Exclusive: Landscape Entertainment has promoted J.J. Jamieson to the newly created position of President of Television. Additionally, Bob Cooper’s film and television production company has renewed its first-look TV deal with FremantleMedia North America. Under the pact with Fremantle, Landscape has been developing scripted series projects, mostly cable dramas. Jamieson, who previously served as Svp, has spearheaded these efforts, selling a dozen projects to such networks as HBO, USA, AMC, TNT, Lifetime, Comedy Central, Syfy, Cartoon Network, and ABC. They include the Syfy pilot Three Inches and the ABC drama Beautiful Gangsters produced by Anthony Lapaglia. “There’s always a bit of luck, though I do find that in general, the harder we work, the luckier we get,” Jamieson said of the company’s slew of TV sales. ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1’ Takes a Huge Bite into Weekend Box Office

20 November 2011 2:58 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

There is no doubt that audiences finally wanted to see Edward Cullen and Bella Swan get married. Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” earned an estimated $139.5 million domestically in its opening weekend. The film’s opening is ranked as the fifth all-time box office weekend just short of its predecessor 2009’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which earned nearly $143 million at fourth place. The film also earned an additional $144 million in 54 international markets. Its worldwide total at $283.5 million will rank this film at number ten for the best all-time worldwide openings at the box office. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Ashley Green. The film presents the wedding between Bella and vampire Edward, and later their unborn child creates conflicts with the wolf pack and vampire coven. Excellent Final Trailer For Happy Feet 2

18 November 2011 2:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Following on from the astounding success of 2006’s Happy Feet, the upcoming sequel, Happy Feet 2, is set to make a big impact (I could’ve said ‘splash’, but chose not to) when it comes out in a few weeks, and this fantastic new trailer, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, gives us a lot to look forward to in it.

Not only did the first film do really well at the box office, taking more than $300m. from a $100m. budget, it also took the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, so in some respects, Happy Feet 2 has a lot to live up to.

Cast in a different light though, sequels are typically expected not to live up to their originals, so hopefully Happy Feet 2 will buck the trend and be a pleasant surprise!

Co-director from the first film, George Miller, is back in the director’s chair this »

Sacha Baron Cohen Will Be A Gambler

13 November 2011 9:47 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Most of Sacha Baron Cohen’s career has been a gamble, usually because it involves making fun of people to their faces and risking lawsuits everywhere he turns. But for Quentin Tarantino, it seems he’s ready to play a gambler on screen and is set to join the ever-expanding cast of Django Unchained. As we mentioned recently, Qt is now filling the many smaller roles for the Spaghetti Western-influenced bounty hunter thriller, which follows the titular freed slave (Jamie Foxx) on a mission to rescue his wife from the clutches of a very bad man (Leonardo DiCaprio). Along the way, Django will tangle with Scotty, a hustler who buys the aforementioned wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), as a companion. We doubt he’ll come to a good end. But even though he’s only a relatively minor part, he’s an important one according to Variety, and Tarantino specifically sought Cohen for the role. »

Cast for Tarantino's Django Unchained continues to expand

13 November 2011 1:35 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

More names are being added to the cast of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. Here's what's been happening...

Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained already had no shortage of quality names on its cast list, but ahead of it going in front of cameras shortly, more names have now been added. Here's a quick round-up of what's been happening.

Kerry Washington (Ray and The Last King of Scotland) was cast at the end of October, after months of rumours, in the key role of Broomhilda, Django’s wife. Don Johnson was cast in a small but nasty role about this time last month, as was special effects master Tom Savini.

Add to that the recent casting of Rza, who scored Kill Bill, Misty Upham (Frozen River) and Anthony Lapaglia (Without a Trace), and you could be forgiven for thinking that everything was almost finalised. Yet it appears that a weekend can »

Sacha Baron Cohen Is Last Major Casting For Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

12 November 2011 1:38 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

In the final piece of the Django Unchained casting puzzle, Quentin Tarantino has secured Sacha Baron Cohen to play a small but significant role in his new black slavery/Spaghetti Western revenge film.

The versatile Brit is playing Scott Harmony, the as written overweight and shy 24 year old son of a rich daddy who buys him the slave Broomhilda in a bid to cure his confidence issues. Obviously Cohen is anything but overweight and he turned 40 this year so they’ll be a few tweaks from the screenplay and I’m sure the two eccentrics Cohen & Tarantino will have fun together crafting this character. His screen time will be minimal but as written it’s my favourite scene in the whole film (it revolves around a card game with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Calvin Candie) and Tarantino knows the part is a good one and has been searching for a memorable face to play it. »

Sacha Baron Cohen Joins Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

11 November 2011 2:02 PM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Casting for Quentin Tarantino's slave-turned-bounty hunter feature Django Unchained seems to be never ending, but at least today offers a name worth reporting on as Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno) is in final negotiations to join the cast. The film centers on Django (Jamie Foxx), a freed slave who seeks to reunite with Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), his slave wife, a journey which will see him team up with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German bounty hunter, to take down Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), an evil plantation owner. Cohen's role is described by Variety as one of the last big parts left to be cast. The role is that of Scotty, a gambler who buys Django's wife as a female companion. As you can tell from the plot description above, this will be a rather important part, presumably more so during the film's finale. This will mark another step »

Sacha Baron Cohen is in final negotiations to join the cast, which stars Jamie Foxx as a freed slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from an evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Sacha Baron Cohen in final negotiations for Django Unchained

11 November 2011 6:49 AM, PST | Upcoming-Movies.com | See recent Upcoming-Movies.com news »

Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained could land Sacha Baron Cohen as gambler Scotty. In the western revenge action pic, Cohen would join star Jamie Foxx who plays a freed slave who joins forces with a German bounty hunter called Schultz to take on evil plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), and get back his long-lost love (Washington). Cohen's character is Scotty, a gambler who purchases Django's wife as a female companion, reports Variety. Apparently, the part is small but Tarantino was very particular on who he wanted to play it, since the character is important to the story. Also in the cast of Django Unchained are Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell, Kerry Washington, Don Johnson, RZA, Anthony Lapaglia, Gerald McRainey, M.C. Gainey and Rex Linn, who just landed the part of Tennessee Harry. »

Jonah Hill Turned Down Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

11 November 2011 6:40 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

We all know Quentin Tarantino likes to change our perception of actors and pluck them out of their comfort zone to see what they can do in a different genre environment (usually he sees something in an actor’s previous work and wants to heighten it) and this week it was revealed that he tried to take Jonah Hill out of comedy/drama’s and portray him in a new light.

Speaking to MTV, Hill said;  ”I got offered the new Quentin Tarantino movie, and I can’t do it because of my schedule… Doing Quentin’s movie would have obviously been amazing, but my schedule didn’t work out, which sucks.”

The role he was likely offered is that of Scott Harmony, a 24 year old overweight guy whose rich daddy purchases the slave Broomhilda for him. Sure, he’s dropped the pounds recently but there’s no reason he »
