Star's Mother Vets Roles

11 December 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Kyle MacLachlan has revealed that he almost didn't appear in David Lynch's controversial film, Blue Velvet (1986), because his mother didn't like the script. The film starred MacLachlan and then girlfriend Laura Dern as a pair who become involved with strange nightclub singer Isabella Rossellini. Kyle says, "I gave it to my mom to read and she couldn't say anything. I asked her point blank, are you all right with this and she said no. I'm not saying she should have been more worldly. I'm saying she had exactly the right reaction." »

Maclachlan Compromises Artistic Integrity For Dog Food

8 December 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

"Twin Peaks" (1991) actor Kyle MacLachlan is acting in films he doesn't like - because it pays for his dog food. The versatile star has had his fair share of leading roles - but when the going has gotten tough in recent times, MacLachlan hasn't been too proud to appear in lesser movies to pay his bills. He says, "I've never stopped trying to find work, but there's a constant battle between doing stuff I have to do, to pay for the things I need to pay for - my house, my dogs. You know dog food is very expensive - and doing things I like to do, which maybe don't pay as much. For me, that's why cable movies exist. They pay well and they have short schedules!" »
