New York -- The Hayden Planetarium at Manhattan's Natural History Museum has been home to many famous voices over the last decade.
Tom Hanks, Liam Neeson, Harrison Ford and Robert Redford have all hosted space-related video presentations within the planetarium's dome. They don't usually show up in person; you might have a hard time getting anyone to pay attention to the space lesson directly above their heads if they did.
But on Thursday, with 300 public high school kids crammed into the planetarium for an event set up in support of the "Youth Inspired Challenge" program, history museum sponsors tried to combine a science lesson and the presence of a Hollywood megastar.
The kids had just returned from a special screening of "Men in Black 3" -- a movie about science! -- and were only told the screening would be followed with a "special presentation" about the film. When Will Smith came out, »

Broadcast’s dog-and-pony shows in New York City are finally over, but the walk-up to the fall 2012-2013 lineup has only just begun. Before we start wringing our hands over Britney Spears’ emotional readiness to be a reality show judge, we have some knee-jerk reactions to what we saw and heard this week:
Biggest trend: Comedy explosion. There’s 29 sitcoms hitting the air this fall — and we’re not including Rock Center With Brian Williams. That’s an enormous number of couches, awkward dates and workplace misunderstandings. Tuesdays will be a three-network comedy traffic jam, while ABC and NBC will offload extra chuckles into Fridays. »

Oh well back to the drawing board. Media sources are announcing that CBS did not pick up Martin Lawrence's return to sit-com TV planned for next season. The unitiled pilot, which was to co-star Regina Hall, was centered around the premise of Lawernce playing a widowed father of two teenage boys who pursues a career as a cop, after losing his construction job. No official word was given for why the network refused to pursue the pilot as a regular series.

Bad news for fans of Martin Lawrence waiting on the comedian's TV return: CBS has decided to pass on an untitled pilot Lawrence was developing for the network, Deadline reports.
The network had ordered a pilot of Lawrence's project, a comedy about a single-dad, who at 46, loses his construction job and embarks on a new career as a police offer, in February. Former "Wonder Years" star Fred Savage had signed on to direct.
The comedy would have marked Lawrence's return to TV after the popular sitcom "Martin," which aired for 5 seasons in the mid-'90s on Fox.
CBS has yet to confirm its other pilot pickup decisions. The network did renew its hit comedy "Two And A Half Men" for a 10th season on Saturday. Stay tuned for more news about the network's slate of new shows as it develops.

2Nd Update 5:30 Pm: This is a mini-shocker. Word is that CBS is passing on the Nick Stoller comedy pilot Entry Level. There has always been concern whether CBS would schedule a single-camera comedy in its blocks of all-multi-camera sitcoms but the network had expressed commitment to the genre. However, while Entry Level was received well and was an early frontrunner, it looks like CBS will again stick to all-multi-camera comedies next season. I also hear that Applebaum is now dead too, along with Oh Fk, It’s You. That leaves only Elementary, Ralph Lamb, Baby Big Shot, Golden Boy, Friend Me, Partners and possibly Martin Lawrence in contention. Update 9Pm: I’ve confirmed that the Marin Lawrence comedy is not going forward, so here you have it: Elementary, Ralph Lamb, Baby Big Shot, Golden Boy, Friend Me and Partners appear to be CBS’ picks for next season. CBS took much of the suspense out of its upfront by renewing the great majority of its lineup back in March. "Two and a Half Men" wasn't on that list, but it's a lock to return.
The only questions now are, where does the network put all those shows? And of the remaining shows not yet renewed, will both "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY" make it to next season?
"The Good Wife" is already picked up for 2012-13, but there's been a lot of speculation that CBS will find a new timeslot for it. We don't mind it staying at 9 on Sundays -- but in our schedule, it waits until midseason so it A) doesn't get pushed back by NFL overruns in the fall and B) can have a mostly uninterrupted run starting in January. The network is also reportedly considering expanding its Thursday comedy block, which would move one »

Over the past few months, we’ve added a weekly Friday feature rounding up the new releases coming to the big screen each week, courtesy of our Mr. Rob Keeling, giving you a taste of all the brilliant(/not so brilliant) films entering your local cinemas at the weekend.
It recently occurred to me to start up a similar weekly feature, instead rounding up all* the films making their way to the shelves of your local video stores (and of course, increasingly, supermarkets) at the start of each week.
There are so many brilliant films often released in close proximity to each other that sometimes it’s just not possible to see everything you want to see on the big screen, not to mention the fact that not all films are released in a nearby cinema (particularly if you live outside of London). I’m a big believer in the »

Back in 1995, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith starred together in the buddy action comedy Bad Boys, which spun off a sequel in 2003. Since then there has been speculation of another Bad Boys film. Last year we spoke to Martin Lawrence who claimed a third Bad Boys films was in the works, but Will Smith doesn’t seem too thrilled about doing another installment of the successful franchise. Speaking with Smith today, the 43-year-old, whose last film was the 2008 drama Seven Pounds, said that he’s not going to do a popcorn movie that doesn’t have “something to say.” Smith also believes that he has another seven years of doing action movies before his physique simply turns into “butt and gut.” (Click on the audio player to hear Will Smith)Will Smith
