Kyle MacLachlan and Miguel Ferrer in Twin Peaks

Actor Miguel Ferrer has died at the age of 61, it was announced last night. The much-loved actor, who made his breakthrough in the original RoboCop, had recently completed work on a new series of David Lynch's cult hit Twin Peaks. "Agent Rosenfield, I love you. Rip. – Coop," tweeted co-star Kyle MacLachlan.

Although he mostly played bit parts, Ferrer's charisma and dry humour won him a devoted fan following. He was the son of 1950 Oscar winner José Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney. "Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day... pale in comparison," said George Clooney, his cousin, referring to the fact that to most Americans today will always be bout a presidential inauguration but to his family it will be about the loss of their loved one. »

After news broke of the death of “NCIS: Los Angeles” actor Miguel Ferrer on Thursday, there was an outpouring of emotion and reminiscing on Twitter. The actor’s cousin George Clooney was among the first to pay tribute to the prolific voice and character actor.

In a statement obtained by Variety, Clooney expressed his family’s grief on what he called a historic day for the country.

“Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family,” Clooney said. “Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental  events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will.”

Many celebrities, friends and co-stars joined Clooney in paying tribute to the “RoboCop” and “Twin Peaks” actor on Twitter.

Actor Miguel Ferrer, who had memorable roles on NCIS: Los Angeles and Crossing Jordan, has died at the age of 61. 

Ferrer passed away Thursday after a long battle with cancer, our sister site Deadline reports. Since midway through Season 3, Ferrer has played NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Assistant Director Owen Granger, who in the CBS drama’s Jan. 15 episode was caught in the crosshairs of the mole hunt, framed for the assault of a woman he met at a bar. He also played medical examiner Dr. Garret Macy opposite Jill Hennessy on NBC’s 2001-07 crime drama Crossing Jordan.

Kyle MacLachlan returns as the FBI agent in the first teaser of Showtime's Twin Peaks revival, released on Friday.

Days after Showtime formally announced the premiere date for the upcoming Twin Peaks revival, the series has shared another haunting teaser, this time focused on Kyle MacLachlan's beloved protagonist Special Agent Dale Cooper.

In the brief 30-second clip, soundtracked by composer Angelo Badalamenti's theme, the viewer is shown a trio of eerie scenic shots of the titular Pacific Northwest town, including one that travels down a dark dirt road at night into pitch-blackness.

Showtime has been very secretive with their third season of Twin Peaks thus far, but they’re finally starting to peel back the lid. The 18-episode outing, which is set to premiere on May 21 at 9 Pm, will be welcomed with a sure to be explosive two-hour premiere. With the show quickly approaching, the marketing team is moving at full speed and today, they’ve dropped a new trailer which sees the return of Kyle MacLachlan’s Special Agent Dale Cooper.

The newest season of Twin Peaks picks up 25 years after the inhabitants of the quaint, titular town are stunned by the shocking murder of their homecoming queen Laura Palmer. Agent Cooper is back in action.

Showtime released a new teaser on Friday for the hotly-anticipated “Twin Peaks” revival, and the 30-second video features the first glimpse of Kyle McLachlan’s character.

Though there’s no dialogue in the new trailer, the iconic “Twin Peaks” music leads the viewer back into the sleepy TV town. Then, MacLachlan’s Agent Cooper appears and then the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign is shown.

Twin Peaks” returns on May 21 at 9 p.m. with a two-hour premiere episode. The full limited event series will be 18 hours.

The new “Twin Peaks” — which is based  off the cult-favorite series that ran two seasons in 1990 and 1991 — hails from original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost. Lynch directed the entire 18-hour series, which picks up 25 years after the people of Twin Peaks were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered.
