catch-up (Jan. 2 at 10 p.m. Est)

I just had to sneak this one onto the list. Although Nashville isn’t taking the stage again until Jan. 9, ABC is offering fans an opportunity to catch up on all the drama, tunes and steamy romances.

“Nashville: The Whole Story” will highlight the intersecting tales of country legend Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and rising star Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) as they »

First Glimpse at Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce in Drake Doremus' Sundance Entry 'Breathe In'

18 December 2012 11:50 AM, PST | Thompson on Hollywood | See recent Thompson on Hollywood news »

Check out this new image from Drake Doremus' upcoming Sundance entry "Breathe In," starring Felicity Jones as a British high school exchange student who shakes up the life of an older music teacher, played by Guy Pearce. "Breathe In" co-stars Amy Ryan ("Gone Baby Gone," "The Wire") and Kyle MacLachlan ("Sex and the City," "Twin Peaks"), and is written by Doremus and his "Like Crazy" screenwriting collaborator Ben York Jones. Ms. Jones also toplined Doremus' last film, "Like Crazy," which generated serious buzz out of Sundance 2011, despite coming up short on box office and the awards circuit the following fall. Jones also played a foreign exchange student in the film. Also on Pearce's 2013 slate is romantic comedy "Hateship, Friendship" opposite Kristen Wiig, and "Iron Man 3" (trailer here). Jones' other project next year is Ralph Fiennes' second »

New Image of Felicity Jones & Guy Pearce in Drake Doremus’ Breathe In

18 December 2012 8:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Drake Doremus has been one to watch for many years now, and really made a name for himself at Sundance last January with Like Crazy. Led by a beautiful pairing in Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin, the film took home two awards at the festival (and several others on the festival circuit), and now Doremus has re-teamed with Jones for his next film, Breathe In, which will be premiering at Sundance once more.

Debuting in the Premieres category, the film sees Jones star once more in the female lead, this time opposite Guy Pearce, and with just over a month before the film gets its world premiere, the festival has given us another great new image of the leading duo, as well as a longer synopsis.

“As summer turns to fall, music teacher Keith Reynolds privately reminisces about his days as a starving artist in the city. While his wife, »

2013 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Untitled Drake Doremus Drama

22 November 2012 8:30 AM, PST | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

I’m betting that Drake Doremus’s currently untitled drama will make it three for three at Sundance with Douchebag (Sundance ’10), Grand Jury Prize winning Like Crazy (Sundance ’11) or four for four in Park City when you include his debut film, the Slamdance selected Spooner. Once again teaming with Felicity Jones, this also stars Guy Pearce, Kyle MacLachlan, Amy Ryan and Alexandra Wentworth, filming on his latest began in August of 2011 – so with the exception of no title, there won’t be last minute preparations on this one and surely bidding war preparations might already be in the works.

Gist: This is quoted as being a “tense story about an inappropriate relationship between a young student, an exchange student and a school teacher.”

Production Co./Producers: Indian Paintbrush’s Steven M. Rales and Mark Roybal, Crispy FilmsJonathan Schwartz and Andrea Sperling (Smashed, Nobody Walks)

Prediction: Premieres Program

Kyle MacLachlan Cast on The Good Wife

Kyle MacLachlan, high-end guest star extraordinaire, is heading to The Good Wife, home of high-end guest stars. It's a match made in luxury-advertising heaven! According to EW, details on MacLachlan's role are scant, but ... it's a guest spot on The Good Wife. That means he will play someone smart and interesting with some kind of dark secret/dangerous agenda/damaging information/vibrant sexuality, or some combination thereof, just like every character on The Good Wife. »

Arrow has cast its Count Vertigo. He'll be played by Dirty Sexy Money and Fringe alum Seth Gabel.

Yes, Joe Biden filmed a cameo on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? I love it.

In a promising sign, Go On has promoted Sarah Baker, who plays "Cat Lady" Sonia, from recurring guest-star to series regular. At first glance, Sonia looked like a one-note character, but she's given the comedy some great stories, so I take this as a sign that the Go On team has, at least, a clue.

In case you thought the cancellation of Jersey Shore meant our national nightmare would soon be over. Not so fast. MTV is giving Vinny a "hybrid talk/reality series".
