30th Anniversary – Blue Velvet Plays at The Moolah Beginning Friday

27 April 2016 6:33 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

“I have your disease in me now.”

Blue Velvet will be showing for one week beginning Friday, April 29th at the Moolah Theater

Blue Velvet  is set in the quiet picture postcard logging community of Lumbertown. Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan), a somewhat naive and squeaky clean college boy, finds a severed human ear. Shocked and disturbed, he reports it immediately to the police while, with the help of his girlfriend (Laura Dern), he begins his own investigation, which soon leads him into stumbling into the seedy and violent world of abused nightclub singer Dorothy (Isabella Rosellini) and drug-sniffing psychopath (Dennis Hopper). Blue Velvet is the first movie in which David Lynch really showed us all his cards and united themes and imagery, now familiar to millions through the likes of Mullholland Drive, Wild At Heart and Twin Peaks. Now 30 years old, David Lynch’s Blue Velvet has lost none of its shock value. »

'Twin Peaks' cast list: 11 major omissions, from Lara Flynn Boyle to Heather Graham

25 April 2016 4:24 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

What a way to start off the week! The formidable cast list for Showtime's forthcoming Twin Peaks revival series was revealed this morning, and man, is it a doozy. In addition to boasting such key returning players as Kyle MacLachlan (Dale Cooper), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer/Maddy Ferguson) and Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), there are a number of surprising A-listers in the mix including Michael Cera, Trent Reznor, Amanda Seyfried and Naomi Watts. On the downside, a not-insignificant number of cast members from both the original series and the 1992 prequel film Fire Walk with Me are completely absent from the list. Where, for instance, is Lara Flynn Boyle (or Moira Kelly, for that matter)? Michael Ontkean? Piper Laurie? Joan Chen? Anyone from the mill? (Literally, there is no one from the mill.) So while I'm thankful that most of the major players are back in action, I can't help but »

Twin Peaks Cast Revealed! (And You’ll Never Believe some of the names!)

25 April 2016 3:00 PM, PDT | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

David Lynch today unveiled the full cast list for his upcoming Showtime Twin Peaks follow-up — and is it a doozy. Two hundred and seventeen actors are credited, with both newcomers and returning thespians. Previously only Kyle MacLachlan had been confirmed as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

Will Agent Cooper use a smartphone?

Let’s check out some of the more interesting names on the list, shall we?

Michael Cera: The erstwhile Scott Pilgrim has been keeping busy since his breakout role as George Michael Bluth on Arrested Development, but he usually sticks with comedy (Year One, Superbad). It’ll be interesting to see him tackle something so dark.

Will this hair get frizzier in perpetually damp Twin Peaks?

Trent Reznor: The Oscar-winning composer and Nine Inch Nails wizard has only two credits under his belt (aside from three video shorts): a 2000 Swedish thriller called Recycled and the 1987 Michael J. Fox »

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern, »
